Nakaka disappoint that Solenn did that.

    1. Because the message of her series is about not turning a blind eye on the reality. So gets?

    2. Unfortunately not many people get it. Not many can see past what’s in front of them. Exactly what solenn is trying to get at ..

Poverty porn agad. Minsan ang mga tao mema na lang talaga just to prove na woke sila. In everything May opinion Kahit minsan misplaced naman

      Delete
    4. 1.41 agree and I think maybe the photo was supposed to be satirical. Sometimes art is uncomfortable and it shows reality. In this case it’s the huge class divide in the philippines that you’ll see in this promo pic.

  4. Napaka classy talaga ni Solenn even on her response. My ultimate IT Girl Crush.

    5. She is classy. not trashy at all. very talented and her antics with her husband are so funny...marami lang talagang makitid ang mga utak at mapag-malinis...

That entire photo is a work of art. It suggest that we shouldn’t turn a blind eye on poverty and also to give hope in the midst of crisis.

    2. Solenn is an artist with deep thoughts and wisdom. Sad how people here even with her articulate explanation is still pushing that this is poverty porn. her decision to do this it’s actually a selfless act I’m sure she knew she would he be bashed but hey at least napansin nyo ang reality ng poverty Sa Philippines. What would have been the right forum and venue to showcase the poverty ? What do normal people like like commenters here on fp do for them. I know for a fact many years ago solenn spent time with true Manila group i DONT think it was in the press .. google nyo Na Rin Lang kung Ano Yung true manila so you can see how solenn knows how to make a contribution to people less fortunate than her then ask yourself if you have done the same

Kaloka! in just one pic nakapag judge na agd. Anong poverty sinasabi nitong mga to? so poverty na yang ganyang lugar sa inyo? Tsk tsk. who judges who?

      Delete
    2. Yes it’s poverty, you’re not aware?

      Delete
    3. 12:56 AM How would you know na squatter sila? dahil sa hindi maganda ang pagkakayari ng bahay nila? Do u even know the meaning of squatter? What if may titulo sila sa lupa pero pangit ung bahay nila (based sa mataas mong taste) would you call them squatter kahit may titulo?
Judging without knowing anything. I'm sad for you.

      Delete
    4. 12:57 AM poverty because? of the house? You are not aware?

      Delete
    5. saang kweba ka ba 12:44

      Delete
    6. It's not the first time she used poverty as her subject. She was called out before but keeps repeating and making poverty porn art.

      Delete
    7. 12:56 Hinanapan mo ba sila ng titulo tapos wala sayo nabigay kaya nasabi mong squatters sila jan?

      Delete

      Delete
    9. 159, ano ba ang akala ninyo sa art? Na ang sinasalamin lang nito ay the true the good and the beautiful? Lol!

      Delete

      Delete
  9. I don't see any problem with the picture at all. I like it. I am sure there is a story here na kung hindi tayo maging bulag, pipi at bingi or maging masyadong judgmental makikita natin. Let's check out her exhibit para mas maliwanagan tayo.. huwag iyong puro kuda...

    1. Kasama kasi sa design process pati presentation. Bilang aligned naman yung theme sa shoot na ito, according to her, then wala akong nakikitamg masama. Tatlong taon nya pinaghirapan yung series na yan and it’s unfair to invalidate it lalo na if wala ka naman alam sa art

      Delete
    2. Wala akong nakikitang problema dito. She has always loved painting about realities of living in the Philippines. Ang gaganda at meaningful ng paintings nya. Choice nyo rin yun kung anong angle nyo yan titingnan; but for me, it's an eye-opener rather than poverty porn. And yes, i'm an artist, too.

      Delete
  12. I like solenn and her arts, but this is indeed done in a bad taste. Poverty porn indeed. I would check out your art exhibit without this.

    ReplyDelete

    1. It's not poverty porn when these are exatly the things you see in real life.

      Delete
  13. Well kahit anong gawin mo open to interpretation ang art.

    ReplyDelete
  14. What you get from that photo parallels one of the messages you get from the movie Parasite. Exploitation of the poor. I'm sure that's not Solenn's intention, pero sana pinagisipan niya mabuti.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I’d like to be educated on Solenn’s issue.
    - what’s the difference on showing the reality of slums by Catriona and Solenn? Cat used it on her MU stint & Sos as object.
    - is everyone enraged because Solenn is not vocal about making the lives better in slums compared to Catriona?

Nakakatawa ka..not a cat fan but shes been.working with children sa slums

Eto endorsement binebenta artworm n rugs nya

      Delete
    2. She's racking up money out of poverty porn without actually shedding light to the circumstances of those poverty-stricken areas and people unlike Catriona who used poverty to enlighten people and encourage people to help out.

      Delete
    3. The difference between Solenn and Catriona is Cat actually have programs that helps the poor while Solenn is just using them as props.

      Delete
    4. 2:02 Do you have a specific parameter or research data for you to say na mas may benefit yung ginawa ni Cat sa ginagawa ni Solenn?

      Delete
    5. Wow biased naman kayo. Cat also romanticizes poverty kaya lang she gets a pass for winning Miss U lol. How do you know that Solenn does not donate? Most people na may kaya nagdodonate hindi lang pinapublicize because they get criticized.

      Delete
    6. Solenn spent time with true manila group many years ago .. I saw the pic on fb Bc I know the founder but did not see it in press.. google nyo Na Lang kung Ano yun then ask yourself what have you done for people less fortunate than you..this is for those accusing her of using squatter area .. she never boast about what she did for them to defend herself even when you people are bashing her . You all owe her an apology

    7. 1:53, 2:02, 2:04 How do you even know na walang itinitulong si solenn?? Maraming tao na tumutulong nang di ipipasapubliko. Tss.

    8. 12:57 eh kasi nman girl, yung kay Cat before, during, and after the pageant, continues prin ang pagtulong niya s charity (which is the poor children).

While si Solenn, art lng. 1 time used. Ganyun

      Delete
    2. 12:58 Do you even know the reason why kids are cropped out?

  17. Mas ang Ng highlight Yong background at hinde yong painting kahit anong connect pa ang sasabihin mo poor taste talaga to SA daming daming location NGA pwede Dyan pa lol

    1. The goal is for you not to turn a blind eye on whatbis happening around us, pinost nya o, wag kang mangmang

      Delete
    2. 1:49 Then dapat hindi niya ginawang background & separate dapat ang art niya. Nagkakaroon ng divided attention between poverty & her art.

      Delete

    ReplyDelete
  19. Ang ganda ng painting sa likod. Kung afford ko lang, I would totally buy one of her paintings. She's legit good. Her art would shine better kung sa studio na lang sana sya nag shoot, maybe behind a light peach background.

    ReplyDelete
  20. before baby she was painting some kids from slum. so siguro part of the exhibit were those - putting the flight of our poverish countrymen in her painting.
i feel neutral with this one, although i agree, it was not the best promo material for her exhibit.

    ReplyDelete

  22. una kong naisip is urban jungle achuchu...sorry na

    ReplyDelete
So yes, tama yung mga commenters.

    ReplyDelete
  24. It’s not her intention that is being called out her but the execution. She uses the slums as her background, all while posing with a carpet she is SELLING. It leaves a bad taste. Even if she wants to call to light poverty in the PH, there are certainly better ways to go about and NOT LIKE
    THIS. So disappointing.

    ReplyDelete

She just happens to be theone you're familiar with hence the criticism.

      Delete
    2. 1:36 I guess nasa perception at interpretation lang yan. It just so happens that the way you interpret things is based on your mindset. Kung nega ka , you will see things negatively.

      Delete
    3. The carpet is there for fluidity, para magmukhang nag flow ang painting papunta sa floor. Parang artistic touch. Cause hello, mahal ang carpet niya diba, why o why would she want to associate it with the slums?

      Delete
  25. I think ung gusto nyang interpret jan sa art nya e the people lives now in a new kind of jungle, she wants to show the city jungle where everyday people struggle to survive.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  27. Andaming kuda. If you check Solenn’s other paintings, madalas nya gawing subject ang kalsada at everyday life ng ordinary people, not necessarily slums.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. 1:43 Dami ngang kuda.
I believe she’s not doing it with an ulterior motive, pero ang mga tao grabe maka judge. Poverty porn. Who coined this baduy term ba?

      Delete
Gets kita eh.

    ReplyDelete
  29. i dont think she thought this through. anyway ganda ng painting but the carpet design is meh

  30. baka teaser ito, not the whole concept. Part of the story.I dont know.

      Delete
  31. what the heck is poverty porn? may natuturn on ba sa poverty? jusko.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I dont think its poverty porn. It’s REALITY.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. 2:16, You obviously don’t understand what poverty porn means. It means using and exploiting the reality which is poverty. Gets mo.

      Delete
    2. Yes! pinoy are scared of reality puro make believe ang gusto

      Delete
    3. But it’s not her reality because she’s rich and privileged

      Delete
Gulo nyo.

      Delete
    5. 11:35 But art is not necessarily about the artists’ reality, but the reality around him/her. So if a “poor” artist painted rich people, and took a photo at bgc, would you people make a big deal out of it?

      Delete
    6. 11:35 but it is the reality of our country, the country she and us currently live in.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Hahata naman na ginagamit lang niya ang kahirapan nang tao sa pinas just to get noticed. That’s poverty porn by definition.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Question is—- who profits from this? Eh di si Solenn! Unless the proceeds go to the “poor”.

    ReplyDelete
  37. She deleted already and asked for apology

    ReplyDelete
  38. Thats the reality maraming mahihirap dito kahit sa city nakatira. Mababaw magisip yung nga haters na yan. Well infact thats the life of most filipinos and kontento sila sa buhay na meron sila i think yan ung gusto iexpress ni sos! The reality of the pinoys. Sooo proud of my girlcrush she really has a substance!

    ReplyDelete
  39. well i just hope proceeds will go to the poor

    ReplyDelete
  40. Rich girl trying to open our eyes to the “reality of life” as if we’re not aware of it already. I’ve seen most of her artworks and she’s really good but I just don’t feel comfortable with the thought of her painting the faces of “ordinary” people, while she drinks her expensive wine in Forbes Park, so she could sell them to other rich people like her.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  42. dami niyong problema a hahahah. It’s reality. lahat nalang ba proproblemahin niyo?

    ReplyDelete
  43. What’s wrong with this is, pagkakakitaan nya kasi yung “poverty” as a theme ng art works nya. Without even trying to help. Sinasabi nya shedding the light blablabla pero anong actions nya after that? Or it’s all for her?

    ReplyDelete
  44. what's wrong with the background. go to art exbihit first before you judge.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Honestly some of these people criticizing her are those pa-woke elites na ang tingin nila sa sarili nila savior at gatekeepers ng mga tao.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Haaay.. It’s ART!

  47. The responses would be opposite kung lumaki si solenn sa slum.

  52. Akalain mo un? Dami palang Filipino na aesthete, hahaha! Ibuh talaga eh, dami natin scientists, microbiologist, lawyers etc. Puro graduate ng facebook, tiktok at instagram University! Hahaha

    ReplyDelete
  53. Ang gusto kasi yata ng nakakarami dito is kapag poverty, dpat kawaan lng. Dapat yung realistic lng. Dapat yung tulungan lng or pede gamitin for promotion/movie/show pero may kapalit n tutulungan nila ang nilapitan nilang poor.

But noon, pede gamitin ang poverty as an art subject. One of the best example is "hapag ng pag asa" ni Joel Velasco on which he uses the Last supper painting as reference and real life poor children as the subject.

Bkit ngayon bwal n gamitin ang poverty as an art kung yun nman ang reality ng ating bansa? It is not she romanticist it or abuses someone for the sake of art. Serious question here.

    ReplyDelete
  54. As I interpret it? it's like daydreaming (in a tranquil nature) trapped in a real (nightmarish) world.

Whenever people are trap in hideous places or situations? everyone can always escape from it with a little hope in our minds by keeping optimistic thoughts.

'Wag puro nega, as beauty cannot be seen superficially, it lies within the soul, mind and spirit.

Solenn have invested so much of her time and energy on that piece only with genuine passion can do.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Unless BenCab makes a comment on this one yun lang ang paniniwalaan ko. I was surprised to learn that his muse for Sabel was actually a scavenger. I didn't have a clue because he turned the woman into a piece of art. Walang bahid ng kahirapan.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I don’t see anything wrong with the background! i actually like the concept. Oh well.

    ReplyDelete
It’s also common among the rich painters kasi hindi kasing “shocking” ang mga buhay nila. And who can enjoy those paintings? Only the rich, among themselves. Pero yuck those dirty fingers pls don’t touch.
