Cheapskate Actor

Attendants at the spa were excited to see Famous Actor (FA) come to their place and avail of their services. FA is good-looking and expectedly, the workers had high expectations. For example, they expected him to be accommodating and friendly. As FA is known to have an attitude sometimes, the staff braced themselves for whatever mood he might be in. All they knew is that their business has a reputation for its services, which could have enticed FA to drop by.

FA has been in showbusiness for quite a while. Unlike his contemporaries, he had the right timing. FA did not have to go through any talent or look search. He had the looks and charm. More importantly, he filled the need for someone who embodied his looks. Luck was on his side and on his management too. FA was not only handsome; he was also talented. Through  several projects, FA honed his skills. However, FA had his own mind and it took time for him to accept he was already a household name.

Fast-forward to present times, FA had matured after several years and controversies. However, FA still had his old traits, which disappointed the spa staff. After FA availed their services, the staff checked the bill. They expected a huge tip, as he was, after all, a celebrity and already well-off. When they looked at the tip, the amount was not even a hundred bucks.

  7. Tipping becomes a must. Which is a turn off. Dito sa amerika expectation yan. Pati sa canada. Mga debit machine kahit sa food court unang bubungad sa screen tipping % option starting at 15% at least up to 30-40%. nakakawalang gana mag tip.

    2. Even in cabs dyan di ba need mag tip. I think kaya prevalent dyan is because di sila pinapasweldo ng maayos sa restaurant which should not be the case. Why arent restaurant owners not paying them enough? America has become so expensive pati dental and medical services super mahal. Well, you do have insurance pero pano yung walang wala talaga?

    3. True. Their services have been paid already.

    4. Atsaka babala sa mga nagtitip, may napanood ako na may daya pala yan suggested tip na yan, yon iclick mo yon 10% yon pala 15% ang maadd sa bill mo, so better na idouble check and do your own calculation para iwas mabudol.

    5. I am from Canada and I tip generously. Walang benefits ang mga restaurant and fast food servers unlike in European countries where tipping is not required. They get paid a living wage and enjoy benefits.

      Delete
    6. sa US and Canada yan. Dito sa Australia, walang tip.

    7. i agree. kaya nga "tip " ang tawag kasi you give it based on your experience. pag good service, at satisfied and happy ka, it is your prerogative kung magkano ang ibibigay mong tip. and vice versa. paano kung di ka happy at pangit service right? tipping should be voluntary and dapat walang amount. kumbaga bahala ang customer. nakakairita na ang "tipping culture" lalo na sa America. lahat feeling entitled.

    8. Bakit naman nkaka turn off? Well you can always choose the NO TIP option. I hope wala kang anak or relatives na nagwo work sa resto business as full time, part time or as a summer student help.

    9. I feel you. But I do not hesitate to leave a ZERO tip if service is horrible or sub-par. Sa Phils, kahit so-so. service I leave a good tip kase kababayan eh unless super tamad talaga si ate or kayak.

    10. Pangit nga yan wala kana option to not tip. Pano if you dont like the service? Imbyerna.

    12. I agree! Kelan pa to naging mandatory ang dating and mejo aggressive na. It should be gratuity kasi hnd naman lahat may luxury to tip. Appreciate sg and jp about tipping not aggressive.

      Delete
    15. Sa US lng underpaid and below minimum wage but not in Canada. Kaya sila nagdedepend sa tips. Pero sa Canada they are paid at least minimum wage.

Best kept secret ang server jobs kaya. a lot of them can earn as much or more than a working professional from earning tips alone kaya karamihan sa kanila ayaw pakawalan ang tipping system.

With inflation + tip on this economy. Pasalamat na lang nagbigay pa kahit maliit.

  15. Kapag umuuwi ako sa pinas nagugulat ako kapag automatic add-on sa bill ang tip na 10-15% because I live in a country that do not practice tipping.

    1. are you referring to the service charge? kami kasi pag may service charge na di na kami nagti-tip, minsan nagtitip pa rin pakonswelo sa mga servers... pero dito sa Pinas option ang mag tip or not

  16. Talented ba si X????

  17. We pay for the services already. Tipping is up to the discretion of the customer.

  20. If may service charge na, kahit wala ng tip, except if super excellent din talaga yung service. Pwede rin credit card yung pinambayad sa mismong service, pero walang smaller bill (like 100 or 500) for tip, masyado naman malaki yung P1,000.

    1. Kaya nagaalala ako kasi ang mga American tourists, they like to bring their tipping culture everywhere. Times are slowly but surely changing huhu.

  23. Bakit sila nageexpect ng malaking tip porket mayaman yung tao? Tips depend on the kind and quality of service you receive.

  24. this is C for sure
