    1. Most boring?

      Delete
    2. Don't believe everything knetizens say if I were you... Most likely the bashings that they are giving this year's AAA edition in the Philippines is fueled by their racism towards Filipinos.

      Delete
Pinas. Is that even surprising?

      Delete
  9. OA naman ng iba dito. 11:21
She made a lot of people laugh. Not everyone can pull that off..
    Hindi boring...

    1. sabi po nya "ako si Melai. i'm from the Philippines"

    2. Walang nagttranslate. Even sa speech nila e English. They are the few na natawa

      Delete
    3. Maybe they appreciated the effort na aralin yung phrase na yun.

    2. 12:11 being funny does not have to involve dumbing down and representing Filipinos as uneducated citizens. You can be both funny and smart at the same time. Talagang cringe

      Delete
    3. 12:11 Eugene Domingo is also a comedienne but she doesn't make a fool of herself.

      Delete
    5. 3.59 how sure are you? Napanood mo ba ang Kimmy Dora?

  16. Nega ng iba dito. I genuinely thought she was able to capture an Asian crowd who didn’t know her that well and she managed to say thank you to people she needed to thank, give credit to her coworkers in the process. Good job Melai!

    ReplyDelete
  17. She dumbed down her English just to be “funny.” πŸ‘Ž

    3. 12:19,that’s her true personality. Kahit sa Academy Awards yung mga comedian or even A list Actor tries to be funny to break the eyes.

    4. *break the ice . I am 4:40 before may mang bash . Lol

    6. That's a comedic act.Kaya magpakatotoo tayo.Natawa ang audience at natawa ang guests.Buti hindi boring

      Delete
    7. That’s her anxious self trying to cope with the situation.

      Delete
  18. Effort yata pasayahin ibang klasmeyts dito. Am sure boring kayo kasama.

    1. nakakahiya ibang classmates dito akala very formal daw dyan, e di naantok ang audience

Wake up call niyo yan na not every Filipino can speak English fluently. She was fun, she was being herself and it was funny.

    1. Not funny at all! Embarrassing kamo

    2. 10:27 lol .

      Delete
    3. Sorry ka na lang, the Koreans find her funny.

      Delete
    4. 10:07 why so? when the crowd who were there appreciated it

No wonder kulelat tayo sa lahat ng bagay...even our literacy rate.

    1. She’s a comedienne, that’s what got her there in the first place and why she won the award. Why should she all of a sudden change the way she is?

      Delete
    2. Opo pangit kabonding. These are actors not noble prize winners or ted talk.

      Delete
    3. the more proof kya mababa ang tingin ng mga koreans satin

    5. Did you hear the crowd; watched SB19, ZB1 enjoying her spiel? Melai , such a natural. She has raised the flag in her own way. Her message came across clearly and got loads of laugh. She was self-deprecating but her talent shone through; make me want to watch her movie Ma'am Chief now.

      Delete
    6. 7:39 Yeah, sure. No wonder lubog talaga entertainment industry natin. Basic manners lang wala

      Delete
    7. 7:39 Missing critical thinking skills. It's not about the fluency per se, yung inasal nung tao

      Delete
    8. 1:24 The issue is NOT the language used, but the conduct.

      Delete
    9. 1:43 Yun na standard, kapag may applause from SB19? Ginawa nyo talagang barangay event yang awards show na yan

      Delete
    10. Ano bang asal gusto mo? Comedian siya kaya tama lang na nagpapatawa.

      Delete
    11. its a comedy act. ano bang conduct gusto niyo? Melai is playing with the audience, hindi siya serious or dramatic actress, comedian. So stop criticizing her. The event is nit giving formal vibes or Bridgerton vibes

      Delete
May freedom of speech and expression, the audience loved it.

  22. sa totoo lang i felt ao embarass... they made the awards night cheap and low di nakakatuwa... Filipino are known how fluent we are in English tapos eto ihaharap nyo sa international stage?!? di na nga napuno venue panu last nov lang nagbenta... binigyan pa ng spotlight tong isang to... that event was a big failure... nakakahiya pa yung wala sa tono at pasigaw na pagkante ng sb19 na kung anu anu sinasabing adlib... nadala lang sa pagsayaw...

    ReplyDelete
  23. Nakakatawa talaga ang english barok.
    Hahaha! She’s so funny. LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  24. I get comments about 'comedy style', 'ganyan na ever since'.

But I also get those who felt uncomfortable, who say 'cringe' and who are embarassed watching this. Maybe, in part, it is because hanggang ganoon lang ba talaga ang level ng comedy natin?

If anything, I think they credit Filipino artists to have it in them not to sound so dumbed down while still delivering comedy.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Masama bang aminin, I felt embarrassed for us that we couldn't be better represented?

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  27. That cringe reaction is usually born out of the insecure middle class filipino’s need to come across as educated or moneyed by speaking english properly. Maybe socialize more or live abroad. Youd realize people dont really care lol - unless youre in the academe, of course. In that case stick to being a language nazi

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. 11:14 you’re right . Kung naka pag abroad ka especially 1st world countries, you will realize ang experience 1st hand na walang pakialam amg mga tao sa proper diction or grammar mo as long as you are able to send your message accross.

      Delete
    2. It's not about the english per se kasi. It's about getting your message across.

      Delete
    4. 11:14 Basic manners and proper conduct lang hinihingi, which isn't exclusive dapat the educated and moneyed. You get what you accept, so enjoy whatever you're being offered

      Delete

      Delete
    6. 1:02 where have you been ? The comments above were criticizing Melai , kesyo daw Pinas is known pa naman na fluent sa English. And with regards to manners, she didn’t do anything wrong. Gusto mo lang mag pasosyal ang tao which is never her brand. Sa Oscars nga andaming paandar ng mga actors to lighten up the mood of the spectators.

      Delete
    7. sige anong manners gusto mo palabasin 1:02kindly enlighten us. If this is Hollywood siguro pa kailangan prepared ang English pero maski na nga Cannes hindi kailangan English

      Delete
  29. She really looks overwhelmed. After seeing lots of her family reels, mukha namang she did not try to be funny. And although it looks like she was dumbing down pinoys in the eyes of other artists, with her grammar mistakes, keriboom lang naman kase karamihan sa mga foriegn artists na invited eh di rin fluent mag english. Congrats to her win and for making the gorgeous EXO Suho laugh and stare at her.

      Delete
  30. ok lang naman yung speech. May part na funny and may part din na usual enumerating those to thank for. But it is not really as funny as hyped. I don't really care if she does not speak English well in there. Di naman tayo kano.

    ReplyDelete

    1. I didn't feel it was also that funny.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I used to work with a BPO and na remember ko tuloy noon na umabot kami sa ganito: For every 100 candidates na naka usap namin, 4 lang ang di nagkaka lapse in grammar.
