Dati baliw na baliw ako sa Eraserheads pero now na-outgrow ko ang music nila. Batang 90's ako ah. Born 1988. Same as Francis M. I consider them as icons pero naka move on na ako sa music nila. Linkin Park, Stone Temple Pilots, Velvet Revolver, Chris Cornell music lang ang mga matandang banda na pinapakinggan ko lately. Occasionally nakikinig ako ng 90's and 2000's music pero madalas sa radyo na lang. Kapag tinutugtog ng DJ ang kanta, pinapakinggan ko. Pero yung kusa ko iki-click sa YouTube ang mga kanta, hindi na ganun. Mga local bands na friends ko mostly ang pinapakinggan ko nowadays. Basta may growls and Halloween themed masaya ako.

Why is it an issue for the other fans? Banda po sila, mga kanta ang puhunan. It's not their fault if you're invested with the people behind the band, and not their songs. Hindi naman sila love team na talagang pressured magkaroon ng close relationship dahil kilig ang output. I grew up listening to their music (to the point na pumupunta pa ako sa gigs ng Pupil at Sandwich nung nag disband na ang Eheads), I'm just thankful that they created the songs that became a part of my teenage years. Napaka-unfair naman to expect na dapat friends sila, when nobody's forcing you to be friends with your colleagues. If you were given the chance to pursue your dreams of becoming a musician and be successful at it basta ba kasama mo yung mga kabanda mo kahit di kayo close, wouldn't you do the same thing?

Batang 90s here who grew up with their music, for me ok lang naman na di sila friends or baka di lang ako ganon ka hardcore na fan na nahurt sa statement? Pero medyo surprising lang na even after all those years and time spent creating music di sila naging friends. Anyway, naalala ko noon sa last reunion nila dito sa Pinas yung "Final Set" people were chanting "Group hug!" Nakakatawa lang medyo awkward kasi knowing their issues before. Pero nag side hug/akbay naman silang 4 sabay bow after the last song.

I disagree about about never being friends kasi Eheads’ days madalas din naman sila nag ha-hangout sa mga hotel rooms (it’s always ely and marcus then buddy and raims as roommates if hindi sila tig-isang room) playing video games and what not (you know rock star lifestyle). Hindi sila close and off-gigs they have their own set of friends. But to say they were NEVER friends, sobra naman yata yun. Nasobrahan ang pagka fan of john lennon pati personality ni John ginagaya. Feeling ko si Ely lang ang nakakaramdam na hindi sila friends kasi si Raims at Buddy lagi silang magkasama after Eheads naging bandmates pa din sila at nag hahang out sila palagi outside gigs.

DeleteDati baliw na baliw ako sa Eraserheads pero now na-outgrow ko ang music nila. Batang 90's ako ah. Born 1988. Same as Francis M. I consider them as icons pero naka move on na ako sa music nila. Linkin Park, Stone Temple Pilots, Velvet Revolver, Chris Cornell music lang ang mga matandang banda na pinapakinggan ko lately. Occasionally nakikinig ako ng 90's and 2000's music pero madalas sa radyo na lang. Kapag tinutugtog ng DJ ang kanta, pinapakinggan ko. Pero yung kusa ko iki-click sa YouTube ang mga kanta, hindi na ganun. Mga local bands na friends ko mostly ang pinapakinggan ko nowadays. Basta may growls and Halloween themed masaya ako.

ReplyDeleteWhy is it an issue for the other fans? Banda po sila, mga kanta ang puhunan. It's not their fault if you're invested with the people behind the band, and not their songs. Hindi naman sila love team na talagang pressured magkaroon ng close relationship dahil kilig ang output. I grew up listening to their music (to the point na pumupunta pa ako sa gigs ng Pupil at Sandwich nung nag disband na ang Eheads), I'm just thankful that they created the songs that became a part of my teenage years. Napaka-unfair naman to expect na dapat friends sila, when nobody's forcing you to be friends with your colleagues. If you were given the chance to pursue your dreams of becoming a musician and be successful at it basta ba kasama mo yung mga kabanda mo kahit di kayo close, wouldn't you do the same thing?

DeleteBatang 90s here who grew up with their music, for me ok lang naman na di sila friends or baka di lang ako ganon ka hardcore na fan na nahurt sa statement? Pero medyo surprising lang na even after all those years and time spent creating music di sila naging friends. Anyway, naalala ko noon sa last reunion nila dito sa Pinas yung "Final Set" people were chanting "Group hug!" Nakakatawa lang medyo awkward kasi knowing their issues before. Hindi sila close and off-gigs they have their own set of friends. But to say they were NEVER friends, sobra naman yata yun. Nasobrahan ang pagka fan of john lennon pati personality ni John ginagaya. It his prerogative to define what he felt during that time with the group. it's just people often have their own conception of what we wanted the group to be like one solid group of friends, united and created good music.
Why is it hard for us to accept what's Ely's side of the story?
