    1. There are constructive ways of saying that. Unfortunately, public figure siya, ex-beauty queen and director pa ng beauty pageant.

    2. I don't think you understand just how grave the struggles of the film industry are right now. Disney movies are performing poorly, even Mission Impossible missed. Barbie and Oppenheimer brought the crowds out the way other movies haven't been able to throughout this year except for maybe Super Mario Bro, so she should watch her mouth. I just learned the other day one of my pre-Covid fave malls' movie house is closed on weekdays and opens now ONLY on Saturdays and Sundays. This is the state of the film industry now and MJ thought it was ok to have an opinion for someone like her whos such a public figure and blast out her negative opinion? No.1 RULE of beauty queens being trained for personality development is if you have nothing good to say, refrain from saying anything at all. That's like the MOST common sense thing esp. given her platform.

Is she heartless? Is she unaware how many people are hired by this industry fighting for its life right now that she is trying to bring down a peg or two with her tactless opinion? Aside from the fact she JUST criticized a movie that just broke several records. And THIS, this is how you know when someone has substance or doesnt. She makes a faux pas and when given the chance to correct it, she doubles down. It is as if she is no beauty queen. Sayang training sa kanya.

    4. 11:29 based on your long long comment, you are for Hollywood. That is MJ's opinion. She thinks the movie is a waste of money. Hollywood strike right now is a different reason. The writers and actors want a piece of the pie from big company earnings. Madlang people has no obligation to save their sinking ship.

      Delete
    5. Anon 1129. Are you serious? Lol. I don't think mj is as influential as you think she is that her negative comment would negatively impact a movie. She paid to get entertained and if she didn't find the movie entertaining, that's her own opinion. I'd put a boundary when these influencers are intentionally disparaging a movie for a selfish motive BUT again, she spent her own money so why can't she express her disappointment. If anything, movie makers should worry about legit movie critics such as ROTTEN TOMATOES. sometimes, that can make or break their earnings.

    6. I was talking about a local cinema. And I was NOT talking about Hollywood. I am talking about the film industry in general. Namimigay ng 50% tickets yung local cinema that only opens on Saturdays and Sundays. PLUS, their promo started in June but got extended to July, ganon kawalang nanood, that is how dire things are. Madlang people are hired by the local film/movie industry so I would think yes, gusto nyo salbahin ang trabaho nila.

    9. Its just sad na she didnt appreciate the message of the movie. Ang daming life lessons for women, inclusivity, etc. For someone who joined a pageant its not all beauty and for her to miss the message & look pass the visuals, prod etc kung di niya type eh nakakasad. The way she expressed her opinion pa naman was tasteless. But not judging her i guess its her personality

      Delete
    10. 2:06 then that means that the movie missed its point in conveying the message. it's not the viewers obligation to like it or see it as it is. the creator has to show it in a way understandable for all types of viewers. at the end of the day, mj too has the right to express her disappointment, and it should not define her intellect, as this is just a movie, and like any other arts, anyone can interpret it in a way they see it

      Delete
    11. 11:29 so what kung nalulugi ang film industry?

    5. I did not attempt to watch it. Trailer palang wala ng sense. I’m with MJ on this. Sayang talaga pera.

      Delete
    7. I actually like the movie. Kailangan may background ka sa creators ng Barbie and the very reason why Barbie the doll exists to appreciate the movie. Otherwise, aakalain mong pambata or pa-woke.

      Delete

      Delete
    9. Yes it’s worth it, if you skip to the woke part and focus on how it brings up childhood memories (if you play barbie before lol) nostalgia kasi mostly and i think 80s/90s babies will relate more

    10. Dami nyong kuda di pa pala kayo nanuod. I've seen the trailer before and told myself never gonna watch it. Lately nag-iba isip ko so i watched it with my kids. Di naman mataas expectation ko but for those people na alam nila background sa barbie ay nagustohan talaga. Also, may moral lesson. I let the other scenes pass coz mas preferred ko kasi manuod ng action films. But i have to give due credits to the actors with their superb acting especially Ryan Gosling as Ken. So for Mj to say something not so pleasant, okay lang naman mgka opinion but the words she used were kinda off. It would've been okay if she's a good actress or a director or a certified movie critic but she's none of those.

  16. She's entitled to her opinions. And people are entitled to question her opinion. Not all opinions are correct, some are even downright stupid lol

"Sobrang waley". You can't call a movie that, because it's based on what? Production quality? Script? Acting? Visuals? Anong waley sa Barbie? Lots of people expected it to be like cartoons, dolls just playing around, all fun and goofy, and were disappointed that it is actually deeper and deals with serious issues that women deal with in real life. Kung hindi mo gets yun, obviously maiinis ka sa movie and you'd think walang kwenta kasi you didn't get the point. Maybe ganun si MJ. Didn't get the movie at all so for her it was nonsense.

  20. Filipinos not liking the Barbie movie is a given. Majority still celebrates patriarchy and many Filipino women are the first to tear down other women, are anti-choice, always judging but disguising it as "it's my opinion", blame women for being abused and cheated on, and still believe women need to be married and have children to be seen as worthy and respectable. Of course you'd hate Barbie. It's the opposite of what you continue to push and believe in.

  61. Comparing Barbie to liking Little Women??? Little Women is a different theme movie!

  62. not liking it does not mean you can't understand it. it's just not her tea, baka gusto niya yung pang-MMFF ganon haha

  63. Ang aarte nyo. Totoo namang waley.

  64. Watched the movie, and I am with Mj. It’s not worth the money. I think overhyped yung movie. No question with the message of the story, but ung movie itself hindi talaga worth it.

  65. opinion nya yun eh

  66. Netizens should ignore this never been. She wasn't successful as a beauty queen, and now trophy wife na lang sya. Enjoy Barbie. This never been ex beauty queen doesn't set the standard of good taste.

  67. As much as I disagree with MJ, I don't see anything wrong with her expressing her opinion. There's this thing about agreeing to disagree naman siguro and last time I checked, we still have freedom of speech and expression lol

Lol

  70. Barbie is an escapist film, a fantasy. I am not sure what MJ was expecting when she watched the film? She should have been more precise to avoid the backlash against her opinion. But then again, since she likened it to a school project, she should have just opted for Oppenheimer. Baka mas magustuhan nya ang historical drama para mas may 'substance' for her.

  71. This movie is not really for beauty queens : funny na kailangan nya mag comment about it. Barbie might not be an in thing in her generation but in the 70's and 80's grew up knowing Barbie. It is not feminist it is what it is. The maarte girls can relate to this. Later generation can't really appreciate it.

  72. panget naman talaga.

  73. If you didnt play barbie when you were a child, hindi mo talaga maappreciate tong film na to. Andame ko barbie when I was a kid, the house, car, super madame clothes. Grabe so much feels.

  74. Greta Gerwig is soooo overrated. She gets away with it because she always pulls the feminist card. 🙄🙄

Talaga ba?

  76. It's not for you okay.

  77. I disagree with her, i like the Barbie movie. But we dont need to drag her just becausw she didnt like it.
