A Scam Aborted?

Was it an honest mistake or an intentional deception? Thus, would be the questions of people who were at the backstage of a recent event. A tradition of the event is the awarding of the coveted recognition to the most beautiful and the most debonair attendees of the night. While the event was going on, the hosts announced that the coveted recognition goes with a cash prize.

Finally, the names of the winners of the coveted recognition were announced. The envelopes were awarded and the winners were happy that they were recognized. When the envelopes were opened at the backstage, they were allegedly empty. The cash prize was not in any of the envelopes. It was not like the winners needed the money; rather, it was the principle. The manager of one of the winners demanded what happened to the cash prize. The manager persisted until the organizers were able to trace what happened to the money. Well, allegedly, one of the committee members had kept the cash (for safekeeping, perhaps).

The frenzy at the backstage for the search for the missing cash was so tension-filled that it merited a tweet from a controversial personality (CP). Of course, the mysterious tweet made the followers wonder at the meaning, and CP will not spill the beans, anyway. As always, the event lives to its consistent reputation of always having a controversy, be it with the choice of winners or the voters, themselves.

Behind the Pageantry

The invitation said the screening starts at 2pm. The press and the photographers arrived on time and were eager to meet the applicants. THREE hours later, nothing was happening at the venue. The press people were restless and starving. The organizers did not provide food for them.Worse, the organizers asked them to step out of the venue and return 20 minutes later. The press then saw the applicants still practicing when they came back. They wondered if the screening would ever start. After almost an hour, food was finally served.

Given the events that transpired, an important point is whether the organizers can get their act together by starting on time and respecting the media. After all, media people can make or break the future of the chosen contestants and the contest itself. Now, was the MORE than FOUR-hour wait of the press worth it?

One guest commented that the event overflowed with applicants who had all guts and confidence. Those traits are good but it was a screening for a prestigious beauty pageant.

Don't Bite the Hands that Feed You

The attendance during this brand’s fashion show last week was just so overwhelming that some of the big bosses had to assist in the registration and the seating of the guests. When the show was about to start, one of the bosses noticed the late arrival of this certain team. Since almost all of the seats in the front row seats were already given to the guests of the shareholders, this boss quickly approached this team, apologized and requested for a few extra minutes for his staff to add seats in the front row.

Instead of appreciating the gracious effort of this boss, the leader of the team ordered the team members to ditch the show. They walked away from the venue leaving the boss speechless and humiliated.

After the show, the boss called for a post-mortem ordering the withdrawal of their brand’s support from the company of this team who snubbed their show. It was just so ignorant for this team to insult the boss who happened to be the signatory of all the brand’s advertising placements.

PFW: Eric Delos Santos, Sassa Jimenez, Jerome Salaya Ang

I had to watch this show yesterday because Eric is a good friend of mine and he always remembers to invite me to his shows. It was also very sweet of Mrs. Jimenez (the mom of Sassa), to request a friend of mine to personally email me an invite. I was hoping to meet her personally but I guess she was too busy. Let me share with you some of the highlights from the show.

I was wondering how this girl could appreciate the show with her sunglasses. I guess the lighting was too fierce so she decided to leave them on.

Oops... it was just too hard for her to enjoy the show with the sunglasses on so she eventually decided to get take them off. Joking aside, I posted this photo because I loved this model.

I call Eric the "Flowy Prince" because he is very good at flowy dresses and his office is in Prince Plaza. Haha ha! I fell in love with these pieces that I called him after the show to have them reserved for a good friend of mine.

I enjoyed the concept of Jerome's segment. It was about an ugly duckling having a sweet dream. His show even used different versions of the song "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)" which I totally adored.

The mushroom-inspired skirts of Sassa were so cute. I was so intrigued as to how you can sit properly when you are wearing them at a party. =)

For Sassa's segment, she got a singer to add spice to her show. The singer did very well for her first song but I was disappointed that she did not memorize the lyrics for her second number. It bothered me that she was constantly looking at the cheat sheet in her hand while belting it out.

Congratulations to Eric, Jerome and Sassa for a very well-attended show. I apologize for the bad photos because I was seated on the side. Congratulations also to DJ Brian Cua for the music used for the segments of Eric and Sassa.

The Inspiration of Princess Beatrice's Hat

Princess Beatrice, the daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, was chosen as the worst dressed Royal Wedding guest by The Times Live. She paired her Valentino Haute Couture dress and coat with a Philip Treacy hat.

I think this melon/buko scraper was the inspiration of Princess Beatrice's hat designer. What do you think?
