I used to be one and in a group too pero ngayon mas gusto ko na simple na lang yung mga araw ko. Sa isang linggo may prayer meetings, bible reflections and other activities. Don't get me wrong, it got me through tough times and I've met lots of wonderful people but kinda clique-ish din sila and nakakapagod din na maraming ganyang activities. I read some comments here & the previous post, but I can’t believe some people commented what a “true Christian” should “follow.” Besides believing in God, “Christian” churches have 45,000+ denominations (globally) w/biblical interpretations that at times differ from one another. How are you sure your church is correct, since there are “Christians” here in the U.S. that celebrates Halloween. I’m not even a fan of Rica nor am I defending her.

Halloween, just like Christmas, has become a social celebration through the years rather than a religious celebration. Many cultures/people also celebrate Christmas even tho they are not Christians. Eto ang di ma gets ni Rica. It's not a matter of who's right or wrong. Her family's actions are causing others in the faith to stumble. To give you an analogy, to some Christians, ok lang kumain ng dinuguan. Pero for some other Christians (I don't want to say which side ang nakakarami), "unclean food" sya. So kung ikaw na strong ang faith ang paniwala mo it's ok, you won't eat dinuguan in public kasi nga baka those who are "weaker" in faith might stumble. You are doing it out of love for your brethren and not trying to insist in your right to eat whatever you like. Marami kasing klaseng Christian pero pastor kasi ang asawa nya kaya need talaga nila to be faithful sa mga teachings. I know tao lang din naman sila kaya hindi maiiwasan na madapa from time to time pero with this issue, they can say no to halloween easily pero they still participated kaya hindi maiwasan na mapuna. Best na maging humble and learn from this as opposed to justifying it lalo na at obvious naman na mali.

Know-it-all and very preachy kasi karamihan sa mga yan kaya gets ko din bakit todo explain si Rica kasi nga part sila ng community as long as pastor ang hubby nya. Literal kasi ang pinakamaliit na bagay papalakihin ng mga yan. Kahit 1 month na walang access sila sa life mo, you'll start to heal. LOL
ReplyDeleteI used to be one and in a group too pero ngayon mas gusto ko na simple na lang yung mga araw ko. Sa isang linggo may prayer meetings, bible reflections and other activities. Don't get me wrong, it got me through tough times and I've met lots of wonderful people but kinda clique-ish din sila and nakakapagod din na maraming ganyang activities. Now I prefer to spend all the time I used to spend sa prayer meeting with family na lang.

DeleteI read some comments here & the previous post, but I can’t believe some people commented what a “true Christian” should “follow.” Besides believing in God, “Christian” churches have 45,000+ denominations (globally) w/biblical interpretations that at times differ from one another. How are you sure your church is correct, since there are “Christians” here in the U.S. that celebrates Halloween. I’m not even a fan of Rica nor am I defending her.

6:58 for Catholics hindi bawal. I went to a Catholic school here in the U.S. when I was younger & kids wore costumes in school + we went trick or treating afterwards. There are also Christians here in the U.S. that celebrate Halloween.

Many cultures/people also celebrate Christmas even tho they are not Christians. I think how you celebrate both personal, but if you’re a pastor’s family and you try to justify your acts by bending the ‘rules’ to fit your narrative then it becomes sus. napaka righteous naman kasi talaga ni girl sa mga paandar nya!

DeleteIt’s just so simple kasi. November 1 is All Saints Day when Christians remember all the martyrs and saints who have passed. November 2 is All Souls Day when believers pray for the faithful departed. That’s the meaning why we commemorate them here in the Philippines. Yung costume costume is Westernized and is really a foreign concept kaya gulo gulo na.

DeleteEto ang di ma gets ni Rica. It's not a matter of who's right or wrong. Her family's actions are causing others in the faith to stumble. To give you an analogy, to some Christians, ok lang kumain ng dinuguan. Pero for some other Christians (I don't want to say which side ang nakakarami), "unclean food" sya. So kung ikaw na strong ang faith ang paniwala mo it's ok, you won't eat dinuguan in public kasi nga baka those who are "weaker" in faith might stumble. You are doing it out of love for your brethren and not trying to insist in your right to eat whatever you like. In Rica's case, mas importante sa kanya that she's right and that others who call her out are automatically bashers or hypocrites or whatever else she called them in her essay. Totally devoid of live and grace.

Maraming food (gluttony), bibili ng mga material na bagay, iinom, mag flex ng mga kung anong nabili nila. Parang minimal na lang si Christ sa Christmas celebration which is sad.
