  1. Kawawang elephant. Ito ba yung elephant na sobrang payat? Sana if the zoo is going to raise them in captivity, do the research muna.

    1. Yes. Mali was coined by the international press as “the loneliest elephant in the world”

    2. At 40 years na walang kasamang kauring elefante.

      Run free, Mali!

    3. He died rather young pa. Nasa 40 plus palang sya eh elephants in captivity daw umaabot hanggang 80 plus ang lifespan tapos they have no clue kung anong sakit nya. I remember Paul Mc Cartney and other international celebs pleaded to free Mali before... Sana binalik na lang sya sa Sri Lanka where his family is.

    1. Napag-iwanan na ng panahon ang Manila Zoo. It's too small to begin with. So cruel!

Buwagin na yan! Daming isla sa pinas, pick one where the animals can run free!

    1. Para kang bumibisita ng mga preso no? Yan ang feeling ko first time kong nagpunta ng Zoo at hindi pa sa Pinas ha. At mukhang ok nman ang Zoo but nakabakod kasi ang lugar nila.

  6. What a waste of life and a sad one. Mali didnt belong to the zoo in the first place. I feel bad for the animals not living in their natural habitat.

    3. Time ni Erap. May explanation din ngayon si Mayor Lacuña. Still doesn't add up, mas marunong pa mga pulitiko kesa sa mga animal welfare conservatories. Galing no?

    2. Manila Zoo asked Sri Lanka about their promise years ago to donate another elephant to them... Obviously, pangpalit nila kay Mali.
OMG! Please Sri Lanka stop donating elephant to us!

  12. OMG mix emotion.. finally free na si Mali.. then wala na yung Icon ng Manila Zoo.. and please wag na kayo mag attempt palitan ng panibagong elepante.

  13. Etong mga zoos, sana man lang kung herd animals iwasan na lang nila mag-alaga kung mag-isa lang sya in captivity. Sobrang depressing nyan to be constrained in a small space at hindi man lang makasalamuha kauri nila.

  14. Never forget what Erap said when we got offers of assistance for Mali's welfare: "Mali is just one elephant and sending her to Thailand would be embarrassing. It means we are not capable of taking care of one animal." Another better zoo in subic also offered to take and care for Mali. Pero presidente nyo nga nga.

Kung binigay niyo nalang sa Thailand or ibang bansa may redeeming factor sana ang zoo na they can do the right thing.

  16. Feel ko she died from stress and Siempre hinde nabibigay ng attention? Like check up and mga gamot. Jusko last kita ko diyan bata pa ako If I’n not mistaken 7 years old? That was like 25 years ago.. may gawd my age! Hahahaha

  18. Animals should not be confined in a small area. They need a big space so they can run wild and free. Kaya kawawa talaga yung mga kagaya nya.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Rest in Peace in Heaven's open spaces, our pachyderm friend. 🙏

  20. Zoos are cruel they shouldn't exist at all. Instead of that why not put the animals in a protected sanctuary or conservation parks. They're still in a controlled captivity but at least they're free to roam around. And only bring animals that cannot be released back to the wild because of safety reasons. Get a trained keeper that will treat them humanely and most important is to feed them well.

    1. May function ang Zoos which is education and preservation. There is a kind of Zoo that is more like an open safari like the ones in Germany and Japan. The budget is high so sobrang alaga ang mga animals at limited ang human interaction, they make the zoos more 'wild' than a commercial venture. Kung walang zoos, the younger generation will have a lesser degree of possible interaction and interest sa wildlife andnither animal species. Knowledge helps people become interested in the care and preservation of ajimals on the planet. Pero dapat may budget at hindi puchupuchu. Sa China, may panda preservation zoos sila. May jobs nga, to care and hug the baby pandas kasi need ng baby pandas and nurturing pero wala silang maraming panda parents so while the population is low, humans muna. They can do that kasi may budget at commitment para sa preservation ng species. Super involved sila sa preservation ng pandas.

    3. All that needs money.

  21. These animals should live in their free habitat. Hindi kinukulong.

  22. Utang na loon sana wag na kukuha ng elephant para pampalit hay mag ra rally talaga ako sa labas if that happens

  23. My heart breaks for animals like Mali... Most of his life, wala syang ibang elepante na nakita at nakasama. I really don't like zoos. Wild animals should be in the wild, not held in captivity.
Rest in Peace Mali.... I really hope there is heaven for animals like you and all our deceased pets where you all are free, happy and safe.

  24. Elephants and other wild animals should be living in a Safari not Zoo. Anliit na zoo ba naman.

  25. Am happy for Mali. He's now free from all his misery. Maraming salamat, Manila, sa pagpapahirap sa kanya.

  26. nung bata pa ako tuwang tuwa ako pag nakakita ng mga animals sa zoo. but as i get older i realized na these animals don't deserve to be in these cages, they deserve to be in their natural habitat. i feel bad for mali. di nya deserve na namatay syang ganyan na walang kasama at nasa hawla lang ng ilang taon. dapat nyan i-abolish na mga zoo sa buong mundo. kawawa mga animals, piniperahan lang ng mga politiko.

  27. Rest in peace, Mali 😔

  28. The only zoos I support are the safari ones where they're cared for and bred to help their species. The caged ones are awful and should've been outlawed ages ago.

  30. With the length of time na she was alone, wala na talaga siya chance to survive even with other elephants, malamang irereject lang siya. Kumbaga parang sinumpa na siya to live the rest of her days in solitude. Sobrang kawawa lang nya. Mabuti na rin at kinuha na siya ni Lord to end her suffering. Hopefully lang, this would serve as a lesson sa bansa natin, regarding zoos and humane treatment of animals. Sana si Ma'ali na ang kahulihulihang elephant or zoo animal na mamamatay in that condition.

  31. Mali didn't even get to experience freedom all his life, you're free now.RIP

    ReplyDelete
  32. Thanks Mali. Kahit di kita nasilayan man lang.
    You're now free!

  33. Ang mga elephants, big numbers silang magkakasama. It doesn't matter if may nakitang cancer kay Mali or wala. Point is, inhumane pa rin na ikulong sya for decades at walang kasama. Cruel, cruel people. This is why I never support zoos. Oo, may magandang dulot sa ating mga tao (learning, recreation, study and observation, tourism) and yes, inaalagaan sila. Pero nothing compares to them living in their natural habitat and interacting with other animals.

For goodness sake, can they just please stop?!

Yikes!
