As soon as her project was ending, the Current Network (CN) of Showbiz Icon (SI) immediately offered her another one. Such move would ensure that SI would not think of moving to the other network in case she receives an offer. SI, regardless of network and role, always gives her 100% and her competence is unquestionable. Moreover, SI brings work ethics that often rubs on her co-workers. The younger generation is excited to work with SI, as they can learn how to improve their acting skills.
During the preliminary meeting, the creative team of CN presented their initial plan. The story would revolve around three young men who would become involved with SI’s character. SI was then introduced to the three, namely, two homegrown and loyal talents and one transferee. Two are products of a reality show and have evolved as actors. Both have won acting recognition from peers and award-giving bodies. The third one sometimes dabbles in hosting and so far, can act as well. All three are happily engaged in their personal relationships as well.
SI kept quiet for a few seconds and asked who the boys were, as she did not want to risk her reputation by working with unknowns. SI had no idea that the boys in front of her were her future leading men in the proposed project. No one could react, as SI is known to be brutally honest.
The tension was broken with a few laughs and the lead presenter stressing that the story would revolve around SI’s character and not the boys. Then, SI asked if they had other actors who had more star power. She further suggested getting talents from the other network, as she knows many are just in the freezer and waiting for projects that might never come given the overflowing and quick turnover.
After the discussion, the team said that they will see what they can do and fix the casting. For now, the project is another work in progress. Of course, the management heard about the insulting comment of SI and has decided to be cool on giving her another project.

After months of glamorous preamble, anxious speculation—and more than a few controversies—Oscar night arrived on Sunday, filled with both expected wins (Rami Malek as best actor; Alfonso Cuarón as best director) and upsets—specifically best picture, which went to Green Book over Roma, and best actress Olivia Colman, who received a stunning victory over expected victor Glenn Close.
Though the Green Book producers hardly seemed fazed at their underdog win—which came after the film had already secured the best-supporting-actor and best-original-screenplay prizes—Colman was as shocked as anyone else as she accepted her award, stammering out, “It’s genuinely quite stressful!” as she took the stage. The genuine emotion of her acceptance speech was matched only by the crackling chemistry shared by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper, who melted hearts and minds with their soulful rendition of “Shallow”—the Star Is Born rallying cry that wound up winning best original song.

Sometime ago, the rift between Movie Actress 1 (MA1) and Movie Actress 2 (MA2) worsened when they did a couple of short-term projects together. The projects, which were considered achievements at that time, brought together on one screen the most beautiful faces of the entertainment industry. Although MA1 and MA2 can be considered contemporaries, both traversed different paths to gain fame, but did enter showbiz for similar reasons.
Likewise, their past love lives were as colorful as their careers. MA1 got involved in a long-term relationship, whereas MA2 had high profile relationships with male celebrities until she found the right one. After spending many years in the industry, the two eventually settled down, but the rivalry seem to have lingered even outside showbiz, as the two managed to enter the society circles. During that moment, they both stayed away from the limelight and opted to raise their families quietly.
However, when MA1 and MA2 did their projects, controversy was raised when blind items spoke about how someone behaved and flaunted what she had. According to a story, MA1 told the staff to remove the things in the tent assigned to her, as the items she needed for the project needed space. MA2 was infuriated, but later calmed down as MA1 said she did not know the things brought out were hers. MA1 added that the things were unbranded and looked like the stuff of the crew. The atmosphere lightened up as MA1 and MA2 started kidding around. Then, MA1 said that MA2 owned non-designer things because she’s not rich. MA2 fired back when she spoke of a painful truth about MA1. That statement created awkward silence among the people who were around. Subsequently, MA1 and MA2 would rather avoid each other even if they are in the same events.
Years later, MA2 threw a party and everyone important attended except for a couple who had prior engagements. Fans noticed that MA1 was missing. According to the grapevine, MA2 did not really invite MA1, as she did not want the party to be tainted with controversy. Besides, she could not take the way MA1 had been projecting herself in social media, which she thinks is cheap behavior. The other guests could only smile back. As always, the one absent will always be talked about. At the end of the party, knowing that their photos might be uploaded, they agreed to just say that attempts were made to invite MA1 but she could not be contacted.

Repost: Miss Universe Organization Releases Official Statement Confirming Partnership with the Araneta Group

The Miss Universe Organization (MUO) finally put an end to speculations that the Miss Universe Philippines (MUP) franchise has been awarded to the group of Ilocos Sur Gov. Luis Chavit Singson.
In an official statement released to the Manila Bulletin, the MUO said that it will continue working with the Araneta Group on Binibining Pilipinas.
The MUO praised the leadership of Jorge Araneta, CEO, chairman and president of the Araneta Group; and his wife Stella Marquez Araneta, chair, Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. (BPCI), for the success of their national pageant for many years now.
The MUO also admitted that the group of Singson is supporting the efforts of MUO and the BPCI “in seeking to modernize and grow the brand into more than a one day special and LCS (Luis Chavit Singson) has agreed to support us in our efforts to do so.”
“In our continuing efforts to build and evolve the Miss Universe brand in the Philippines, the Miss Universe Organization has explored many options and opportunities to enhance Binibining and grow it into a dynamic, multi-faceted platform. While exploring these opportunities, we sought the input of all of our partners and will continue to do so.”
Previous reports alleged that the MUO has offered the local franchise to Singson.
The MUO said that before the finals of 2019 Bb. Pilipinas beauty contest in June, Governor Chavit Singson will welcome all of the Binibining contestants in historic Vigan, just as he did with the Miss Universe contestants in 2017.
“We look forward to the collaboration and innovation to bring an exciting future to Miss Universe Philippines and our beloved fans in the country,” the statement added.
The official statement was obtained by the Manila Bulletin after this writer e-mailed the MUO to comment on the issue surrounding the ownership of MUP franchise.
