Not a Good Change
After years of being in the industry, CA soon found herself in a humbling experience, as from being an unknown, she became a famous personality. Soon, CA’s appearances would be accompanied by screaming fans. One successful project after another propelled CA as a household name and a celebrity to follow in social media. Everything was humbling, and people like CA because of her attitude. She knew what hard work meant and she strived to improve her other talents. Hence, they would also want to work with her.
Nothing stays the same, unfortunately. It could have been fame, pressure, or a new crowd that transformed CA from a reserved person to a fiery one. With confidence, CA would answer her bashers, knowing fully well that her fans can eventually gang up of anyone who criticizes her. Before, people would find her pleasant to work with, from the makeup artists to the production crew, but now, it’s different. Lately, they noticed that she seems to be too picky and critical of many things. Hence, working with CA requires caution, as CA might show irritation. If they had a choice, others would rather not be in her team, as they have realized how much CA has changed. Gone are the days when she did not have air and she was just her simple self.
Although CA has accomplished so much at her young age, sustaining one’s career is the secret to staying power. More importantly, senior stars would advise the younger generation to be kind to every personnel in the industry. The cliché is that the people whom you meet going up are the same people you will bump into going down. Thus, showing rudeness to anyone might have a ripple effect. In the case of CA, people are slowly moving away from her.

Repost: MMFF Execom 2017 Members Resign After Revelation of Four Official Entries

Three members of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) Executive Committee (ExeCom) have resigned following the announcement of the first 4 official entries to the festival.
According to directors Erik Matti and Babyruth Villarama, Rolando Tolentino, Ricky Lee, and Kara Magsanoc-Alikpala have resigned from the ExeCom.
Matti and Villarama had films in the MMFF 2016. Villarama's Sunday Beauty Queen won 4 awards including Best Picture, while Matti's Seklusyon won 8 awards, including Best Director.
On Facebook, Matti asked his followers why they thought the 3 ExeCom members resigned.

Also on Facebook, Villarama praised the 3 former ExeCom members, saying, "Bravo to Kara Magsanoc Alikpala, Rolando Tolentino, and Ricky Lee for having the balls to stand against a self-destructing system."

Tolentino, Lee, and Magsanoc-Alikpala have not explained why they left.
Tolentino announced his resignation on Friday, June 30, saying on Facebook: "As of this morning, I sent my resignation as Chair of the Rules Committee and as member of the 2017 MMFF ExeCom. I'll leave it at that."
Also on Friday, Tolentino tweeted: "Paano umibig? Paano makatulog? 'Wag antayin dahil kusang darating pag hinog ang oras at katawan. 'Pag 'di makatulog, tulad sa pag-ibig, mag-antay pero 'wag antayin ang pagsikat ng araw. 'May pag-ibig na parang 2017 MMFF script choices: some old habits are hard to break."

When Rappler reached out to him for comment, Tolentino said that they have a confidentiality agreement with the MMFF organizers and cannot discuss their reasons for resigning.
He later tweeted that "the results of the script selection speak for itself."
"Patunay ang MMFF script selections na tunay ang hidwaan ng komersyal at kalidad, tunay din may kapangyarihan ang komersyal interes," he added. "Patunay ang MMFF script selections na walang interes burahin ang indie at mainstream distinksyon. Ang nabura, ang indie."
(The MMFF script selections prove the real conflict between commercial and quality, commercial interest really does have power. The MMFF script selections prove that there is no interest in erasing the distinction between mainstream and indie. What was erased was indie.)

Such Absence of Manners
When the network gave the chance for Pretty Talent (PT) to appear in various projects, the management had high hopes. After all, PT was a looker and attractive. Although her acting was still raw, the network thought that her skills can be improved by taking workshops and joining various projects. As long as PT would be patient, she might become the next important star of the network.
As time passed, PT continued to strengthen her spot in her network, but things were shaky as there were indeed many other talents. Then, PT met Familiar-name Celebrity (FC), who was loved by people. Soon, PT was being linked to FC. While it was no big deal for FC, PT realized that advantages of being connected to someone like FC. Thus, she started throwing her weight around.
With FC behind her, PT started acting like she was an important talent of the network. Her projects might be limited, but the people with whom she works with all feel the impact of her presence. Compared to fellow co-workers who are cordial and light to be with, PT can be aloof, arrogant, and whiny. The behavior of PT came into question, and speculations centered on her being linked with FC as the reason for her arrogance.
By contrast, FC had won over his co-workers because he knows how to communicate with them. Also, it helps that he has been exposed to the business since his parents are well-known in their fields. Thus, it was only a matter of time for FC to join the industry himself. Much is expected from him, which is why he has learned to behave, if not played the field correctly.
What bothers certain observers is that PT might be taking her being linked to FC too far, as she has really yet to give the network a show that reaps in ratings. Her career is too thin to be bragged about, and in other words, she has more to prove than FC. Her attitude does not help at all. One secret to staying in the business is the good attitude one shows to fellow workers regardless of their position in the network. If PT wants to stay long, then she ought to be sincerely nice to everyone, and not be a nightmare to her costars.

There are plenty of well-dressed It girls on Instagram, but Filipino-American actress Liza Soberano is racking up likes for more reasons than one. A household name in the Philippines thanks to her frequent television appearances and upcoming titular role as the beloved comic heroine Darna, Soberano sports a carefully curated wardrobe that is a mix of tomboy and cool girl. With the help of her stylist, Perry Tabora, the 19-year-old has already figured out that switching gears with her fashion choices makes for a vital sense of personal style. She’ll move from ripped denim and ribbon chokers worn for a casual outing to princess-worthy couture for major red carpet events. “I always enjoy collaborating on looks with Liza,” says Tabora. “She’s so adventurous when it comes to trying out new styles and is always open to suggestions.”
Born in Santa Clara, California, Soberano moved to Manila with her family when she was 10. She caught the eye of talent scouts and was offered modeling gigs shortly after, but chose to commit herself to learning Tagalog, an Austronesian language widely spoken in the Philippines, in order to work in Filipino television and film. Mastering the language (she’s now fluent) opened doors, allowing her to work her way from small parts to a leading role in a romantic comedy. As Soberano’s profile rose, Tabora was there to guide her fashion sensibility, and over the past four years they’ve developed a winning formula. “Liza’s looks are always youthful, fresh, and with an understated elegance,” says Tabora. “To give [her outfits] that unique quality we always try to mix aesthetics.”
To create that look, the pair combines pieces from Filipino labels with statement items from Gucci, Tom Ford, Chanel, and her personal favorite, Dior. “[Liza] adores Maria Grazia Chiuri for Dior,” says Tabora, pointing to the corseted dresses featured in the brand’s Western-themed Resort collection as a good example. Even with her affinity for the classic European houses, supporting local talent remains a priority for Soberano, particularly when it comes to Manila-based designers Martin Bautista and Michael Cinco. “They both have that look that she gravitates to—feminine but with a modern kick,” says Tabora.
With her star on the rise and growing online presence—she boasts more than 5 million followers on Instagram alone—Soberano is a girl to watch. And with a Darna press tour on the horizon, there’ll be plenty of opportunities to surprise her fans on the red carpet. Says Tabora, “She’s like a blank slate for fashion.”
