Congress is in session while Arjo is in Europe for three weeks for his honeymoon slash working trip. He could have just taken a short trip for the premiere and then gone back home immediately so as not to miss the sessions in Congress. But he extended his travel because it is also his honeymoon. At the same time, since he is not on official leave (since he is meeting with OFW groups as a legislator and attending the premiere because he is vice chair of that arts committee - it is all in the official document ) he will still be drawing a salary. Even if he is not in the country to attend the sessions of Congress. So in a sense, he is STILL using public funds for the trip. Maybe Arjo and Maine could have deferred that nearly month long trip to when Congress is in recess. But it looks like this trip was planned a while back.

DeleteCongress is in session while Arjo is in Europe for three weeks for his honeymoon slash working trip. He could have just taken a short trip for the premiere and then gone back home immediately so as not to miss the sessions in Congress. But he extended his travel because it is also his honeymoon. At the same time, since he is not on official leave (since he is meeting with OFW groups as a legislator and attending the premiere because he is vice chair of that arts committee - it is all in the official document ) he will still be drawing a salary. Even if he is not in the country to attend the sessions of Congress. So in a sense, he is STILL using public funds for the trip. Maybe Arjo and Maine could have deferred that nearly month long trip to when Congress is in recess. But it looks like this trip was planned a while back.
