Lots of children from well to do families choose UP for the quality of education and the prestige. If kaya ng IQ ng bata mag UP, it is still one if not the best in the country.
Kanya kanya nman tayo ng taste/preference ng beauty. Ako, di talaga ako nagagandahan sa kanya. Ang ganda ganda kasi ng nanay i cant help but to compare. Pero mukha syang mabait na bata talaga
Marami daw mayayaman graduate sa UP. Kasi pang mahirap Lang daw dapat pag State U
It is a University for everyone who possesses the required intellectual capacity.
UP is the University of the Philippines. Not the University of the Poor. It welcomes everyone from all classes, genders and ideologies. There is only one requirement to get in, and that’s passing the UPCAT.
I have a colleague who graduated in UPD and we were amazed sa kwento nya na she has this friend who owns a private plane who flew them to BKK back in college just to grab a coffee then went home the same day. Seems legit cause it comes with a proof. Lol Also ka-batch nya si Shamcey so I heard good stories about her.
Mahal din sa UP. Me mga bracket yan. Depende sa estado ng buhay. Kung mahirap, maliit lang bayad. Pag may kaya magulang mahal tuition mo. Titingan ITR ng parents mo
I graduated from UPD and my roommate was the daughter of a Korean diplomat. We had dormmates who were heiresses of Negros haciendas and Moslem princesses. The sister of Ronnie Henares was also a dorm mate. Children of actors, sister of Margie Moran were in my batch. The wife of Fernando Zobel and one of the Gokongweis also went to UPD. We also had dorm mates who were very poor. Acceptance to UPD had nothing to do with wealth or lack of it.
Halo halo po sa UP. Mayaman, mahirap, middle class. Kasi mahal din naman magpaaral dyan. Hindi man same levels ng Ateneo sa fees, pero may babayaran pa din. Tsaka open naman yan to all basta makapasa.
Oo, kahit mayaman pwede. I had a classmate before, papasok siya na dalawa ang dalang kotse. 1 for her and another one yayas and bodyguards. Nung naggroup study kami sa kanila pinahatid din kami with bodyguards and may wang wang pa to avoid traffic.
Question about UP. Bakit parang mas madaming mayayaman na taga UP? Parang na defeat yung purpose of being a public school. And pag graduate ka ng UP, since pinaaral ka ng goverment, should you be working in government for at least a year or two?
"Parang" and why would they be? Pinaaral din naman yung elem at high school sa PUBLIC schools pero they didn't require to serve the country naman because education is the priority of the state especially if nag apply ka dito.
Whether mahirap or mayaman ka, basta pumasa ka, may right ka mag-aral dun. Isa pa, if given the opportunity to study in the #1 university in the country, why not grab it?
1:15 I agree to this! Tama naman na UPCAT talaga ang basehan. Kaso nagkakaroon agad ng edge ang mga mayayaman because they can afford expensive high schools, hire tutors and enrol in UPCAT review courses. Hindi rin sila salat sa nutrition and they are not stressed sa financial difficulties unlike their public school student counterparts. Kaya kesa sa useless proposals like pagbabawal sa mayayaman, address the root cause first: IMPROVE PUBLIC SCHOOL EDUCATION AND LIVEABLE WAGE for the parents para magkaroon ng kakayahan suportahan ang anak with proper food and allowance!
From what I gathered, the school fees of these can afford students are used to subsidize the cant affords (which shouldn't be be. The govt shuld give the budget). But IMO, it defeats the purpose of the state giving the cant affords the chance to study in a good school at less cost. The cant affords have lesser opportunities while the can affords have more (e.g. ateneo, dlsu, etc).
Tuition in UP depends on your family's income. It's good to have a perfect balance between "rich" and "poor" students. Imagine if most students would pay nothing or may stipend pa, it'll be hard to sustain its operations. That's why there's also a need for paying students.
Penoys doing penoy things again :) :) :) Good luck if she's going into politics :D :D :D You need to know how to wrestle in the mud and get yourself dirty ;) ;) ;)
All freshies must past the UPCAT. Pero UP also allows transferees from other colleges and universities but they have to maintain a grade point average as far as I know. You can also transfer from other UP locations (i.e. LB to Diliman) pero with conditions. Meron ring kumukuha ng certificate courses, they have a different system from the UPCAT. Those are certificate only not college degrees. Nevertheless, to pass the course, you must do the work. Yung friend ko na transfer from La Salle also had to give that effort. Sinong mas matalino sa amin? If academic performance ang pag iusapan, my grades were a tad higher than hers and mas lzy ako sa pagaaral kasi natutulog ako main lib.
Para makagradweyt, they have to show a version of intelligence (academic/intellectual/emotional) and prove themselves. Afteral, may grading system kahit mismo pasang awa (tres sa fellow UP Diliman students here, not Inc or Dropped).
Madaming rich kids sa UP dati pa.
Congrats fellow iska from your older UP Diliman Sunbar. Congrats to the parents too and well done to all the new grads! Good luck to all of you as you face yourgrad life challenges!
If halimbawa call center agent po?
Congrats Juliana and to the proud parents. Blessed family.

DeleteShe's a varsity player
DeleteShe did not pass UPCAT, varsity scholarship kaya nakapasok ng UP
DeleteI didn’t see her name too sa mga UPCAT passers.
DeleteYes, di sya naka pasa ng UPCAT. Varsity volleyball recruit sya.
DeleteAng alam ko nakapasok siya dahil sa varsity admission and not thru upcat.
Delete4:33 baka transferee
Delete433 bec you can enter UP, not only via UPCAT, but also via varsity admission.
DeleteKahit pala super yaman ang family pwede sa UP. I thought it's for marginalized but very bright students.
