Ok naman ha, she wasn’t that bad at all. Ano bang ine expect mo, mala Oprah or Hillary Clinton levels? Paka hirap naman ma please ng mga nega people na to.
1:13 not bad if you’re use to listening Filipinos speaking in hard English accent, but if you live in countries where English is the main language in a daily conversation , trust me Rubiyas accent is like digging a hole to your π
Nothing wrong kung memorized but she could have delivered it better to sound as if hindi siya memorized. Or she could have used a prompter na naka attach sa phone/camera. There were some awkward pauses and mistakes sa delivery. Iba-iba ang background ng mga contestants which suggests that the contestants made their videos on their own. It would have been better if she repeated her presentation. It doesn’t look like a finished product for me.
1:50, there is nothing wrong with Rabiya's accent. Every country has accent. What's wrong is people looking down on others because of having native accent. A lot of people find Western Accent (French, British, American or Russian) sexy and dislike Asian or African accent. You should watch Project Nightfall to get an insight on how to be more accepting of others' accent.
Nakakaloka! Kasimpleng bagay ha pero napaka unpatriotic na. Lol
She lacks the depth in character and she needs to be more sincere in delivering her message across. Why did they release this video? She sounded rehearsed and not genuine. Parang napaka rushed ng pagkakagawa.
8:10 - THAILAND HAS BEEN SENDING GOOD ENGLISH SPEAKERS THE LAST 3 YEARS (EXCEPT IYONG BATCHMATE NI CATRIONA) BUT THEY LACK DEPTH. KAPAG NANDUN SA TOP 5 Q&A, HINDI SILA NAKAKAPAG-ISIP NG MALALIM. WATCH MO SA YOUTUBE.
Actually, she is full on confidence magsalita.. pero yung mga choice ng words nya are generic..
This is the 2nd time na di tayo pasok sa semis and I understand that. 1st was Gazini, sash factor lang kaya nakasama sa semis. Same lang sila ng style. Patriotism eme. To the point na ang pangit ng evening gown ni Gazini nung prelim. Nasobrahan sa details.
Hahaha excuse me? Nasa labas ako ng bansa at working as Manager with europeans, americans, nigerians, indians and other asians aside pinoy. At walang problema sa pananalita ni Rabiya. Wag lahatin iha.lolss
She speaks with an accent and there's nothing wrong with that. Yun nga lang she tends to stammer or stumble in her train of thought.
1:26 True.
Parang awkward pakinggan yung pagsasalita nya. Hindi ako aasa dito pero I still hope she gets the
No offense to her pero hindi mukang Pilipina si Rabiya. Sana next time, pure Pinay na kunin.
3:16 True. Ang pangit na inuuna niya lagi ang ‘i came from/I really had humble beginnings’. Pwede naman niya i inject yun after niya sabihin na importante ang education para sa kanya because it is what transformed her life blah blah. Yun tipong ‘awww laking hirap sya o’
She's not eloquent even before she won MUP , not like Cat or Pia, not as confident as the two past miss U when they delivered their own intro... Good luck to you girl .
Ikr.
Kahit nga ms u from way before eh may translator. Pinoy sya... ganyan tayo mostly mag english. At least sya may beauty.. kayo nga?? Tingin2 din sa salamin lolzz
She needs more training..it's her first time to compete in a beaucon in the phils. unlike Pia and Cat mga beterana na sa beaucon kaya hasang hasa na..kawawa naman si Rabiya i think she's really trying her best.. Very neophyte..
I think this is impromptu. She wouldn’t stammer if she was reading it or she memorized it. The pause, and the intonations indicate that it’s impromptu based on my observation.
Sobrang gusto ko manalo ulet tayo, pero ung intro palang na filmed in a very controlled setting at pwedeng ulitin pag hindi perfect, π na. Pano nalang sa international beauty pageant stage. π± #truthlang
sino ba mga trainers/advisers/handlers nya? im sure pinanood nila to after. wala man lang nagsabi na tanggalin or ulitin natin yung part na nagkamali ka? what a huge failure sa part ng team nya.
Its not about the accent alone but how she delivers it.
She was trying so hard to pronounce the words properly but it comes across as "pilit". Matalino naman sya pero just like any normal filipino na hindi laking ibang bansa, pag nag english ganun talaga ang tunog, gaya nung sa kanya. But it doesnt mean she cant express herself in english. Sana nagpractice sya, kasi ang haba ng oras nya before the pageant. Napag-aaralan naman yan. Also para nababagalan ako sa salita nya, siguro kasi takot sya magkamali at pinipilit nyang ma i pronounce ng maayos yung words.
Nakakaloka... mga mapanlait! Maano kung Pinoy accent...eh taga Pinas sya? Don't compare apples to oranges. Muning was raised abroad diba? Saka hasa sa public speaking. Not sure about Rabiya though.
Well, wish you all the best. Laban parin tayo. Ngayon iba ang gurl, overall they really worked on her, iba ang datingan e. Anyway, Go parin. Cross fingers for our Miss U Rabiya.
Am curious. What’s wrong with Filipino English accents? Am working with a very diverse professionals and they like our accent a lot.
Miss Vietnam 2018 is a good example. She fought a good fight despite the language barrier. A representative has to show the organization who she really is rather than fitting herself into the so-called miss universe mold. Since she is wearing a “Philippines” sash, let us show our support by giving her our vote to secure her a spot in the top 21.
pretty but di pala sya eloquent no?
ReplyDeletecope up pa sabi nya. Average Filipino -English, I have to day
Still wish for the best for Rabiya, though....
DeleteDi nga. Memorized ang sentences niya.
DeleteOk naman ha, she wasn’t that bad at all. Ano bang ine expect mo, mala Oprah or Hillary Clinton levels?

Her message is clear, she enunciated her words clearly and that's all we can ask for.
Delete1:06 mikropono ni Clint?
DeleteAnon 1:50 yabang mo! Sakit sa mata and brains sinulat mo lol

Delete1.01 there's no "cope up" in her sentence. Where did you hear that?
DeleteShe is eloquent but she needs to polish her diction.
ReplyDeleteYou mean with an American accent? Ang daming nananalo who don't even speak English
DeleteShe lacks the depth in character and she needs to be more sincere in delivering her message across. Why did they release this video? She sounded rehearsed and not genuine. Parang napaka rushed ng pagkakagawa.
DeleteWhat 9:39 said. It is not so much the diction or having a neutral accent. It comes off as rehearsed nga and hindi genuine
DeleteWaley. Australia, Japan and Colombia bet ko.
Magaling magsalita.

Delete8:10 anong magaling? Have you seen ger Q&A in Miss Universe Thailand? Same sila ni Rabiya walang substance yung answer
Deletemagagaling sa interview portion aside from USA, sila Miss Australia and watch out for Miss Mexico.
DeleteSorry pero walang dating yung introduction. Sana inayos munang mabuti before it's submitted.

DeleteHopefully if she reaches the top 5 and so on, makasagot sya ng walang stammer.
ReplyDeleteShe won’t reach Top 5, maybe top 21.
It’s not what you say but how you say it.
ReplyDeleteShe needs to improve her delivery..she should make it sound spontaneous and speak w/ strong convictions..parang masyadong malumanay?
ReplyDeleteBuckle pa more
ReplyDeleteBelt pa more kaloka
DeleteWalang umph.. The way she speaks ang boring. Pero ganda nya dun sa beach ah.
ReplyDeleteTrue.
ReplyDeleteExactly! Pinoys who never traveled abroad
Deletekorek.

Anyways, good luck pa rin girl. Suportahan kita sa boto pero after non, you're on your own.

ReplyDeleteHay pang pandemic nga sya.. kulang... kulang na kulang.
ReplyDeleteI niss Muning
DeleteIs it just me or did she pronounce lead as LAD? sakit sa teynga yung accent nya, pabebe
ReplyDeleteShe said “Land a great job” not lead
DeleteLand ata yung baks, “able to land a great job” ang heavy ng filipino accent nya muntik ko na din hindi maintindihan haha
Delete10:23 what's wrong with her Filipino accent? She's a Filipina. I want you and Rabiya do a debate and show us what accent is right.
