Repost: PMPC Reveals Nominees for 38th Star Awards for Movies

Source: www.mb.com.ph

It’s all systems go as the Philippine Movie Press Club, Inc. (PMPC) gears up for the 38th Star Awards for Movies to be held early 2023.

Founded in the late 1960s, PMPC is considered to be the pioneering group of entertainment media in the country. It is a professional group of active entertainment columnists, editors, writers, and bloggers/vloggers.

The PMPC Star Awards is known for its sophistication and artistry. The 38th Star Awards for Movies is expected to be a rebirth — of a grand tribute to local movie industry, the filmmakers, workers, and performers — as well as for the PMPC for keeping the industry alive and well during those bleak times who championed both mainstream and independently-produced films shown and streamed in 2021.

Truly a milestone year at 38, PMPC PMPC intends to bring back the glamour and glitz of showbiz celebration. A special presentation is devoted to honoring two industry icons: Ms. Helen Gamboa for the Nora Aunor Ulirang Artista Lifetime Achievement Award, and Director Chito Roño for the Ulirang Alagad ng Pelikula sa Likod ng Kamera Lifetime Achievement Award.

This awards night is headed by PMPC President Fernan de Guzman as overall chair together with the 2022 officers and board of directors. Current PMPC Secretary Mell Navarro is the chairman for the 38th Star Awards for Movies together with PMPC Treasurer Lourdes Fabian as co-chairman.

Repost: Oh Young Soo Indicted on Charges of Indecent Assault

“Squid Game” star Oh Young Soo has been indicted on charges of indecent assault.

On November 25, it was reported that the Seongnam Branch of the Suwon District Prosecutor’s Office indicted Oh Young Soo without detention the day before on charges of indecent assault. Oh Young Soo is accused of inappropriately touching a woman’s body in mid-2017.

The police received the victim’s complaint in December 2021 and forwarded the related documents with the opinion of indictment to higher authorities in February 2022. At the request of the prosecution for a supplementary investigation, the police interviewed the witnesses and reviewed the lawyers’ opinions and decided not to transfer the case in April.

As the victim appealed to the police’s decision, the prosecution has been reinvestigating the case since. During the prosecution’s investigation, Oh Young Soo was reported to have denied the allegations.

Oh Young Soo commented via JTBC, “I just held her hand to guide the way around the lake. I apologized because [the person] said she wouldn’t make a fuss about it but it doesn’t mean that I admit the charges.” Nevertheless, the prosecution judged that they secured evidence to support the allegation of harassment and transferred the case to trial.

Oh Young Soo appeared in the Netflix series “Squid Game” as Oh Il Nam, who suffers from a brain tumor, and won the Best Supporting Actor Award in the TV category at the Golden Globe Awards in the United States in January this year.

Repost: Alden Richards Takes Responsibility for Non-romantic Relationship with Maine Mendoza, Reveals Possible Project with Her

Kapuso heartthrob Alden Richards finally commented on the Aldub issue which persists four years after the loveteam broke up. He said he takes full responsibility if “AlDub” didn’t end up romantically the way fans expected them to be, but the most important thing is he and former screen partner Maine Mendoza are “good friends.”

“We’re grateful but I make a stand to not let people control my life. Ito ang prinsipyo ko sa buhay. Hindi ako property ng kahit sino. I have my own choices, I have my own decisions so I stick to that,” he declared in a media conference in Cebu City over the weekend.

“Minsan very unfair sa industry natin because of the team-up that has happened. It puts a pressure on both of the individuals. Syempre, hindi naman natin mapi-please ang mga taong gusto natin i-please,” Alden added.

Aldub’s famed team-up was again in the news recently after Maine was interviewed in the vlog of talent manager Ogie Diaz. She lamented that up to this day, some avid fans insist that she and Alden are married and have a child together.

Maine is already engaged to Quezon City congressman Arjo Atayde while Alden continues to keep mum about his private life.

The award-winning singer-actor revealed that there’s a pitch for him to be paired with Maine again, but it’s still in the pipeline.

During the Cebu mediacon, Alden was with actress Bea Alonzo who stars with him in the hit Kapuso series, Start-Up PH. They were asked their views on how to make a screen pairing work, and Alden’s reply seemed to be referring to his popular team-up with Maine.

“From the very word itself: love team. You should be a team, you should work together. It’s not always the side of the other half na masusunod. Hindi man maging kayo, hindi man kayo maging involved romantically, at the end of the day, kailangan maging magkaibigan kayong dalawa.”

Likewise, Alden was asked on the similarity he has with Tristan Hernandez, his character in Start-Up PH who is a successful investor. It was at this point that Alden revealed a little-known facet of himself.

“Si Tristan, he endures pain alone, I am like that as a person,” he revealed.

“First time ko itong sasabihin. You all see me as this bubbly, playful person na very warm. But sometimes kasi, there are certain pains in my life that I prefer to keep to myself. The more I share it, the more painful it gets. So minsan, yung mga bagay, sinasarili ko na lang kasi mas nakakatulong sya sa akin,” he confessed.

Up-And-Coming OPM Act Ode To Mars Will Make Your Day A Whole Lot Better With Debut Single 'O’ Sinta'

Ode To Mars - Martin (left) and Odi (right)

For decades, Universal Records Philippines is unquestionably a firm believer of burgeoning local talents. And this late 2022, the major record label is now set to introduce another very promising act that’s certified Tatak Pinoy. Meet Ode To Mars!

Ode To Mars is a brainchild of budding musicians Odilon Reyes and Martin Patrick Tan. The duo sees themselves making music that will resonate with people's souls, as their sonic exploration roots around in various local pop-rock and alternative artists and hitmakers, especially from the 90’s and early to mid-2000s - like Parokya Ni Edgar.

Speaking of which, Martin is the son of Parokya Ni Edgar’s former long-time manager Richard Tan, the brains behind several well-known OPM bands in the country. Aside from PNE, the legend has handled Kamikazee, Moonstar 88, Chicosci, among many others.

Combining the power of their sheer talent and commitment towards an ideal and inclusive brand of music and persona, Ode To Mars is ready to present their debut original single “O’ Sinta”. (LISTEN HERE)

This track can be aptly described as a sweet modern-day serenade and has very relatable lyrics at the same time. Likewise, its melody is not complex, making it an undeniably and generally appealing OPM love song. Ito Rapadas spearheaded the production of this track.

“O’ Sinta” is part of the latest Fresh Finds Philippines playlist on Spotify and is out now on your favorite digital streaming platforms. Stay tuned for more from Ode To Mars coming soon!
