    7. Ako din i was diagnosed type 2 last jjan of 2023. I’m not talking medication na rin ng metformin or insulin. Na reverse ko siya. Thank you Lord.

      Delete
    8. Hi 12:15, dun sa not taking Metformin anymore, did your doctor advise you not to na ba? Mom ko kasi, di naman sobrang taas ng sugar, mga 150-180 ata but was advised to take Metformin twice a day then when it normalized, once a day na lang. Regular naman check-up, okay din HbA1c nya. Pero continuous pa din sya sa metformin. Maybe because senior na din kaya as maintenance na?

    9. Na hack ba account nya? Si Sam ba talaga yan kasi nag ta Tagalog eh. If that's him hope you get well soon and get your blood sugar controlled.

    10. Hello 12:43 when I started with my diet and exercise I’ve noticed na below 70 na (below 60 na ang blood sugar ko) while taking insulin at metformin so I’m kinda worried sa Hypoglycemia. So I asked yung Doctor of pharmacy about it. So gradually inalis muna yung insulin tapos ipinagpatuloy ko yung metformin ng isang beses na lang instead of two met a day. Tapos medyo mababa na talaga at halos normal na blood sugar ko at pati a1c ko na 10.5 naging 5.4 na lang so sabi nila itry ko daw na wala na din ng metformin at i have to check my blood sugar kung okay yung numbers ko for 2 weeks without medication at all so ayun ipinatigil na nila pero kailangan ko parin I monitor yung blood sugar ko once a day at pag may mga changes ay kailangan ko silang sabihan. Regarding sa mom mo maybe whatever her doctor prescribed eh you have to follow because they know what’s best for her. Love and prayers. Thanks

      Delete
    11. 12:43 I don’t think a good doctor would advice to totally stop metformin. My mom is the same with yours. Her A1C went back to normal level. Her primary physician reduced her Met to once a day. According to her doc, once you’ve been a diabetic, even though you’re in a normal level, it can be easily triggered to come back caused by a lot of factors (food, immobility, stress, etc).

      Delete
    12. Thanks for replying, 1:11! Yes, it made sense nga na eventually, huminto ka nga sa medicine since ang baba na nga ng sugar mo. And nadaan din pala sa healthier lifestyle. Actually, ganyan yung doctor namin, more than sa prescription ng gamot, kung manageable pa naman by changing lifestyle, yun muna ang susubukan. Congrats sayo for staying as disciplined as possible! :)

      Delete
    13. 1:20 But that’s what I did I stopped taking Met since July 2023 and i had a recent lab work - My Blood sugar control (Diabetes) is stable and at goal. normal Cholesterol, normal Cholesterol (HDL - Good cholesterol), normal Creatinine, normal Kidney Filtration Rate (GFR), normal Liver Function Tests , normal Potassium, normal Sodium, and the rest of my labs are normal.

Kasi nga sira na ang beta cells sa diabetes, and ever heard of the word insulin resistance? Sa haba ng palitan niyo ng comments, none of you bring about the topic of insulin resistance. You're just keeping diabetes at bay or under control because of LCIF but not really reversing it. Otherwise makakaya niyo na ulit kumain ng carbs at sugar without drastically spiking your blood sugar -- like a person with a normal blood sugar can. And pakisagot naman ang risk of gallbladder stones for fasting ang atherosclerosis for higher intake of saturated fats. I know so because I researched and tried them all. Nothing beats a balance diet/moderation in everything and a consistent exercise regimen. But then again as much as I try to help, to each his own.

      Delete
    17. By LCIF did you mean Liw Carb snd Intermitten Fasting? Try mo PubMed. Believe only scientific studies done with blind randomized trials. Also, if you font know yet, Dr Jason Fung, an advocate of IF, a nephrologist based in Canada, has written books on IF and diabetes. You can also read Dr Eric Westman, an advocate of LC He is an internal medicine doctor and obesity medicine specialist.

      Delete
    20. 3:33 and your point is? 😂😂😂 Saka na ko maniniwala sa'yo pag sure ka na sa meaning ng LCIF. you merely named Fung and Westman, then what? Nada

      Delete
Nasa YouTube yan. Lalo na si Fung. The thing is hindi mo naman nadeny o na contradict un point ko na once itigil ang LCIF tataas ulit ang sugar. Ergo hindi nareverse ang diabetes. Nacontrol lang

      Delete
    23. 11:56 Tama, kaya nga din they will repeat the labs every 6 months.

What a shame. I'm not opposing or questioning their results/doctors recommendation. All I am staying is diabetes is not reversible but can only be controlled. Hirap na hirap ka kasing intindihin un

But ganun talaga, mine started as gestational DM sa second child ko. Controlled naman na now, I'm glad to have a good endo doctor.

    2. I'm still breastfeeding din, still taking meds kahit normal na fbs ko.. binabaan lang dose ng meds ko kasi may episodes ako ng hypoglycemia. My dad died of DM complications kaya nakakapraning. He was taking meds since he was in his late 20s. Though hindi narereverse, it can be controlled

  5. Low Carb and IF ang sagot.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. You can't reverse diabetes. You can only control it. Syempre if you go low carb or fasting talagang bababa ang sugar mo.

      Delete

      Delete
    3. Not advisable ang IF lalo na diabetic. Babagsak ang sugar niyan. Very dangerous.

      Delete
    4. 10:33 It's reversible. You're putting a wrong connotation here.

      Delete
    5. Kapag borderline DM, possible. Yes, cancer loves carb/sugar.

      Delete
    6. 12:13 ikaw nagsspread ng lies. Reversible tapos?!?! Wala kang ngang nilagay na explanation eh. Kasi wala kang malagay. Nag provide ka lang ng conclusion. Hindi reversible ang diabetes, nacocontrol lang. Dahil low carb ka nga at nagfafasting so natural mababa blood sugar mo. Sus! Research ka din pag may time

      Delete
    7. This. Hindi cya reversible talaga! You can just control it through diet and lifestyle. Wag din ma bisyo like alcohol at yosi. You can manage it naman pero wala cya cure.

      Delete
    8. This is why advocates of low carb don’t call it diet. It is a lifestyle. To say na pag kumain ka ng sweet food and carbs tataas uli or babalik true naman yan. But this concept stems from an ignorance of the body’s metabolism, of how your body uses the energy derived from such. Yes. Type 2 diabetes is reversible kung mero kang disiplina at self control.

      Delete
    9. You can only reverse type 2 diabetes if you are borderline diabetic, its at the onset and hindi ka pa diagnosed because there are other factors why you might be getting high bloog sugar on your tests such as obesity. But once you are diagnosed you cant go back.

      Delete
-- Just like a person with normal blood sugar does. Kasi nga may sira na beta cells niyo. This stems from ignorance of how diabetes destroys beta cells and makes a diabetic insulin resistant. You still don't know how it works. Un sinasabi mong metabolism, I will put it correctly masyadong vague un iyo, or burning sugar while exercising pwede yan sa pre diabetic. Pero sa full blown diabetic it won't work anymore. Ignorance is not bliss

      Delete
    11. 341 Pinagsasabi mong ignorance of the body's metabolism?

      Delete
    12. 10:33, I can't help but comment dun sa understanding mo about reversible. Esp dun sa sinabi mo na if true reversible, kahit anong kakainin mo, dapat do na babalik high blood sugar mo or essentially diabetes. Think of like remission sa cancer. You may be cancer-free now pero it might recur again in the future. Yes, hindi di siya curable. Everyone, I'm sure can agree to that. But you can go back to clean slate, start anew. This time, limit or avoid mo na what brought to to become Type 2 diabetic in the first place (Type 1 is totally different) and the health complications that come with it. Isn't that hopeful? Na with changes and commitment to a healthy diet and lifestyle puwede maging ok ulit.

      Delete
    13. No. High blood glucose can also be triggered by stress, anxiety and even pain. Hindi lang pagkain. It can’t be reversed. So kahit controlled mo yan there is still a high chance na tumaas ang sugar mo because of other factors. So once you’re diagnosed to have it, hindi na sya marereverse. You can only control it.

    10. 10:31, galing from carbs. Carbs convert to sugar. Perhaps he is fond of refined carbs. Baka like nya mga bread, pasta, unli rice. The body converts carbs to sugar. There’s now a different paradigm about Type 2 diabetes and that paradigm is backed by science.

    4. Carbs are not inherently bad, especially fruits. If you completely eliminate carbs totoo na hindi tataas ang blood sugar but that will never address insulin resistance--you still need to be eating carbs na high in fiber to improve insulin sensitivity...kaya bihira ang mga doctor na magrerecommend ng keto diet. Refined sugar and processed foods ang harmful, especially when combined with a meal na mataas ang saturated fat.

    4. I think yung word na reverse is in the context of going back to pre-diabetic or normal blood sugar condition. Of course, it makes sense to keep off the foods and habits that led you to becoming fully diabetic. Wala naman nagsasabing, may magic bullet that will make it go away completely. But at least, you can now live in lesser risks from the dangers of its complications like heart and other inflammatory diseases.

    1. Bakit naman ilalagay mo pa sa tubig? Kainin mo na lang. Nung mahirap pa ako at estudyante, yan kinakain ko lakas ko pa magkanin. Wala akong diabetes. Ngayon pre na. Letse talaga

    2. @3:11But can you eat okra on a daily basis? I think mas realistic yung inumin sya daily. Hope somebody can provide a logical & personal experience info.

    3. Kasalanan din ng pharmaceutical companies. Used to be normal bs is 80 to 120. Now its 80 to 110. So halos lahat pre diabetic and gives them the reason to prescribe meds.

    5. Yes, 8:20, better nga kainin na lang. Consume more malunggay din and drink guava leaves tea. I was able to keep my blood sugar that way.

    6. True 7:35. Kahit nga pre-diabetic pa lang, binibigyan na agad statins instead of advocating lifestyle and dietary changes muna.

    7. Statin is not for diabetes. It is for high cholesterol. And pag pre-diabetes pa lang di pa bininigyan ng maintenance like metformin pero sa Pinas binibigyan na I think.

    1. 3:57, ako yung nag advocate reading Dr. Jason Fung. Yan din nakatulong sa husband ko with his NASH. With lifestyle and diet change, naiwasan niya mauwi sa cirrhosis ang condition niya. And to those who are in the same boat, drink black coffee 3 or 4 cups a day with a Mediterranean diet. Turo yan mismo ng 2 specialists niya here sa Canada. Also doon sa pilit ini-insist that reversible meant puwede ka ng bumalik sa dating gawi like eating all the carbs and sugar you want without affecting your blood sugar, that's not how it works. It meant going back further to pre-diabetes to normal blood sugar state but KEEPING the healthy lifestyle and diet you have made to remain in that state. This time, with the healthy choices and habits para hindi na ulit mapunta sa high blood sugar. I was able to do that and yes, yearly din akong nagpapa-check up as I'm already in my 50s and menopausal na din. And for those who are suffering na din from high cholesterol and hypertension, consider donating blood. May tulong ka na sa iba, it's also beneficial to your health. I'm a regular blood donor now and managed to stay off statin medications.

  33. When he said he shldve had it checked when he was younger is the current state ng most Pinoys coz walang health insurance na mandatory (or close to it) ang yearly physical.

  34. It’s reversible for T2 with lifestyle change, diet and discipline. There are a lot of studies on it available online (free info). Im not promoting any specific diet but whatever works for your body - it’s all about the balance. Our bodies will react differently to certain foods, what’s good for you may not be good for me and vice versa. Please educate yourselves, especially sa Pinas, we tend to miss getting annual check up kse not everyone has access to good healthcare. By the time na malaman mo too late na or your blood sugar is out of control na.

Sasbihin nila walang diabetes mga tao noon but before rarely do people get checked. Diabetes can lead to a lot of problems too like heart disease, kidney ad liver disease. A lot of diabetic patients are also on dialysis. So stop na sa mga unli na yan at yan ang magiging unli way nyo to heaven :)

  38. when taking fiber with or immediately after a meal, pag may bad carbs like white rice or white bread or regular pasta (a normal serving), the fiber will slow digestion and most likely, you will avoid a sugar spike. fiber examples are wheat bran, oat bran, psyllium husk, etc. downed with lots of water. this is my own journey, sumunod ako sa cdc recommendations (see below). i selected one soluble fiber (oat bran) and one insoluble fiber (wheat bran). i started with small amounts, di pwedeng biglaan, always during or right after mealtimes. then added a bit more each week till i reached the recommended amount per day. this works for me, as the cdc predicts, but **your mileage may vary** lalo na if you have a genetic predisposition. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR.

i just think of them as my dessert, and the price to pay kaysa magka problema sa sugar. nice bonus yung napakadaling magbanyo! kaya laging nalilinis ang colon. oat bran also helps regulate bad cholesterol. this is what i read:

    1. Increase your magnesium.inrake na din. It can be found in green, leafy veggies. And lakad lang kahit 30 mins daily. Do so yoga or other weight-bearing exercise. No need to enrol sa gym but develop a routine lang na laging gumagalaw. Even the simple act of using te stairs instead of elevator.

    2. Apparently veggies-->protein-->starch works as well to curb glucose spikes cause as 9:14 said, yung fiber forms a mesh that slows down carb absorption. They also found na walking after a meal also lowers bg in a significant way.

    1. True. And even if prescribed ka ng medication, that doesn't give you a pass to revert to your old diet. So sige lang, enjoy pa tin sweets at unhealthy carb choices.

Just cited some references na credible. Suggestion lang sa mga classmates na gusto ng additional info about diabetes, low carb and intermittent fasting. At yung commenter about mentioning metabolism. Ang metabolism po involves biochemical reactions. Conversion po ng mga kinain nyo into energy in layman’s term. Yang energy na yan is used for cell and tissue repair. Also wala pong essential carbohydrates pero merong essentisl fatty acids and essential amino acids (from protein). The preferred energy source of energy in metabolism is fat and not carbs. Hindi po ito pagmamayabang ng ka alaman. Dagdag info lang po sbout metabolism and how the food that we eat is converted to energy and or stored as fat in the liver amd adipose tissues. Anong kinalaman ng diabetes? Malaki po. Magbasa ma lang po. Ang paradigm po ay diabetes is one of those metabolic syndromes.

As far as I know it's definitely glucose. Nagbabago na yung understanding sa diabetes and more and more experts are starting to claim na it could be reversible. Isa sa mga compelling na discussions about this is yung kay Dr. Lustig at Dr. Means.

  43. Thats weird. Usually DM TYPE 2 is associated with obesity and Sam is fram from that. And 525 is way too high, sana nag pa check sya for DKA na rin.

    1. "Usually". But type 2 diabetes can still occur in people with normal BMI. Unusual but still very much possible.

    2. I thought of that, maybe he had DM Type 1 and was not diagnosed sooner. Usually DM 1 starts from childhood but people don't get diagnosed until they are in their teens like Gary V. I have a friend who is a doctor and he found out he has DM Type 1 when he was already in his 40's. He is suffering form both diabetic retinopathy and nephropathy but lucky to be still alive.

  44. DM 2 is reversible if caught in early stage and treated with either metformin with consistent changes in lifestyle ie exercise, diet, stress management, etc. 500 is way too high. He might have been super stressed lately. Also, if he was type , he would have had symptoms earlier in life. A1c is better predictor of glucose control.
