Contests like these should have meaningful purposes and involve helping others, not just focus on bikinis, beauty, and sex appeal, because that's too shallow. No wonder pageantry isn't taken seriously abroad, especially in wealthy countries. It's really just the Philippines that's so obsessed with it, likely because it's a third-world country where people don't have much else to occupy their time.
