The Never Ending Drama of The Dramatic Actress

Her entry into the network was a highly anticipated event in local showbusiness. For almost a decade, seasoned actress (SA) has been rumoured to be staging a comeback, but the reality was that no one dared to gamble on her until one of the movers in town decided to lure her back. In clinching the deal, SA was able to reclaim some financial security and renew ties with the industry.

The offer was so sweet that SA grabbed the opportunity, and she was once again seen on primetime. Sadly, although the project was promising with its cast and storyline, it did not generate the interest needed for her to have a successful comeback. Her drama series only lasted for a season. SA, now vacant, never lost hope, and she continued to have appearances on tv and the movies. Her fans clamoured for a follow up of her telenovela, but the waiting game continued for several months. Finally, the network said it already had a major project for SA, which was to be launched early this year.

Then, the publicity suddenly died down. Apparently, SA got sick and thus, the taping for the pilot episode had to be moved. The poor production people had to wait for her, and activities related to her in the series had to stop. Ah, but the head of the production (HP) was wise. SA has been known for her idiosyncrasies during her career, such as making people wait for hours while she stayed in her room.

Hence, HP supervised the stay of SA in the hospital to make sure just in case SA was having one of her “dramatic spells.” Was HP doubtful of the veracity of “the sickness “of SA?

At her age, SA should already be more conscious of living a healthier life minus the typical habits that go with the business such as smoking, drinking, staying up late socializing, etc. Moreover, SA should think of how many of the smaller people in the production will not get paid because of delays and work stoppage.

Oprah Winfrey does not look out for her own ... at least that's what is alleged in a new lawsuit in which a female exec at OWN claims she lost her job because she got knocked up.

According to a lawsuit filed Friday, Carolyn Hommel claims she was hired in 2010 as senior director of scheduling and acquisitions at Oprah's OWN network. Hommel claims she was told she was on-track to become a VP, but says things took a sudden turn when she became pregnant.

According to Hommel ... her duties were slowly transferred to a temporary employee and she was excluded from meetings when she returned from medical leave. Hommel claims she was let go ONE MONTH after giving birth and told to re-apply for the VP gig ... only to be passed over.

Furthermore, Hommel claims her boss, Michael Garner, fabricated a performance review that "made Hommel's job duties and responsibilities appear less 'senior' and therefore not a candidate for the new vice president position."

Hommel allegees her dismissal was a direct result of her becoming pregnant and requiring a medical leave.

Must They Deny Their Secret Rendezvous?

 

A few months ago, a photo of this young actor (YA) with a commercial model (CM) enlivened the rumors that both had a thing going. Then, other blogsites started fanning the flame regarding YA’s sexual preference. His supporters came to his rescue and accused everyone who questioned YA's sexuality of trying to sabotage his career. YA even did an interview to deny such rumors. Come to think of it, how many actors have actually admitted to being one in their home network’s talk show? How many actors have dared risk losing the fame and the fans to coming out?

Sources have it that YA and CM are still together despite the risk and their separation middle of last year. They managed to reconcile because CM exerted effort to win back YA. Now, they are very careful in hiding their relationship. To avoid detection, YA is the one who goes to the pad of CM, and not the other way around. Even if they are together in an event, they are careful not to be photographed together.

However, it seems that YA and CM are going on another out of town rendezvous very soon. Both will be in the same vacation spot during the same week this year, but CM will arrive a few days ahead of YA. Are their scheduled trips to the same spot at almost the same time merely coincidental? Incidentally, this is the same area where they were allegedly photographed last year. While YA seems to want to not hide his true self, his career says otherwise. Expect more denials of the rumors from his camp soon. Do remember that where there is smoke, there is fire.

Latest Update: According to a reliable source, YA had already made confession to his family and to his network managers very recently. YA could have been hit hard by his deep affection towards CM and can not risk losing him. In fact he threatened his family that should they (the family) try to separate him with CM, he would not think twice of committing suicide.

"I wish I had never known you. I was happy before even when you were not there yet. Unlike now, you make me suffer, I know that you didn't mean to have known me. Me too, I wasn't planning on loving you."

Showbiz Mother SM and daughter SD went shopping for replica Goyard bags in a popular flea market in the metropolis. The bags were to be given as gifts to their friends. SM and SD were haggling for the best price for the the 10 pieces of knock-off Goyard bags that they were buying from the seller. There were many other shoppers in the store as it was a payday weekend and there was mad rush everywhere. The store's sales staff SS(tinderas) were very busy attending to different customers.

SM on the other hand was busy haggling with one of the SS. After she was given a sizable discount, SM and SD took the initiative to putting the items inside their shopping bags since SS were attending to other buyers as well. When SM and SD finished, they hurriedly paid for the items and left.

Suddenly, SS had a hunch that something went wrong. Immediately she counted and mentally inventoried the remaining bags and lo and behold, 2 pieces were missing! She panicked and hurriedly ran after the mother and daughter who were walking amidst the sea of shoppers. When SS caught up with them, she politely told them of the problem: that the two missing items could have been placed (accidentally?) inside their shopping bags.

SM was furious and embarrassed at the same time as they were attracting people's attention. She told SS that it's impossible that the missing bags were with them as she personally counted everything carefully. But she knew that she wouldn't be able to get away with not opening the shopping bag, so she hesitantly gave in to SS' request to open it -- and true enough, as expected, the 2 bags were there (shopping bag had 12 pcs. instead of 10pcs.)!

It was such a painful situation to be in for the three of them right that very moment as "uzi's" were aplenty and looking malicious. Both SS and SD had a hard time feigning everything was okay amidst such major embarrassment. Meanwhile SS apologized and left quietly with the 2 bags in hand.

Tip: When thinking naughty, be smart. Avoid stepping on potential land mines.

Swept Away: Navy to scrap $277 million ship to avoid scraping reef

A United States minesweeper ship that crashed into a coral reef due to inaccurate Navy maps will have to be cut into small pieces and removed in order to prevent harming the ocean’s ecosystem, according to the Navy and other reports.

The $277 million USS Guardian, a Naval warship that clears waterways of mines, crashed into a coral reef near the Philippines earlier this month.

The Navy will disassemble it piece by piece in order to avoid damaging the reef rather than tow the multi-million dollar ship off of the reef and perform necessary repairs.

“Our only supportable option is to dismantle the damaged ship and remove it in sections,” Capt. Darryn James, a spokesman for the U.S. Pacific Fleet, wasquoted as saying Tuesday by the Military Times.

One Navy source criticized decision makers for deliberately destroying the expensive warship just weeks before devastating cuts to the defense budget are scheduled to take place.

“Boneheaded decision making on the way into the reef and boneheaded decision making on the way out,” said the source, who requested anonymity so as not to be seen criticizing the Navy. “It’s amazing how we can find ways to spend more money we don’t have on the eve of sequestration.”

It remains unclear how much the cleanup operation will cost U.S. taxpayers.

It is believed the ship crashed into the reef due to the use of flawed maps.

“The U.S. Navy also revealed Jan. 18 that the digital navigational chart in use by the Guardian misplaced the correct location of the reef by about eight nautical miles,” the Military Times reported.

Navy officials claim the maps have since been updated and corrected.

One senior congressional source warned that these types of accidents could increasingly occur as the Obama administration continues to cut the military.

“Sooner or later people have to come to terms with the reality that Obama is wearing out the Navy through over deployments and cuts to vital training and readiness accounts,” the aide said. “Look no further than this reef in the Philippines to see what a ‘hollow force’ looks like.”

The Navy maintains the crashed ship is beyond saving due to extensive damage. The ship’s hull has been penetrated and its fiberglass ripped off by waves.

Two cranes are currently en route to the crash site and are scheduled to arrive on Feb. 1, according to the Military Times. It will take more than a month for the Navy to demolish the ship and safely remove it from the reef.

American salvage teams are reported to have already cleaned-up any portions of the ship that might have damaged the Tubbataha Reef, which is located in the Sulu Sea and has been nominated as one of the new seven wonders of the world. According to the Military Times, Adm. Scott Swift, commander of the Seventh Fleet, apologized for any possible environmental degradation:

“As a protector of the sea and a sailor myself, I greatly regret any damage this incident has caused to the Tubbataha Reef,” Swift said in a statement. “We know the significance of the Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park and its importance as a world heritage site. Its protection is vital, and we take seriously our obligations to protect and preserve the maritime environment.”

The destruction of the ship is being viewed as a “serious blow” to the force.

“The loss of the Guardian is a serious blow for the stressed U.S. mine force, which has been called on to expand operations in the Persian Gulf,” according to the Military Times. “Including the Guardian, 12 of the fleet’s 14 mine countermeasures ships are currently operating overseas or forward-deployed to the Far East or the Persian Gulf region.”

Scared or Scarred, She's Making Subtle Moves

After a painful and much-publicized break-up, young star YS is quietly keeping to herself, avoiding as much as she could talks that will lead to a past she would rather bury. Whether YS was hurt, traumatized or at best relieved for what happened, no one can really tell. At any rate, her quiet demeanor seems to be doing her good.

There's been no bad press for YS so far since she is quite endearing to begin with. Not really the type who would proclaim her troubles and personal life in public, so unlike most of her colleagues who thrive in those, YS has gained the respect of colleagues and the public to some extent.

On the love department, her male admirers are distant, careful to proclaim their sentiments. As it is, YS is allegedly not keen on anything yet. For one so young, she is so circumspect, weighing out risks -- calculating before plunging on to something new.

Heard that talented actor TA is bent on pursuing her, but is having doubts if he stands a chance. Although both YS and TA seem to welcome the idea, it is YS who is said to be holding back -- is she skeptical, confused, or just plain scared by the trauma of her past?

But TA is serious enough, as relayed to some close friends -- but there are humps he has to pave first, like someone in YS'  past whom he is friends with. But friends say YS and TA complement each other in looks and personality. By showbiz standards, both lead considerably quiet, unassuming lives, so not prone to scandals. Indeed, there are less and less 'thinking' celebrities these days.

Dear Fashion PULIS,

I am a fan of your site and I know that you have a huge and solid readership. I have a story that I want to share with your readers and I really hope you can publish this so that more people will be aware.

This is about an aspiring fashion designer named AS and his sister SA. Both are selling LV bags to many people claiming that they are genuine. Everyone seems to trust both siblings, and saying that their aunt, AR works in LV Milan seems to have strengthened their claim on the authenticity of their merchandise.

I have purchased quite a number of bags from them. But it was only recently that I did some research and inspection, and what I found out really shocked me. I can't believe that for the longest time, I had been buying fake LV's all along! I did further investigation and found out that their aunt, AR actually lives in a province, located southeast of Metro Manila. She had never worked for LV. She just lives here in the Philippines, had never left and worked in Milan at all.

I went to LV store in Greenbelt and checked the bags side by side with the authentic ones and the big discrepancies really screamed fake! The stitches, the cuts, the pattern, and a lot more. I really felt so bad for myself and all the people they have sold these items to as not being able to look beyond the obvious. My concern is that this designer, AS and his sister SA, have been selling these fake stuff for a long time already and has sold to so many people. You do the math and you will come to quite a staggering figure. It’s really all illegal business from day one.

I hope this brother and sister tandem will soon be found out, and this conspiracy to be made public and justice will be done. It is such a big scam, FP. It reminds me of the Birkin scandal that you have written about just last year.

Confronting the Inevitable: Territorial Manager vs. Itchy Actress

When territorial manager (TM) bumped into Playful Actress (PA) along the corridor of the room of his prized talent (PT), TM stopped and confronted PA. TM told PA to stop involving herself in the life of PT as PT is already doing well. Caught unaware, PA said she and PT were just good friends, etc. Of course, TM did not buy the “friendship” litany. After all, PA and PT were once lovers, and PA has been quite vocal about her past affair with the actor.

TM, still peeved over the we-are-just-friends excuse, looked at PA, and said, “If you feel the itch, go find someone else to do the scratching, not my boy!” In diva fashion, TM turned his back and walked away from PA.

Now, another source claimed that PA and PT were indeed sharing a room during that same event, and that PA has ''hooked up'' with PT after breaking up with her most recent boyfriend. Well, don’t look now! Despite her projects and PT on one side, PA still has time to flirt with another actor from a different network. Is PA keeping “lovers” or "flings'' in different networks? Will TM succeed in keeping PA away from PT?

Before the filming of a series, stars and a few major players in the production are often encouraged to develop rapport. For example, if the cast has several teen stars for a barkada-serye, they are allowed to hang around, do stuff together to break the ice, and be comfortable with each other. Other than the formal acting workshops, casual get-togethers are encouraged for the cast.

Having grown up in the business, establishing this initial connection through a casual gathering is nothing new for intense actress (IA). Hence, she invited young hunk (YH) to have dinner at her house. She was to star with YH in a project, which was her return to the network and his follow up after his successful solo series. However, something happened during dinner. According to YH, he was not sure if IA was under the influence of alcohol or not, but he said she tried to ''entice'' him. He politely warded off any advances of IA. He claimed he behaved like a gentleman that night when he told '' the story” to his close friends and bosses.

Imagine the surprise of YH when IA gave him a mouthful when he had a difficult time in their scene. It seemed that IA took the opportunity to pounce on YH as she did not like him turning her down as simple as that. Perhaps YH turned her down to avoid more confusion or trouble as he had already caused tension between his former and current girlfriends and their fans. In addition, YH might like cougars but maybe he is just interested in older women who can swing both ways. Nonetheless, when YH learned that IA was dropped from their project, he felt sorry for her.

Thus, it was not just bad acting that got IA irked that day, it was really the turning down of YH that had already triggered her fury towards him. True to her style of responding to controversy, IA has opted to keep quiet concerning this issue.

Is He Losing Interest in His Career?

Months ago, fans of this popular loveteam were so elated with the announcement that the couple were finally doing a movie together again. After the success of their second movie, the camps of female performer (FP) and media heartthrob (MH) surprised the fans for refusing to have a third movie soon after. Since then, FP and MH have proceeded with their own careers. FP got busy with her concerts and found love interests in between. Meanwhile, MH retained his position as a bankable actor in movies,  endorsements, and other appearances.

As their fans anticipated the release of the third movie in time for Valentine’s Day, stories are now floating that the movie outfit will release a different movie on that day, one that will star the hottest actor in their stable and his former teleserye partner. Hence, there is now a question as to the fate of  FP's and MH's movie.

Talks had it that the movie encountered problems along the way, causing some serious delay. Allegedly, MH has gotten hooked on something that has made the production hold the movie until MH is ready to face the cameras again. Over the past years, MH was the subject of stories about having drinks too many. His latest show, which started well, abruptly ended and rumors pointed to him becoming difficult to work with on the set.

Why is MH behaving badly these days? Isn't he supposed to be inspired with his new status? After he proudly proclaimed his latest relationship, not a few were happy for him and his girlfriend (GF), while others predicted that MH would drop GF soon. But so far, they seem so good.

Sadly, if MH's career plunges, GF might possibly be put in a bad light. Up to when will his network wait for MH? Will he shape up in due time?

A piece of advice to this actor: "In this business, fame lasts for a second. You can be blown up and be blown down. People keep losing interest in faces because new ones come along every single second.''
