    1. Agree. Time to step up and make movies with different genres.

Stop with the hugot, pabebe and loveteam formulas. Below par acting ng mga artistas, then sila pa earning millions.

    2. Totally agree direk!
It's refreshing and rewarding to think out-of-the-box and challenge the status quo.

    1. Can you blame us? Most of the films and series produce here are garbage. I watched and support films and shows produce here that are worth my time and money. I even recommend it to my friends and family but let's be honest most of the hyped films here are totally nonsense and garbage. They can't even improve the quality, the effects for fantasy or horror films or series.

    3. Corny films with decades old punch lines, teeny bopping love teams, kabitang walang hanggan, at unli-bala action flicks na laging some 1970's car ang pinapasabog. What did I miss?

Konti lang ang de kalidad na movies like Heneral Luna, Goyo, Mano Po, The Road.

    4. Anti agad?

  5. Ui Erik Matti first time ko magsubscribe sa HBO for the sake of OTJ. still waiting for the other 3 episodes

  6. Ang pinoy crowd ever since ang gusto nila laging pabebe films or yung corny na comedy movies or sexy films.

    1. OTJ is not a game changer because it won an award, it is a game changer because another movie platform aside from the local cinemas and Netflix picked it up and that platform, HBO Asia “valued OTJ more than they thought they deserved”. They did not right away sell to the old platforms that would buy their work for “dirt cheap”. They had the guts to wait for the right partner. In the end, it was a wise move. OTJ showed that the phil. movie producers need not be at the mercy of mall cinemas and even netflix. There are other players out there who would pay for good quality entertainment and have wide audience reach. If movie producers in the Phil. play their cards right like OTJ, they can be ambitious enough to explore other genres, create quality films and revolutionize the Phil. movie industry. Enough of non-sensical romance dramas that bank solely on the fanbase of the lead actors even if they severely lack talent. Koreans do that genre way better anyway, even Filipinos prefer korean movies/series. Hopefully, the Phil movie industry comes out of the pandemic better than ever.

End it while it is still popular para tumatak ang storya. Gawing mga 15 episodes then iba na naman.

  12. noon pa man, ang mga de kalidad ng pelikula ay di masyadong tinatangkilik ng masa. pag may film festival, ang laging topgrossers ay yung mindless fun. the public votes with its wallet.

congrats, direk, for continuing to make the movies you want to make.

    1. So? He is entitled to his own opinion, and he does have some unpopular ones. But we can't deny na maganda ang OTJ series nya. Can't say the same for his other works.

    2. He has every right. He is fighting for the survival of the local industry at isa pa, ang corny din naman kasi karamihan ng kdrama.

  16. A few of his movies were really good but he’s not consistent. Dalawa lang yung quality films niya by far- OTJ and Honor Thy Father.

    ReplyDelete
  17. In fairness may bragging rights siya with his recent films unlike other directors na super yabang pero jeje and baduy forever at di na nagbago.
