Anyway I love Christmas because it's the b'day of Jesus kaya nga CHRISTmas eh. Don't forget that people hindi un nagpapakalunod kayo sa commercialism ng pasko

  2. Ako lang ba na ang tingin sa Ber months-long christmas chuchu is so Filipino toxic culture? I get it we love Christmas pero sobra naman yung September pa lang may ganyan nang paandar. May halloween pa at thanksgiving, heller! Ito namang mga mainstream companies and big businesses like shopping malls pinopromote pa para mind conditioned mga tao na bumili ng bumili dahil “season” of giving. Hayy Pilipinas… 🙄

    1. Why is it toxic? Does it harm you or anyone?

      Delete
    2. Halloween and Thanksgiving cannot be considered part of Filipino culture...but Christmas is. Yes, big companies are using this season to encourage Filipinos to spend, but the same goes for big companies abroad they also encourage the same thing for Halloween and Thanksgiving.

      Delete
    3. Naku 5:36 nega ka, hindi maganda yan ultimo mo happy thing like Christmas. Hindi naman lahat sa pinas is following holiday commercialism kasi madaming walang budjay to do it. They just try to find joy in things like Christmas.

      Delete

      Delete
    5. As a Filipino, wala tayong Thanksgiving. Christmas is our Thanksgiving. Halloween is not even a holiday. Raulo

      Delete
    6. Hindi naman holiday sa pinas ang thanksgiving. Ok ka lang?

      Delete
    7. I got you! Ako after Halopa talaga nag seset up ng christmas decors.

      Delete
    8. True. It may be an uplifting and cheerful holiday to look forward to pero in these time of economic difficulties, it sets unnecessary pressure and stress din. Aminin naman natin, very commercialized ang pasko.

      Delete
    9. Ikaw lang toxic lol

    10. Di ka naman pinipilit bumili

      Delete
    11. Wala namang Halloween at Thanksgiving sa Pinas. Haaay 5:36PM 🙄

      Delete
    12. Ang nega mo naman. Kahit naman hindi pasko syempre businesses encourage people to buy things.

      Delete
    13. Heller ka din! Walang Thanksgiving sa Pinas!

      Delete
    14. Ssssshhhhhhh let people enjoy things

      Delete
    15. Ikaw lang, 0536. Ikaw lang ang toxic. Let other people decide what they want to celebrate. Hindi buong mundo may thanksgiving. Malapit sa pinoy ang pasko. May masabi ka lang na taga-stets ka.

      Delete

      Delete
    18. May thanksgiving ba sa pilipinas???

      Delete
    19. True. Pero tradition na kasi talaga and it gives the children hope and happiness, I think.

      Delete
    20. For me, its not toxic but more of OA kasi nga super aga ang pagcelebrate. But i do understand why it is toxic.

      Delete
    21. No one is forcing us to spend for Christmas as early as September. Excited lang talaga ang karamihan sa ating Pinoy na mag Pasko and I don’t see anything wrong with that. We still commemorate yung All Saint’s Day/All Soul’s Day pa rin naman during November. Yung Thanksgiving has nothing to do with Pinas. Nakiki ride lang din naman tayo sa hype nun which I think is more silly than celebrating Christmas early.

      Delete
    22. 5:36 toxic pinoy culture ba talaga? It's not like we are more commercialised or spend more than foreigners do on presents just because we listen to Xmas songs early. In countries like US and UK nga luxury items at expensive gadgets pa ang usong pangregalo. The concept of buying presents did not come from us so no need to roll your eyes at Filipinos who are just having fun

      Delete

      Delete
    24. Okay lang yan sis kalmahan mo lang. Di naman tayo nagcecelebrate ng Thanksgiving and yung Halloween more on yung Araw ng mga patay naman talaga ang hinohonor natin

      Delete
Wt?! I hate the sight of Halloween displays na from dark elements tapos, biglang may parol, Sta.Clause & Raindeers, & the Nativity. Tapos my biglang grim reaper sa banda doon lol!

    34. Di lang sa pinas.Sa UK ganyan din in some shops nauna pang idisplay ang christmas decors kesa Halloween 3rd week pa ng Aug.

      Delete

      Delete
    36. Uh, we do not celebrate Thanksgiving here, heller!

      Delete
    37. Ang toxic ng comment na to. Lol. #Typikal

      Delete
    38. Count me in! I don't know whether most people really feel the spirit of Christmas if they start playing songs or putting up decorations as early as September. It kinds of kill the vibe for me but I can't avoid it kasi kahit hindi ka pa ready, yung mga kapitbahay mo nagpapaligsahan na magpatugtog at magkabit ng lights. Parang kapag birthday mo, excited ka lang kapag birthday month mo na, not even a month earlier.

      Delete
    39. I bet you live outside the PH thats why you dont get the hype. Pero sa mga pinoy sa pinas this is very important, masaya ung feeling and the spirit of christmas is everywhere. After dec 25.. tapos na back to work ulit kaya madaming may depression.

      Delete
    40. Ikaw lang yung toxic. Everyone's looking forward to celebrate Christmas. Kelan pa naging mali yung pag look forward ng pasko ?

      Delete

And I say cut ties with them. Christmas is a time to celebrate God and meaningful relationships, not gifts and parties.

      Delete

      Delete
    44. 5:36 cancel na rin ba natin christmas?

      Delete
    45. 5:36 Kung ganito kasimpleng bagay may issue syo then I guess hindi lang ito ang issues mo sa buhay. Imagine isang masayang season nagawa mo pang bigyan ng issue kaloka. So what if Filipinos here in Pinas want to start the holiday season ng September? Hayaan mo nga kami pwede? Gusto mo sa June ka na mag pasko we don't care.

      Delete
    46. Ano namang toxic dun? Gawin mo yan everyday

      Delete
    47. So naiinis ka dahil ang aga mag celeb ng pasko pero at the same breath, you also mention celebrations such as Halloween and Thanksgiving (which is also commercialism) . Ano ba talaga ati?

I’d rather put up Christmas decors noh na most of the time naman talaga is recycle lang naman from the past years than decor the house with dark halloween theme. Saka wala

      Delete
    54. Kill joy ka lng

      Delete
    55. Toxic is not the right word. It’s more like putting pressure on us to celebrate early. Parang hinog ba sa pilit.

      Delete
    56. 5:36 Hirap mo namang pasayahin! Basta all I know ay d best Pa din Pasko satin sa Pinas 🥰

      Delete
    57. 7:43 parang mali yung comparison mo mamsh. The difference is that when it's your birthday, only friends and family celebrate with you. E yung Christmas, buong mundo yun. Natural madami excited. For me, I DO feel the holiday vibe when I start to play Christmas songs as early as September. Makes me think of the gifts I want to give my loved ones.

When people want to enjoy harmless things like this, let them. Kayo yung nagiging toxic by calling out something that isn't even hurting anyone. Just roll your eyes and carry on with your life.

      Delete
    58. Luh? Mas nakafocus pa sila sa All Saints Day & All Souls Day na celebrasyon.

      Delete
    61. Alam mo INC ako and wala kami pasko, pero di sya toxic for me. It is a happy long season. So keep the toxicity to yourself.

And noone is forcing anyone to buy anything. For me, maganda ang naidudulot ng September pa lang excited na sa pasko. It brings joy especially sa mga bata. Far from toxic.

      Delete
    87. Girl, walang Halloween at Thanksgiving dito. pinagsasabi mo. Hindi po tayo colony ng US. Ang meron tayo ay all saints/soul's day. Kung ayaw mo mag-celebrate, huwag kang bitter. Pang-good vibes talaga yang early celeb, kung not for you eh dun ka sa ibang bansa na parang walang pasko.

      Delete
Maybe it's their way of coping sa kanilang sad state of life. Magsaya kahit papano. Yes, Christmas sa Pinas is part of commercialism to encourage people to spend. Imagine 1/3 of the year you're encouraged to adapt the Christmas spirit of giving. Well if you have nothing to give, don't. If you have something to give eh give to the less fortunate.

Epal!

Baka may magreply diyan at sabihin killjoy ako.

    1. No, you're not a killjoy. Valid nararamdaman. Nasa abroad ako but I have a group chat with friends back home, who express the same sentiment. That they started to dread the ber months as it induces anxiety and mind conditioning pressure.

Well, it's really how you look at things, half-full or half-empty. And now, handa n lng sa noche buena ang pinakahinahandaan nmin kasi un nman tlga ang main point ng pasko. Konting decor lang and no xmas lights na dhil dagdag gastos lang, lalo n sa kuryente.

    4. Ang medyo acceptable for me na Thanksgiving tradition na ina-apply sa Pinas is yung Black Friday Sale. Kaya lang yung mga sale naman dito satin is not as good as the deals in US. LOL.

    6. Sa totoo lang, we dont really celebrate Christmas starting Sept 1. May Christmas party ba in September? I think it's merely recognizing the start if the season. Some decorations here and there. But may families dont really put up full decors by Sept 1. Even Ayala ave dont light up on Sept 1.

  17. I LOVE CHRISTMAS! I celebrate it any time of the year, whenever I want to. It's not just about the gifts... I personally love the childlike atmosphere and all kinds of creativity that surrounds Christmas.

I don't care about creepy, weird halloween because it looks like pura luka vega is the main character in that one. Yikes!

  21. I had good Christmas memories as a child until I got jaded nung adult na (daming gastos, sobrang traffic during christmas rush, introvert ako so i dislike parties/gatherings).

  23. i agree toxic trait to. i remember nung bata ako people waited pa after november 1 then as soon as tapos na, yan na christmas na. ngayon sept? it is this party culture the marketing people want to propagate. alam nyo anong observation ng mga foreigners? feilipinos celebeate all the time. it isnt bec they celebrate for celebration's sake of milestones. party culture lang talaga masyado sa atin kaya walang mga pera at puros utang. toxic to. i see much richer people than us hindi sila ganito party ng party. wala tuloy focus mga tao sa trabaho and doing proper service. nililibang mga tao to divert attention sa panget ng buhay. it also boils down to laziness. ayaw magtrabaho ang daming spare time tapos short cut magtrabaho and nakaw.

    1. It depends on which part of the fence you belong. I'm a business owner -- I know it's weird -- but I actually appreciate Xmas. It's something to look forward to. It breaks our dreary existence.

    2. Pinagsasabi mo eh dito sa ibang lugar they have thibgs for autumn, for halloween and christmas.

As long as nag-eenjoy kami, we don't care kung ano sasabihin ng iba. It's none of their business kung maaga magcelebrate ng Christmas. Na-iconnect mo pa ang laziness huh lol

If not, pls try not to minimize this little thing that gives people joy - now that’s toxic, feeling miserable and dragging people down with you. Love from Tita of Manila w big fan reeking of original Chloe hahahaha.

    7. Wala ka siguro happy childhood memories of Christmas . The truth is nag start iyang ber months celebration ng Christmas nung dumami ang malls. Yes, it‘s a marketing strategy pero nasa tao naman kung gusto mo na gumastos o hindi. kung may pera ka it‘s favorable kasi less stress kesa mag last minute shopping. Ako , I enjoy listening to Christmas carols and it‘s always bring a happy mood.
