The Return

Don't look now, but at the rate things go, everything points to TV Personality TP joining (yet again) another tv show. This time, the show is said to be the network’s newly Reformatted Program RP.

RP, already staffed and manned by the network’s Seasoned Talents ST is not lacking for anymore additional talent to make it run and attract viewers and advertisers. As it is, RP is sailing smoothly under ST’s capable hands. Sources said that TP joining in might bring some bumps and rock the boat needlessly.

Quite puzzling too is TP seems to love working with a Close Buddy. Is CB even aware of the public sentiment of their being together? Does CB’s presence all the time give TP a certain stability, much like a security blanket? Does CB feel the same way?

In a way, it might be true when observers say that only TP can define her own relationships. The manner by which TP calls the shots seems to reinforce that more than TP needing CB, it is CB whose star will likely shine only if TP so desires.

In the meantime, let us see what awaits the rest of ST’s when ‘outsider’ TP finally steps in their enclave. Will they remain or not?

Cedric Lee, Deniece Cornejo, et al and the Social Media

The public and netizens have gladly welcomed the news on the arrest of suspects Cedric Lee and companion this morning. With the outpouring of public sympathy for the victim Vhong Navarro, netizens said that the news of the arrest meant that justice is slowly but surely moving for the the actor/host.

Fugitive businessman Lee and co-accused Zimmer Raz were arrested Saturdaymorning of April 26, in Oras, Samar.

The arrest of the two who were among those accused in the mauling of actor/tv host Vhong Navarro were conducted by the operatives of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Philippine National Police (PNP) Samar, and the Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (ISAFP). They will be brought to the NBI headquarters in Manila as soon as possible, according to Justice Secretary Leila de Lima in an interview over radio station DZBB early this afternoon.

Cedric and Zimmer, along with Lee’s sister Bernice, model Deniece Cornejo and several cohorts in the assault were charged with grave coercion and serious illegal detention, after they allegedly framed Navarro for raping Cornejo inside her condominium unit last January. Serious illegal detention is a non-bailable offense.

Earlier, Cornejo and Sajed “Jed” Fernandez Abuhijleh posted bail of P12,000 each for grave coercion raps filed by Navarro at the Taguig Metropolitan Trial Court.

The series of events began after the mauling of Vhong on January 22 in a unit in Forbeswood Heights, Taguig City. People were shocked and aghast when the bloodied and seriously injured Navarro appeared on television and narrated his ordeal before the horrified public.

Since then, the public's outpouring of sympathy for Vhong and outrage at Cedric, Deniece and company began to flood the social media. Fans and friends of Vhong in and out of showbiz, as well as various media organizations were one in saying that the incident should be seriously and hastily addressed fearing that the suspects - well connected and moneyed - would just play around with the law and elude prosecution.

There were alleged reports that the mauling of Vhong was not the first one attributed to Cedric and his men. Various names of popular actors such as John Lloyd Cruz and Jake Cuenca were also reportedly victimized by the group, to which the two, fearing the repercussions on their lives and career have reportedly paid up and kept mum on the matter. Pressed for comments after the Vhong incident, John Lloyd denied the rumor attributed to him.

What probably kept the authorities on their toes is that apart from it being a high profile case, tremendous pressure from the furious netizens who had relentlessly barraged the social media also did it in.

For the meantime, the alert public is not putting its guards down. If their strong sentiments on the Vhong, Cedric/Deniece, et al, incident have put pressure on the authorities, the public outrage on the rape of the country's coffers will spell the difference.

Next to watch out for - the Pork Barrel Saga and its alleged mastermind and beneficiaries - Janet Lim Napoles and the men in the halls of Congress.

Hollywood star Andrew Garfield congratulated Kris Aquino and her youngest son, Bimby, for beating his first "Spider-Man" film in the Philippines in terms of earnings.

This after Aquino bragged to Garfield that their movie, "My Little Bossings," holds the record for the highest first-day gross in the Philippines.

Aquino, who was accompanied by Bimby, interviewed Garfield in Singapore, whose movie, "The Amazing Spider-Man 2," premieres in the Philippines on April 30.

"Actually he (Bimby) was supposed to say 'that the first-day gross of his movie in the Philippines actually beats Spider-Man. Our movie holds the record for the highest first-day gross. It's called 'My Little Bossings.' In English, 'My Little Bosses.' It's a comedy, it was shown on Christmas Day'," Aquino said on Kris TV.

Garfield replied, saying: "Fantastic... Well, congratulations."

Aquino also thanked Garfield for allowing her son to meet him and witness the interview, as well as have a photo taken with him.

"Thank you for this opportunity, thank you for this wonderful chance. May I take a picture? Oh, thank you so much, this is the ultimate mama moment," she said.

On the "Kris TV" episode which aired on Friday, Aquino praised Garfield for being so nice and accommodating.

"Oh 'di ba, kapag pinaligaya ang anak mo, ikaw na ang pinakamasaya sa buong mundo. I love him. Genuinely mabait, hindi ba? I was the last to interview him that day, he did 24 interviews. Ganoon sya kabait," she said.

It’s Now Dawning on Her

Years ago, Veteran Actress VA chose to leave showbiz, got married and lived abroad with her husband. After a few years, an offer came for her to do a comeback project. She was surprised and was very thankful to the network and her fans for their overwhelming support.

One project led to another, and before she knew it, she was staying longer in the country. As months passed, VA got more in-demand as she was also doing projects for another network.
As such, her schedules got more and more erratic as she kept accepting projects more than she could handle.

There were reported instances that during tapings, VA would often came in late many times, reasoning out that she lacked sleep. Consequently, the patience of VA’s co-stars had been put to a test for several times. Yet in situations like those, VA reportedly didn’t even apologize to them and the staff. She was called unprofessional and a prima-donna.

On most taping days of her latest series, VA would be habitually late again, often giving traffic as excuses, saying that she had yet to get adjusted to traffic. And whenever she arrived, she wanted that her scenes be shot ahead so she could go home as she had been seeing her family less and less. Ultimately, her co-stars’ patience were wearing thin which at one time even led to a verbal tussle.

Some insiders concluded that VA acted such as she felt like she was a privileged star, someone who can do away with everything. Turned out she was allegedly romantically linked to a network boss who would tolerate her hook, line and sinker.

The latest casualty of her bitchiness happened to be the show’s Production Head PH himself who had been giving VA maximum tolerance for the longest time.

The incident happened when VA reportedly told PH not to worry too much about delayed tapings. In her words, “Okay lang yan, wala naman tayong audience eh.”

This floored PH and shot back at VA and said that no matter what, even if they don’t have the audience, they cannot compromise!

PH got so pissed that he swore never to work with VA again. That was the last straw.

Obviously, too much of a good thing doesn’t do VA good. From the way she is shooting herself in the foot, looks like it maybe leading her back to where she came from, doesn’t she ever feel it?

Bryan Castillo, more popularly known as the "Pride of Pembo," took home P1 million as he was named the grand winner of the reality TV series "The Biggest Loser Pinoy Edition: Doubles" on Saturday.

During the grand finale, it was revealed that the 22-year-old lost the highest weight percentage of all four finalists, clocking in at a total of 52.56%, nearly 2% higher than the show's runner-up, Kayen Lazaro.

Castillo now weighs 139 pounds, after losing 154 pounds since he entered the Biggest Loser camp, nearly a year ago.

He took home the grand cash prize, along with a lifetime gym membership from Gold's Gym, Whirlpool appliances, P100,000 worth of sporting goods from Toby's Sports, and a Fruitas Franchise.

Castillo entered the Biggest Loser camp alongside her sister, Ikya, and were dubbed team Magkapatid.

Ikya, however, was booted out of a final four spot when she was eliminated after the show's eleventh competitive weigh-in.

As the program's first runner-up, Lazaro, who lost a total weight percentage of 50.50%, took home P500,000, Whirlpool appliances and a one year gym membership from Gold's Gym.

Francis Asis and 45-year-old Osie Nebreja were named second runner-up and third runner-up, respectively but their cash prizes were doubled because both, who were members of the same team, made it to the final four.

Asis ended up taking home P600,000, while Nebreja, who lost 133 pounds, got P400,000.

Gab Valenciano in 'America's Got Talent'

Watch out! The YouTube star and all-around performer is going for gold in the US talent competition

Gabriel Valenciano is surely following in his father's footsteps.

The young performer has been asked to continue on the show for this year's season of America's Got Talent.

When he heard about the auditions for the show, he queued up like everyone else and went through the arduous audition process, which meant cattle calls and long lines. But with his undeniable talent and energy, he persevered.

Watch the trailer for the show below and support our very own when the show airs!

The youngest son of Gary Valenciano and Angeli Pangilinan-Valenciano, Gab has achieved global online hits for his series of "Super Selfie" videos on YouTube. He initially posted only on Instragam, which allows posting video clips up to 15 seconds. With the coaxing of Gab's friend, YouTube partner Fil-Am singer/composer AJ Rafael, he opened up his own YouTube Channel just a few months ago.

When I asked Gab to describe why he names his videos "Super Selfie," he says "I shoot, edit, make the music and star in it!"

He certainly is the definition of a new media artist because he is able to utilize technology and create his own platform to showcase his talents. And the best part about his videos is that he doesn't take himself too seriously in any of them. His hilarious dance moves and upbeat energy make all his super selfies fun, particularly with his deadpan expression.
