    2. Humble. ❤️ We really should stop poverty porn. Gamit na gamit kasi ng iba... Hanggang Universe 🙄

    3. Even documentaries and news, we are using poverty porn. I just dont get it why kinall out siya for this. People are too sensitive already. Konting kibot, cancel/call out kaagad

      Delete
    4. but poverty is a reality for a number of pinoys. mas maganda ba na hindi talakayin sa sining?

  2. there. ganyan dapat sumagot kapag sa tingin mo the criticism comes from a good place. i myself didn't agree with the image she posted, but she came out of it with pure class. walang tono ng indignation or pagiging defensive. other celebrities should pay attention to how she handled this.

    1. Agree! She was defensive nung una im glad she acknowledge the fsct the photo was off

      Delete
    2. @10:15 sino ba hindi magiging defensive kapag todo attack sayo tapos ang mga sinasabi pa super below the belt pa na parang sobra nilang alam ang pagkatao mo? she had every right no. she didn't even need to apologise. cancel culture is disgusting, tapos yung mga pawoke pa na may natutunan lang na bagong words or ways of thinking na super alternative kala mo naman ang dami nang alam at yung mga ibang taong hindi sumasangayon sa kanila ay enemies na agad. hayy....

  3. She didnt need to apologize

  7. Now this is an apology. She explained her thoughts behind the action really well. She took full accountability. Celebs, take notes from this girl on how to handle criticism.

  8. Grabe daming sensitive konting kibot issue.

  9. siguro message nya yan sa mga ka class nyang blind sa paghihirap ng everyday pinoy. hindi naman kelangan ng mga mahihirap mamulat na mahirap tlga buhay pinoy hahaha . solenn must have been too tired of seeing sosyal people not give a damn about the real pinoy life situation. kaya nya yan nagawa.

  10. I didn't even agree with the people who saw her deleted post negatively pero I felt her sincere apology. She's such a classy lady.

    1. It was nice of her to apologize, but there's no need for it. ano ba issue dun sa painting nya? I don't get it. She just painted what we see in our daily lives. May nakita din akong mas malala pa jan sa pininta nya. Sabagay, truth hurts.

    2. 8:35 baks, it's not about her painting of poverty but how she marketed o promoted her expensive art and rags with the slums as her background. It's ironic that she wants to highlight poverty but she posed there with her expensive products. Now, do you see the disconnect?

      Delete
    3. 1:28 baks, need pa ba pahabain? 5:00 didnt mention about the painting but the post. Solenn also apologized sincerely. Nuff said!

      Delete
    4. Well it definitely got people talking. I thought the marketing photo was satire.

  12. She truly is a classy lady. I appreciate her more because of this. She's beautiful, inside and out.

I hope Solenn conducts art workshops for unprivileged kids if she has the time. Some artists in Cebu do that during summer time.

    ReplyDelete

    1. I agree sa art workshop na yan. Mas makabuluhan kung ganun. I think kung yung background nya is like edsa or in divisoria or maybe like a junk shop, mas walang issue dahil mas neutral yung mga lugar na yun. Ang labas kasi.. look im here in the slums pero i have this little oasis since im rich and special. Nakaupo pa sya sa parang throne

      Delete
    2. oh i see.thanks naliwanagan na ako dahil sa little oasis. okay i get it now.

i felt na pure naman intentions ni solenn kc nga parang gusto daw nya ipakita realidad and i think gusto nya rin makatulong sa mahirap by showing it to other people.

now i get it thank you na enlighten po ako.

    1. 6:56 girl, the reason why she apologizing is due to you pawokes peeps. Kahit hndi nman kelangan, she still apologize as this sh*t wokes people forcing her.

Hndi nya ginagatasan ang issue through apologizing.

Perfect mo siguro.

  15. I bet those people who misinterpreted her art are actually the ones who look down on poor people. Masabing concerned lang sa mahihirap but don’t help or contribute at all, unlike Solenn. Pa-woke masyado mga tao. It’s good to be aware of social injustice pero yung iba, pang-bubully na sa kapwa ginagawa. Poor Solenn

  16. Legit na “may class” kahit di alta! Pak!

Anyway nice of her to apologize..mahirap na maging nega ang image at baka mawala pa endorsement.

    2. People like you are the ones imposing your unhealthy classist views on other people. Who gave you the moral high ground? That is really the problem here—people project how they view class and assume that others thing this way. When I saw the photo, I just saw an ordinary street in Manila. One that is fairly representative of much of Manila. She has a right to photograph her painting there as anybody else. She should not be penalized because she was born into a wealthier family. If you are going to say it is wrong to take a photo like this, then that standard should apply equally. The fact that you don’t is symptomatic of the larger problem of social stratification in the Philippines.

    3. @9:42pm well said! It's as if there is a gatekeeper system where before you're able to do anything, you must first declare your privilege and suffer sufferings the mob deem acceptable before you can have an opinion, or do anything.

Rich people get so much flak for being rich, and are told that they are out of touch with reality. Then when they involve themselves in helping the community, they're clout chasers, and deemed as not being enough because they should be giving their power to the poor to help themselves. They aren't allowed to do or say anything without the approval of these classists...

Also, why do we never shame the poor then for having children day by day, sometimes with different fathers and mothers - those who actually create the suffering that they themselves create? Why should the rich be silenced merely for making better decisions? You don't hear the middle class being told to shut up, and they are sometimes worse than the very very rich - sometimes sila pa nga ang elitista.

      Delete
    4. 9:42 im just stating what goes on in the minds of those who reacted negatively. I personally do not have that unhealthy classist point of view but i am aware of reality..that is how people here think or view things

  24. Hay naawa ako. She doesn't need to say sorry. The girl just wanted to paint. She has such a good heart. Sobrang genuine nya talaga.

    1. The fact that you didn't see what' wrong makes you tone deaf to the real issues. A photo of her posing on a backdrop of poverty while sitting on her expensive chair and rag. Did she even need to pose to highlight her painting?

      Delete

      Delete
    3. The fact that you (1:31AM) failed to look for the middle ground makes you 'tone deaf' about the reality. We react and make decisions based on our "normative structures" as individuals. Not everyone has the means to apprehend things the way you do.

Etong mga privilege rich kids halfies claiming they love their country pero di makapagsalita ng straight tagalog, their kids not speaking tagalog and then host western celebrations in Philippines like Thanksgiving ay mapapaisip ka talaga na di genuine yung claim nilang yun at may hidden agenda. Afterall, they earn money here and we ordinary Pinoys buy their gimmicks.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Open your eyes dear, pano naging squatter yun eh it looks like everyday na madadaanan mo. It's offensive kasi may negative connotation pag hindi well off ang nakikita sa tv. Pinoys hate being told the reality of life.

Also what's wrong with paying respect to your heritage? You want people to be more Pinoy but also want them to erase everything else that they are. Pero mag mga Amerikano or mga iba pang puti na may pusong pinoy okay lang na ierase nila yung sarili nilang pinangalingan para lang they can be approved as being fully pinoy. It doesn't make sense.

      Delete
Atleast they are exploring the culture. At ano naman masama na mag celebrate nang foreign celebrations esp. kung as per naman sa culture ng parents nila/country where they grew up.

      Delete
    3. Agree ako. Kaya naman sila andito is bec here they are "somebody". Tinitingala sila ng tao at dito may nauuto sila. Pero for sure deep inside, they prefer to live abroad.

      Delete
    4. Ok lang ako na subject nya for her paintings is yung daily life. Pero yung pa background ng squatter in that photoshoot, actually im ok with it pero gets ko kung bakit mejo too much for others. sana lang napag isipan mabuti dahil i popost pa naman nya for everyone to see. I think marami pang ibang common public place na would still create that contrast she wants pero walang bahid ng rich vs poor.

      Delete
  27. I didn't see anything wrong with her post. This cancel culture is too much. This is our reality in the Philippines - POVERTY, and the GLARING CONTRAST between the rich and the poor. Sad sad sad.

    1. True. Its still a very TRIANGULAR society, sadly majority are still poor. As long as people remain dumb in their choices for our leaders, it will never ever change! Its easier to control and manipulate poor and poorly educated people!

    2. I ddid not see anything wrong with her post either. Pero mabait lang talaga si Solenn and I truly admire her humility.

    3. True, yung paintings nya kasi REALITY.

  30. You are a true artist Solenn. Talented, sensitive, gutsy, and yet grounded. It is so easy to forgive you (although, I honestly believe nothing to forgive) just because you are quick to analyze what was the real issue. Bravo Solenn. And I became an instant fan of your work and you as an artist and individual.

Masyadong use na use ang freedom of speech. Anyway, Solenn is one classy lady. Her statement will hopefully shut up all Pa-wokes incorporated

  32. So polite and respectful this girl, we like her!

  33. Truth hurts. Nothing in the painting depicted anything else but everyday Filipinos. What are thise critics thinking? They want Filipinos in Rolexes and fancy cars? That’s wishful thinking.

  34. wow! humanity and lending a voice...another one of the self-appointed ambassadors of humanity, and the voice of the voiceless. haaay! sobrang credible.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Daming hanash ng iba, I dont see anything wrong w/ the set up. Art is art just because it was set up on the slum doesnt mean na shes exploiting poverty. Parang double standard naman pag mahirap mag set up sa Sosyal na area OK lng but pag mayaman bawal na. The location complemented her paintings. People are so sensitive this days. Parang nililimit nila yung ideas ng iba. Wala namang tinatapakan or nilapastangan si Solenn bakit kailangan pa e callout. Art should have no limit, its an expression.
