ReplyDeleteMy opinion: the trailer overall is meh. With or without Heart the movie seems lacking everytjing. The story is weak at mukhang maraming clichè na scenes. Everyone’s acting in the trailer is cringey. I’m happy for Heart na nakasama sya dito but I’m not a fan of her as an actress. Magaling sya pumorma as a fashionista ganyarn but her acting hindi talaga. No improvement. This trailer is not impressive enough to convince me to watch the whole movie.

Delete12:20 AM - Agree, I find her more effective as a host (the scripted kind, she can't do improv) and endorser. Sa acting, I always thought her face helped her coast to lead roles but that's it.

ReplyDeleteOk so it’s not gonna win an Oscar but representation matters y’all. Once all brown people are mainstream, they can start getting more funding for better films. But for a Netflix or prime video romcom, this isn’t bad at all. Have you seen half of what’s on those streaming apps, they’re crap. This one showcases some of our culture and traditions. Is it gonna get them to Cannes FF. Prolly not lol. But at least the story isn’t about 3rd, 4th, 5th party. And heart is cute. At least she’s featured.

ReplyDeleteThe movie itself is a pariah, Asian American cliches mixed with American rom-com formula resulting in a nauseatingly predictable and forgettable movie. While it's good Asians are getting more representation in Hollywood, this is an undesirable representation - it depicts Asians as being as vapid and vacuous as the Kardashians.
Dito ka na lang sa pinas mag movie buti pa!
