Most of their players are mixed blood din. Konti lang ang masasabing their players are born and raised in their respective countries.

    6. This team needs our support instead of bashing. We are underdogs and they are trying their best to bring honour to Philippines.

      Delete
    2. So Ano sila?

      Delete
    3. Years ago, Bolden was offered an opportunity to play sa US but she chose the Philippines.

      Delete
    4. Si Akiko Thompson nga, not an ounce of Pinoy blood in her but she is widely known as a Filipina.

      Delete
    5. Ganyan di ba comment mo ke Wesley So representing the US? Di naman sya amerikano, ganun?

      Delete

      Delete
    8. Ako din, 11.55. Napagoogle ako bigla. Tingan mo nga yun, foreign blood pero proud to represent and be called a Filipino.

    9. @11:55 Gillian Akiko Nakamura Thomson was born on October 8, 1974 in Washington, D.C. in the United States. The youngest of three children, Akiko was born to a Japanese mother from Hiroshima, Hiroko Nakamura and American father, James Marsh Thomson.

    3. Baka half sila

      Delete
    5. They wouldn't qualify if they weren't. Isip isip

      Delete
    6. They're half Filipinos.

      Delete
    7. Mag research po kayo. Mabilis lang naman. May nagsabi pang umeeksena. Reeks with too much bitterness and negativitiy di na lang maging masaya.

      Delete
    8. Talaga ba?

      Delete
    10. Sad, athletes woth Fil blood who didnt qualify for the US-Australian Team will then represent then Represent the Phils and declare they are proud to be Pinoys.happens a lot during olympics

  7. Ayaw ko magtanong
I just want to congratulate them na lang

Just so you know, these girls are already in THE FIFA WORLD CUP.

      Delete
    3. Baks world cup na yan. A feat na di natin kailanman na-achieve lol

      Delete
Also, these girls have benn signed to clubs outside of the Philippines dahil magaling talaga sila (europe, australia, and asia).

      Delete
    5. Yung Basketball players nga natin ilang taon ng puro puso, nganga nman. Lol

  9. They are all at least half-Filipinos in their genes and cultural upbringing. The team was built up with no support from the Philippine government but mostly from support in the US. As a mom of halfies, my sons grew up very aware of their Filipino roots although they were born & bred here in the US (with a European dad). They grew up knowing & appreciating their Filipino side of the family, eating puto, hopia, sinigang, etc. Call their aunts & uncles, & my friends Titas & Titos. Half Filipinos in their souls. Just like the Philippine team.

    1. Tama!

      Delete
  10. Congratulations!!! Keep going!

    ReplyDelete
  11. All if them are half-fil. I heard from an interview of their team managet, almost 0 funds from the govt. After nilang nanalo sa sea games, puro galing private effort na ang funding njla esp during training for world cup

    ReplyDelete
  12. They all have Filipino blood. They are proud to be Filipino, playing for the Philippines and They are making our country proud. That's what matter.

    ReplyDelete
  13. kung inaangkin at pinagbubunyi natin ang mga halfies (at 1/4s and 1/8s) sa hollywood, bakit hindi itong mga halfies or abroad-raised pinays na piniling maglaro at i-represent ang bansa natin when they have other lucrative opportunities elsewhere? some of them have contracts in europe, japan, australia etc. yet they're here. may magulang silang pinoy, let's not take that away from them. and look where they have taken us. kahit one-off lang, nasa history books na ito, tayo.

    ReplyDelete
  14. 1:02 same with my kids, eventhough they get bullied by some Pinoys kasi they're "half bred" I always tell them to still be proud of their roots.

    ReplyDelete
  15. They all have some Filipino blood or else they can’t play for our country. Kung makahusga kayo pero panay ang root nyo sa NBA teams nyo while these girls work hard to represent us.

    1. True.

      Delete
    4. Ang difference these half Pinoys have foreign exposure. Itong Gilas most of the players PBA lang ang exposure. Level of basketball play sa atin mababa.

      Delete
  16. As usual it's the women again bringing glory to the Philippines. I hope this encourages cultivating home grown talents. As much as I appreciate these half Pinoys paano naman yung taga atin wala ng chance kasi walang exposure walang funding walang opportunities.

  17. They are proud of their heritage naman. They have one parent or grandparent na Filipino.

  18. Ang daming nagmamarunong sa comments. Please read about them before making dumb comments. Yes, 18 out of the 23 players were born in the US but they all have Filipino blood. Miss Universe nga puro half din di ba. These players still chose to play for the Philippines so we should congratulate and thank them for giving pride to the Philippines. First ever World Cup and first win!

Yang Football all over the world ang kasikatan kapag magaling ka.

  19. Grabe ang galing!! Lalo yung fielder jusko lampas 10 yata naharang nya!!!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Grabe nag iiyak ako and napasigaw when the goal was made and nung natapos yung game. Historic win. Hoping football gets bigger sa Pinas. Been playing football since I was a kid and pahirapan talaga to get support. Now that I'm past my competitive years, traveling to NZ to watch these girls final group game coz I know how much support means to athletes like them.

  22. I was there last night at Sky Stadium with my Kiwi husband and 6yo son. Grabe proud Pinoy moment to snatch the game away from the host country Philippines was the underdog in a sell out match but they managed to hold their nerves and defend their lead. Wish we have more Pinoy athletes we can be proud of in such a big sporting stage like wirld cup.
