The Contract

Prior to marriage, prenup agreements seem to be the norm these days. On the one hand, a prenup is seen to protect the couple’s assets in case they do not live happily ever after. On the other hand, a prenup is thought of as insulting, especially if one side thinks he/she will be bringing more to the marriage.

For this couple, marriage seems to be the only event needed to bring their relationship to a new level. Network Talent (NT) and Dramatic Actor (DA) met years ago while working on a project. NT has had previous relationships within the industry and after breaking up, she hardly talked about them. With DA, things were different. DA was hardworking and took his role in his family seriously. The two were smart and articulate and fans love them.

As time is an enemy, the time for the two to marry is crucial, especially if they want to have kids. Besides, NT has been keeping her body for their wedding night and DA completely understands the situation. The two finally decided to marry, even with a simple ceremony. However, they stumbled on a major problem.

NT wanted a prenup before committing permanently to DA. DA was shocked, but he loves NT. Thus, DA consulted An Adviser (AA). When AA found out the request of NT, he raised an eyebrow and allegedly tagged NT as presumptuous. As an insider, AA is aware of the ins and outs of financial matters of artists. Between NT and DA, finding out who earns more is a walk in the park. For example, DA has left and right endorsements and regular shows. By contrast, NT’s projects are not being closed quick enough. After carefully analyzing the circumstances, AA realized that the prenup would protect DA more than NT. Thus, AA advised DA to sign the papers.

DA was ready with his pen and after a few days, he wondered why NT has not mentioned anything. He finally asked for the papers so he could sign them. NT said that she changed her mind about the contract, as the idea of having one might offend the family of DA and they might hate her after.

When AA found out that NT changed her mind, he reached out to her and suggested the papers must be signed. He said that the signing will be done without the knowledge of the family of DA. They will keep the secret of having a prenup among themselves. Apparently, NT did not protest and said ‘yes!’ to the what AA said.
