Yes it does. It shows a lack of preparedness and a is a form of disrespect. Kung ikaw magppresent, kailangan mo aralin babasahin at bibigkasin mo. Plus yung mali di lang once pero paulit-ulit sinabing Kazakhstan instead of Kyrgyzstan.
1:35 It DOES matter. It matters. It does. And it's funny na mas napansin mo pa yung matter kesa yung DOES which I wrote in bold letters para sana ma-emphasize yung point ko.
I mean… it’s miss Universe, the least you can do is pronounce the country’s name CORRECTLY. The announcer has ONE job and that is to articulate & correctly pronounce the candidates’ names and countries they’re representing!
Actually even Turkey. The candidate already pronounced it, and it was even in her sash. Turkey was known as Türkiye since last year. Pero yung host maka-ilang ulit niya pang sinabing Turkey. Andami din mispronounced words. Tumatak saken yung pharmaceutical. It should be fahr-muh-SOO-ti-kuhl but the host said KYU-ti-kuhl just like when you say cuticle. Pharmacuticle! Haha
I get that English is not her first language pero sana nag effort may google naman it would’ve helped her in pronunciation. Demi-leigh and Catriona for me ang magaling mag host.
Dapat may rehearsal even for the hosts & presenters. They could have also researched or asked the candidates themselves how their country and their own name is pronounced.
I watched the video again. She said Kazakhstan! My goodness. And may isa pang glaring mistake. Yung background details na dapat sana for another candidate, sinabi niya sa naunang candidate. So ang ending, same na info for two candidates!
ReplyDeletehindi kasi magaling yung host nila. my gosh
ReplyDeleteTop photo - kamukha niya si mai mai coquangco
ReplyDeleteDoes it matter? Lahat nalang issue

DeleteOh my gad girl, I can't believe you even asked! YES. It DOES matters. That's your country's name for crying out loud!
DeleteIt is a BIG DEAL. It's your country. Parang maling pagkanta ng national anthem, ganern. Bayang magiliw, instead of Lupang Hinirang.
DeleteMispronouncing once is ok, pero yung sinabi na nung candidate sa mic yung bansa nya, hindi mo pa ginaya nalang how she said it.

DeleteSusko I pronounce Kaya name mo ng iba na nakakatawa tignan ko kung hindi maging isyu sayo yan at Oo sa pilipinas lahat issue deal with it ganon lol
Deletedapat binabasa muna bago o tinitignan ng mabuti bago sabihin.
ReplyDeleteMiss Universe India mispronounced a lot of words during the prelims. Not cos of the accent, mali talaga pag basa
ReplyDeleteWhat did she say? I can't find the video on YT.
DeleteProfessional presenter talaga dapat ang kinuha nila, not all beauty Queens are good host bat pini pilit nila
ReplyDeleteKapag prelims kasi reigning Queen talaga ang host.

ReplyDeleteWala kasing ginawa ni Harnaaz. Super cringe kaya sya. Ilang beses nagkamali. Nakakahiya. Miss Universe pa naman.
ReplyDeleteYikes, I thought magaling si Harnaaz. Pang awra awra lang pala si girl.
DeleteA good briefing and familiarization of country names, including candidates' names would have been done for the presenters.
ReplyDeleteHarnaaz also mispronounced Trinidad & TOBAGO.
ReplyDeleteThis should be a lesson. Next time make sure to proofread before hosting.
ReplyDeleteI watched the video again. She said Kazakhstan! My goodness. And may isa pang glaring mistake. Yung background details na dapat sana for another candidate, sinabi niya sa naunang candidate. So ang ending, same na info for two candidates!
ReplyDeleteShe only had one job!
