Vanessa Hudgens is so sweet and accommodating. She doesn’t deserve to be dragged into this.”
This has been the main message of a reporter who personally witnessed the supposed hullabaloo that happened at Hollywood star Vanessa Hudgen’s press conference in Bonifacio Global City yesterday.
Philstar.com was also at the event to cover and spoke with several media personalities present. We choose not to name these press people to spare them from bashing or further scrutiny.
According to non-eyewitness claims, director Paul Soriano, who is directing Hudgens’ travel documentary about her Filipino heritage, was seen shouting and causing a commotion because he allegedly hates the press. But according to eyewitness accounts, including that of Philstar.com, Soriano did not maltreat or argue with the press. Philstar.com has interviewed Soriano several times before, and never had an issue with the director, who was actually very pleasant and quotable.
“What I saw is that Paul was arguing with a staff, not the press, because he was surprised that there were one-on-one interviews after the presscon, and he seemed to be not informed about this,” a reporter told Philstar.com in an online call this morning.
“But Paul never raised his voice. Hindi n’ya rin kami pinalayas (He also did not impolitely dispatched the press),” the reporter attested.
One of Soriano's staff members reached out to Philstar.com and clarified that the director knew there were one-on-one interviews, he just wanted to rush things up because they still had to shoot more scenes for the documentary before Vanessa flew out.
Another reporter affirmed to Philstar.com that the interviews were indeed cut, so a prominent TV host, who came very early to the event in anticipation of an exclusive interview, was unable to do so.
Another reporter told Philstar.com in a separate online call that she spoke with the TV personality who was cut and the TV host was indeed “frustrated” to be unable to interview, but according to the reporter, as a journalist, the TV host understands that this happens and interviewees have the right to refuse interviews. As consolation, the TV host was able to take pictures with Vanessa, a privilege that not many media people had at the presscon. Other reporters were actually even very thankful to Paul for the interview opportunities.
When asked why food was not served to many media members at the event, one of Paul’s staff told Philstar.com in an online call this morning that it was no longer the director’s fault anymore since contrary to claims, he did not order to deprive the media members with food and this did not have anything to do with the alleged commotion.
After the interviews were cut, Philstar.com and other remaining media members heard Vanessa singing “Dahil Sa’yo” behind closed curtains because it is said to be going to be included in her travel documentary.
A reporter told Philstar.com that she was told by a staff that the media was dispersed earlier than expected to give way for Paul’s wife Toni Gonzaga to have an interview exclusive with Vanessa.
All the while, the Hollywood star was praised because amid the commotion, she remained “very calm and composed.”
The reporter feels that Vanessa does not deserve to be bashed just because Soriano, a President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. supporter, is directing her travel documentary.
“She had no complaints or anything bad to say about her stay here in the Philippines,” the reporter told Philstar.com.
“I know that if she could only do so and she has no flight to catch, she’s so nice that she would accommodate everyone who would like to interview her.”
Philstar.com has reached out to Soriano for comment, but is yet to hear from the director.
Halatang damage control.
DeleteTrue to his role, CREATIVE Communications talaga. 🤣🤣🤣
True.
DeleteI just hate the fact that he yelled and disrespect the other tv host.
Mema k lng eh no?
Delete5:20 PM Comprehension please. What 8:53 PM meant is how can VH properly promote the Philippines globally if she's unfamiliar with our country and wala pang one week ang stay niya dito sa Pinas?
Delete"According to non-eyewitness claims, director Paul Soriano, who is directing Hudgens’ travel documentary about her Filipino heritage, was seen shouting and causing a commotion" ANDAMING CELLPHONES NAKALABAS PERO NI ISANG VIDEO NITONG SHOUTING AND CAUSING A COMMOTION E WALANG RESIBO?
DeleteGusto nyo tumira dito si V eh Hollywood star yun at my pelikula pa syang gagawin ! Kaloka mga baklang to!
DeleteDamage control
DeleteI don’t believe this “eyewitness”. damage control lang to. becyas per Christine Jacobs’ IG story it really happened and I dont think mag ffabricate sya ng story…
DeletePreggers kasi yun isa jan
Hahahah. Pa notaryo nyo pa. Mga self righteous.
Delete10:28 AM With matching photo op while shaking hands hahahaha
ReplyDeleteYeah because Philstar's sources are much more reliable because they didn't reveal their real names and they were deliberately labeled as "eyewitnesses" 😉
DeleteBut check the owners of PhilStar and you’ll know they will never protect anyone connected to the Marcoses
Delete10:40 AM It's a different story for the person who wrote this article.
Delete5:20 do you understand the power dynamic ng isang company, especially kung ikaw isang hamak na trabahador or low ranking employee lamang.
Delete9:09 Christine Sandejas was there too. So I think totoo ang nangyari.
DeleteAyun naman pala kasi... Priority nga naman sa pag-interview si bida-bida.
ReplyDeleteah so yun pala may exclusive interview
ReplyDeleteWhat a BABY! :P
ReplyDeleteRead the accounts of other sites. You'll know kaninong side PhilStar is on
ReplyDeleteRight? The person who wrote this article was also a non-eyewitness and she didn't even reveal the names of the eyewitnesses that she interviewed.
DeleteMay bias and judgment agad yun PhilStar by labeling accounts as “eyewitness” and “noneyewitness”, meaning, sinungaling daw ang mga “noneyewitnesses”. Hay, nakakawalang-gana ka, PhilStar
DeleteTime is the ultimate truth teller
ReplyDeleteBWHAHAAHAH
Of course that is a biased article. I still believe Noel and other reporters.
ReplyDeletekasi ngaaaa iinterviewhin na ni most powerful kaya naabutan ng cut off yung ibang "useless media" lmao
ReplyDeletehere we go.. iba talaga kapag malakas kapag powerful.
ReplyDeleteVH singing “Dahil Sa ‘Yo”? Wow so Imeldific
ReplyDeleteExactly!! Yuck
DeleteOhh i was thinking of Iñigo's song! Hahaha
DeleteOo nga. As much as I like the song, naging cringey because of Imelda.
Delayed hype these pipols. Hay nako!
ReplyDeleteWhy are these informants anonymous? It undermines their believability.
ReplyDeleteIn journalism po just because hindi nakaprint yung name nung witness or they use pseudonymn in the article doesnt mean the facts were not vetted.
DeleteRight! PhilStar's title should be, "Alleged Eyewitness Account --" 😆
DeleteThe sources are "reporters". It's literally their job to tell the truth. If they can't do this because they're scared of the bashing they are in the wrong profession.
What a joke.
ReplyDeleteI really feel sorry for Vanessa. Yes, theres a huge potential na ginagamit nya ang pinas for the clout. But lets not discredit her din dhil she never nman deny na pinoy sya during her hsm days. She just didnt do the "loud and proud" way of saying shes pinoy, which thats what majority of pinoys wanted dhil nga gustong gusto ng pinoy ang "Pinoy Pride" churvaness. Kaya nga, its too much nman na "idisown" sya. I just hope na may future p or makaangat ulit ang hollywood career ni Vanessa.
ReplyDeletePS. Im a Sharpay stan. I just big HSM tard during my elementary days na kung saan pinalabas ang HSM
Delete1:51 thus she really need to say tlga na pinoy sya sa mga interview nya?? Pinoy nga nman, gad. Eh ung ibang nga, they didnt emphasize ang kanilang lahi pero still they didnt shame it like Michelle Yeoh or Lucy Liu or ni Sandra Oh.
DeleteYes eversince of her interviews she told that she's Filipino.
DeleteWala nang ganap so punta sa pinas dahil common knowledge na ang pinoy, meh you know the rest.
Delete1:09 pm, Vanessa has 5 projects both movies and TV combined. 3 of them are on-going and two of them are pre-production, plus her documentary.
DeleteSome Filipinos are "fond" of accusing some foreign stars with filipino blood of "clout" or tagging them as "users"?
- ( please come down from you pedestal, hindi na tayo nahiya)
For your info,
It is not proven that Filipinos can contribute US box office, because Filipino moviegoers have not felt their presence or have not shown full support in any movies which "featured" or "star" a Filipino actor or Actors/Actress with filipino roots in a movie.
Ibig sabihin na wala pang movie sa Hollywood na pinoy ang bida or may dugong or lahing pinoy or mixed bred, na naging successful box office hit dahil sa full support ng mga pinoy movie goers. "Wala pa po".
Unlike a movie made by chinese or koreans or others-- when it is shown in the US cinemas, they can move and raise the box office --- because of full support from their people. This
means --- they are capable of making a movie a box office, kahit mga kababayan lang nila ang manood.
Kaya very active sila gumawa ng mga international movies.
Please let us be humble.
1:51 contradicting k rin girl. Hndi daw ingudngod and yet gusto mo n mag "proud to be pinoy". So gusto mo lng mag "pinoy pride" and ending mo. Yuck
I don’t think Vanessa is a good choice for this documentary for Tourism ba ito? I’m not sure.
ReplyDeleteYes, she’s more deserving.
DeleteAko din! I so love her because she’s so Pinoy at heart.
DeleteSame sentiments as 234.
DeleteWhy do the press expect food to be served? It’s not a party. It’s work. If they were hungry, they should have ate before going or ate after the event. Unless the invitation says food will be served, don’t assume there will be any.
ReplyDeleteEaten
Delete12:23AM never ka pang naka-attend ng presscon no?
DeleteIt's EATEN. Don't make it appear na palamunin ang press people. They were INVITED to this event. FYI. Food is usually served in press events
DeleteI hope you get EATEN by your grammar.
DeleteIto yung taong kuripot. Ampanget ka bonding.
DeleteSyempre pag nag imbita ka sa venue dapat may food to be served and as a good host dapat kasama sa event organizing na may pagkain.
ReplyDeleteBIG Y.E.S.!!!
DeleteSo pinagkaguluhan ba si Vanessa ng press people? Pero hindi naman sya A-list celebrity diba
ReplyDeleteNon eyewitness vs eyewitness.. alam na..
ReplyDeleteMay one on one kasi si Toni. And knowing Toni gusto niya mauna ayaw niya maghintay.
ReplyDeleteWhatever Philstar. It’s Orbison whose side your on and who you’re trying to cover up for. “Non eyewitness” is key
ReplyDeleteIt’s just sad na lahat may political bias. Lalo na media.
ReplyDeleteThis incident is a "red flag" to somebody like VH who happens to get invited and came over to the PH for a job.
ReplyDeleteThis isn't going to help promote how the Philippines work at the current time.
Paul Soriano canceled all those invited press people to have VH interviewed by his wife on her personal youtube channel. Such a selfish person.
ReplyDeleteDamaged control.
ReplyDeleteI just observed after reading some articles about the incident.
ReplyDeleteTo Tito Boy,
when it comes to asking some "personal" questions in an interview,
In the US,
Some of the actors (ordinary people) who grew up in the US -- they have this "personal space" or "personal boundaries" that we should understand and respect --- even in celebrities.
you don't ask personal questions upfront,
you tell the stars or the interviewee that you are going to ask "some" personal questions before the interview, if they say yes or no"
if there is no time to ask it before hand, then ask permission during the interview, before asking any personal question in a live interview. You don't put them in the spotlight.
I read some newspapers that some questions were getting personal toward Vanessa and she answered,
" This is personal "
when I moved to the US a few years ago, i observed that people have "personal spaces" (among family or relatives) that we should respect or ask permission for.
Manonood lang ako Ng documentary king mula Aparri hanggang Jolo nag libot sya as an Ambasadress.
ReplyDeleteYun EYEWITNESS NA WALANG PANGALAN.. HAHAHAA kuwento nyo sa pagong yan.
ReplyDeleteI'm just baffled. Why cancel the interviews just to accommodate the wife? Pwede naman ischedule in advance. Then again planning and foresight, or any management skills ay wala sa mga power trippers na to.
ReplyDeleteLakas maka-manager ni direk. Iba ka. Hahaha
ReplyDelete
