Rogue Banker and . . . Rogue Client?
So last week, we told you about a rogue banker who fled to Japan after allegedly scamming clients of a large bank and making off with as much as P100 million in “placements”—placements that were apparently entrusted to her by the clients, but went straight to her personal account instead of going to a bank-approved investment.
Well, Biz Buzz learned that the bank in question has been doing a lot of sleuthing of its own ever since this case came to light recently, and the findings of its crack team of investigators are proving to be a real eye opener.
For one, they looked into the background of one complainant—a person allegedly scammed of her hard-earned money—and found a lot of question marks as to how she had that kind of money in her possession to invest.
The probers think her personal background and circumstances simply do not support her contention that she had tens of millions of pesos to invest.
While other victims really did lose their money to the scam, the investigators are now wondering if this one complainant is being completely forthright about the supposed missing investments. Was she a conduit for someone else? Was she complicit in the scam? That’s what they trying to find out.
Abangan!
Why question the complainant, that should be another matter. Ang banko ang pinaguusapan dito.
ReplyDeleteKasi baka kasabwat din sya. And since nawawala na yung banker, baka makahelp para mahanap.
DeleteKorek
DeleteAnong why e suspicious nga ung source of funds and could be the accomplice- d nagets?
Delete5:34 because banks have to comply with anti money laundering laws and observe proper KYC policies
DeleteTrue 5:34. 8:51, Baka?

ReplyDeleteWow.. just wow.. this is sooo wrong on soo many levels. I hope they just reveal the name of this malpracticing victim-blaming bank.
ReplyDeleteClassmate, alam mo na yan. Read the bi again
Deleteoh nasa BI nga
DeleteOh I get it. That complainant could be an accomplice. And she/he could be of help to solving the case. Sorry if I spoke too early.
ReplyDeletemukha nga. playing victim siya para hindi mahalata
DeleteThe word is "could be". What if it's legit and she/he speaks the truth? Someone is being penalized due to suspicion and hearsay. How about maybe the bank found someone to divert attention from them. Remember, banks act as fiduciaries for their depositors and are there for their depositors' interest. I.e. They are liable if their clients incurred some loses and could pay for any damages. That's why banks are also called trustees. They are then responsible for their employees' actions.
Delete.
7:18 investigating a suspicious complainant is NOT wrong
DeleteWalang clue kung anong bangko ito? Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThere's a clue. Read again
Deletekung matagal ka ng reader sa FP, you'll get it.
DeleteCould be money laundering, given that the complainant-investor's background is suspicious. But the bank has to report it at the outset eh if that's the case. After the fact na yung investigation nila ngayon. Oh well, may loopholes pa rin talaga ang anti-money laundering law natin. Also, ano kayang bank ito?
ReplyDeleteAnong bank to?
ReplyDeletemga sis, may pa clue naman lagi si fp, di nya tayo pinapahirapan. titigan at basahin mo ulit from the top. choz!
DeleteSan yng clue baks?
DeleteNahuli na ba yung last year na taga-bank din na nagtakbo naman ng pera ng politician from San Juan? Na ayaw din lumantad ng victim dahil maku-question din sya kasi nasa 200M ata ung nawala.
ReplyDeleteAs forthe bank, what bank has the latest incident of Fraud transaction? That should already be a clue
ReplyDeleteTumpak! Nasa BI ang clue. They really need to work on their system.
DeleteTwo steps back na naman ang banking institutions ng Pilipins, kawawa talaga tayong lahat dito. Forever 3rd baka 4th world na.
ReplyDeletethis is true
DeleteMalamang kasabwat bank manager(s)
