Arrogance Leads to Banning

Arrogant Actor (AA) probably thought he could get away with anything simply because he is popular and is among the top talents of his network. However, he met his match and this challenge to his status could very well affect his reputation. Nonetheless, those who are familiar with his habits will not at all be surprised at the outcome of an incident.

Between projects, celebrities are invited to perform in various locations and to grace festivities with their presence. Usually, the deals are done in consultation with the management team of the celebrities, and thus, managers are careful when it comes to agreeing to out of town shows. Depending on the magnitude of the fame of a celebrity, his/her management can price his performance per song or simply by his appearance at the said event.

When AA was just starting out, he was a favorite performer of several provinces. Not only is AA good-looking, he has the talent to woo the crowd and people know he can carry a tune. At that time, his talent fee was way below than what he is getting these days. After several years in the business and successful projects with his screen partner, AA has managed to move up the scale. Thus, his old provincial clients can only raise their eyebrows at his talent fee now compared to the time when he was trying to build a name.

One time, AA was invited to perform in a province north of a city. The organizers got worried because he was not yet around an hour after his call time. After another hour passed, AA finally arrived, and the organizers thought the night would go as planned. They were wrong.

AA refused to get out of his vehicle unless he had his own tent, that is, he would be sharing the space with anyone. When he arrived, talents from the rival network were already in the tent, preparing for their numbers. The organizers tried to reason with AA, but he was adamant with his stand of having no tent, no performance. He said that he needs privacy to prepare for the show. After sometime, the tent was emptied, and AA was given the accommodations. As soon as AA entered the tent, he closed the door and gave instructions that no one was allowed to enter.

As the delay stretched, AA was asked if he could already come onstage, as the numbers were about to end, and it was his turn anyway. Thirty minutes passed, and no AA came out of the tent. The organizers were fidgety. AA was already more than two hours late, and now his attitude was unbelievable. After a few minutes, AA had to open the door because he sensed the people gathered around were not ordinary persons. Then, an organizer headed toward AA and started reprimanding him for the delay he caused. AA could not respond, as this was a rare moment that someone actually had the guts to tell him right in his face.

No amount of being cute and sheepish could pacify the organizers, and thus, the verdict was out. AA was banned. He would never be invited to any event, fiesta, or activity in the locale. Worse, the organizers did not pay him, as his tardiness dramatically affected the flow of their program. Apparently, AA has not at all learned from his mistakes, when his arrogance often got in the way and earned him a bad reputation in another province.
