i agree with hyro. Its a business afterall. You have to make the producers happy at the end of the day, thats why you have to balance na good + profitable dapat ang projects.

My take: Liza & her new mgt. needs a legit PR team. This video has the right intent to explain her move going forward but ignores the very essence of a "business" & "industry" they work in. There's no perfect job workplace & industry, everyone has to put in the work to produce an output which the market may or may not consume. Part of the process includes doing things needed to satisfy the market whether it makes one happy or not. Happiness & freedom in work is a luxury not everyone gets to enjoy.
Again, the message could have been sent more clearly if there's a legit PR team to oversee it & somehow filter what needs to be filtered to avoid hurting people. Mo

It’s a capitalistic business that she heavily profited and benefited from. I don’t think the industry caged her to be something that she’s not. That’s part of the job. When you apply for a job, the bosses are looking for certain qualifications and certifications. You have to meet the criteria. You have to be the actor/ actress that they’re looking for. You need to be attractive to survive the entertainment industry if you want to go for lead roles/ certain roles and the same time have an ample amount of talent and the right attitude to go along with it. I can see that she wants to rebrand herself as this Hope persona.. Her supporters are mostly masa, she should be thankful that the network took a chance with her and gave her lucrative projects and invested in her growth.. The middle and upper class don't really care much about actresses anymore. I hope she finds her niche and let’s see what kind of stories she makes on her vlog.
Liza’s feelings are valid, but so are theirs. They worked with her all these years only to find out now, she didn’t like the concept, writing, etc. they provided for her projects. Anyways, I know she didn’t mean to intentionally hurt anyone, she stressed that she was grateful for all those years, but some things are better left unsaid! Or like mark said, next time she’ll be able to express her thoughts in a way where it will not offend anyone.

TBH i first saw her sa movie ni Bea, dingdong ang quen and she was just an extra there-nothing special, she's also not that good pa in acting medyo so-so lang. It was horribly edited, she sang meh, audio were so muffled, choreo looks lazy and made me think why she and her management agreed to that gig!

ReplyDeleteMy take: Liza & her new mgt. needs a legit PR team. This video has the right intent to explain her move going forward but ignores the very essence of a "business" & "industry" they work in. There's no perfect job workplace & industry, everyone has to put in the work to produce an output which the market may or may not consume. Part of the process includes doing things needed to satisfy the market whether it makes one happy or not. Happiness & freedom in work is a luxury not everyone gets to enjoy.

Malawak pagiisip non Mark and Hyro, yon Mico fantard lang talaga ng abs, makasumbat akala mo sya ang mayari ng company. Isipin dapat nila, yon age na nagstart magtrabaho si Hope under abs. Ilang years din nila ginamit si Liza, kahit malaki ang sahod nya napapagod din yon tao. Atchaka napakabait na bata yan, maayos sya makitungo sa mga tao ng abs. Kaya feel nya na hindi sya makahindi sa certain project dahil malaki ang utang na loob nya sa abs at gusto nya magcontribute.

It’s a capitalistic business that she heavily profited and benefited from. I don’t think the industry caged her to be something that she’s not. That’s part of the job. When you apply for a job, the bosses are looking for certain qualifications and certifications. You have to meet the criteria. You have to be the actor/ actress that they’re looking for. You need to be attractive to survive the entertainment industry if you want to go for lead roles/ certain roles and the same time have an ample amount of talent and the right attitude to go along with it. I can see that she wants to rebrand herself as this Hope persona.. Her supporters are mostly masa, she should be thankful that the network took a chance with her and gave her lucrative projects and invested in her growth.. The middle and upper class don't really care much about actresses anymore. I hope she finds her niche and let’s see what kind of stories she makes on her vlog.
ReplyDeleteLiza’s feelings are valid, but so are theirs. They worked with her all these years only to find out now, she didn’t like the concept, writing, etc. they provided for her projects. Anyways, I know she didn’t mean to intentionally hurt anyone, she stressed that she was grateful for all those years, but some things are better left unsaid! Or like mark said, next time she’ll be able to express her thoughts in a way where it will not offend anyone.

For me yung pag halubilo nyo sa gabriela dati was a no-no she was trying to find something to prove that she is nothing more than beauty pero it backfired on her- should have remained neutral about divisive issues lalo na wala pa xang na prove when it comes to acting. They saw star potential on her and guided her to become one. She knows these people have been in the industry for years na and have invaluable knowledge how to run a show but maybe she thinks she has a better idea so let her be and we will see.

I agree, she was given enough options by ABS. I remember watching a presscon for “Everyday I Love You”. She was asked if she was ready to do projects with other leading men and she answered that she would do what management asked her to. This YouTube blog conveys her message differently in that she sounds ungrateful which I don’t think was the intention. Yet this will have a negative effect on her career and endorsements. Next time, be intentional Liza. Learn. Learn. Learn.

My husband, daughter and our dog even went to La Presa just to see her and Enrique. It’s like she doesn’t have any choice when she started doing those teleseryes. Andun si Enrique, who has a say sa mga projects din and I’m sure he would have asked for her opinion since sila na nung FM days and sa mga sununod pang mga projects. Hindi ko alam ano gusto niya palabasin. Kasi grateful siya pero need niya pang sabihin yun na nakilala siya as Liza Soberano and not Hope Soberano. Nakakadismaya na ewan sa totoo lang. i cried when I watched her video. Sana nagpasalamat nalang siya sa former mgt niya hindi yung may kung ano ano pa siyang sinabi. Andaming nagtatrabaho sa industry who was at the mercy of her choices--which she claimed she never had despite the fact na may resibo na she was in fact offered choices and opportunities to have a say in her career. Ang hindi lang ako agree is yung sinasabihang ingrata si Liza. She was in fact one of the more vocal ones who stood up for abs when they were shut down. Still doesn't excuse her BS about being controlled though. Since ka-generation ko si Liza, I understand where this is coming from. Our generation doesn't understand that labor is intertwined in everything in life--that is, working hard and still having a hard time...may it be because you don't like some aspect of what you are doing, or because the demands are high, etc. etc.

Right? She said what she said and what she felt. She can’t speak her truth? She’s just supposed to please everyone? She gotta live her life. ReplyDeleteTo be honest, of the two, she is the one who has benefited the most from the LT she has become the darling of the media and the people thanks to her beauty and "apparently her gentle and humble image" (lol), I understand the desire to grow, to become more competent, but she does not know how to express herself and appears rude and ungrateful. She has become rich and can now afford to make this video thanks to her projects and publicity contracts. Her image has been significantly damaged. And soon she will see it, but at least now she is "free" and no longer a "puppet" ( according to her)
ReplyDeleteIf anything, maybe this will open their eyes that many of the current loveteams they’re working with today may harbor those same sentiments but cannot express it in fear of losing their jobs….no actor wants to work with ONE PERSON playing the SAME stories over and over again. I remember even DJ had expressed his frustrations of being stuck doing the same thing over and over again. For all we know he and kath could be feeling the same, yet don’t say it cuz they don’t want to upset the fanbase or cause drama in their careers, but once they officially leave the loveteam phase, they might say similar things to what Liza did. Didn’t bea and jlc also say the same when they left SM/ABS. This is a very common feeling amongst their actors and they need to address it and allow them to be open and more independent when it comes to their careers….or else they will lose them.
ReplyDeleteI remember sa peak ng Covid, she guested for a product endorsement and sang a KPOP song by Twice with two back up dancers. They shot them in a green screen. It was horribly edited, she sang meh, audio were so muffled, choreo looks lazy and made me think why she and her management agreed to that gig!
