    6. Sickness from drinking regular water of a developing country is called Traveler's diarrhea. It's not really a fault of poor sanitation or anything, it's due to the fact that the intestinal bacteria of people from first world countries are different from people living in developing countries, as well as different immune system resilience. Most of the bacteria and viruses involved in TD are harmless to people with good immune systems or to the natives of the country.

I highly doubt this is the case here. Masalva is Mexican. They have the same sort of environment that the Philippines has. First world tourists also get TD in Mexico, and US tourists in particular are often also told not to drink unbottled water in Mexico.

I think it's something more serious but rare. Like he just got really unlucky. The only clue we have is that it spread to his lungs: so something that causes pneumonia. And there are a LOT of possible bacteria that do that. I wish the news would actually identify what it is though.

    7. Same here.

      Delete
    8. Mahihina lang mga sikmura ninyo. I can drink tap water kahit sa mga CR ng mall na hindi sumasakit ang tyan.

    9. Yung anak ko :( naconfine after bday niya. Sumusuka and nagllbm.

  7. Ako naman from Canada. Nung umuwi ako, nagsusuka at LBM ako ng malala. As in first time na akala ko mahohospital ako. Kinain ko BBQ from a stall sa market market. Dont know if nagbago sanitation sa ph or nagadjust tyan ko dito?

Like nilagnat na ako and all. muntik na ko masugod sa ER but I can't even leave the CR sobrang lala nya T.T pabalik balik naman ako sa pinas once or twice a year pero now ko ko lang yun narasanan.

If you over eat and your body is not used to that amount of food of course you will have symptoms, if that wasn’t your normal diet and suddenly you eat those food you crave of course you will have a reaction. The sudden humidity alone that your body is not accustomed to anymore and presence of flies on your food can also be the cause. Have you ever wondered we are surrounded with water, luscious forest and large amount of aquifer underneath yet the water that comes out of your faucets are not potable? Is there someone regulating the filter stations that they regularly check their water for microbes? If in other countries they mandate your swimming pool to have specific requirements to keep it safe, how about your drinking filtered water and those swimming pool that is open to public? I know it is a cultural thing but if you participate in a boodle fight, why are you surprised that you are suddenly ill?

    1. My kids got hospitalized after our Miniloc Palawan vacation. Sobrang taas ng lagnat nila and they had to be medicated for over a week afterwards. Doctor said it's from contaminated water. We used bottled water the whole time but he said accidentally swallowing shower water or beach water while swimming can also be the culprit.

      Delete

      Delete
    3. Sa photo it looks like they’re drinking service water during the boodle fight

      Delete
    4. 2:26 by know it's a common knowledge among tourists not to drink water if it's not bottled water.

      Delete
    5. Yes!!! May warning sa may faucet. Even hotel namin May provided a water na pang toothbrush.

      Delete
    6. 5:42 There’s your answer there, it doesn’t matter if you bathe and consume only filtered water and wash your hands properly but if you participate in a boodle fight and some people eating with you are unsanitary or carrier of something, you will get sick. Most picnic boodle fight are outdoor and your food is contaminated by flies that landed on 💩 then bee line to your 🍱🍗🥗.

    1. Baka nga sa kinakain or iniinom.

  30. Nagiiba daw kase ang adaptation ng katawan pag nagtatagal sa ibang lugar not necessarily may bacteria na agad minsan nabibigla lang sa ph level ng water, water composition like minerals etc yan ang explanation dati saken ng tita ko basta something to that effect. Add to that yung pagbaba ng immune system when traveling dahil sa pagod, puyat and jetlag. But true din talaga na madalas mga ice durrtyy so avoid at all cost. Ang hassle magkasakit when traveling.

Biglang nag passed out akala heart attack. And di nalang nakagalaw bigla. Na hospital for a week then sabi need idala sa Manila. So nag decide sila na e fly back nalang sa US, winilchair nila para maka pasa sa customs palabas sa pinas since nurse naman yung asawa nya, but she didnt declaire na may sakit or whatsoever. Paglapag sa US, may naka abang ng ambulance and paramedics.
