Businesses have been drastically affected by the pandemic. Although small-scale entrepreneurs that are mostly into home-made products are thriving, other businesses are feeling the effects in their finances. Among the worst hit investments are in the health and lifestyle industries, as activities requiring touching are disallowed.
Gyms, spas, aesthetic centers, among others are feeling the pinch due to the many weeks of closure. Even with guidelines, income will not be that lucrative in the coming months, and thus closure is inevitable. The reduced capacity or limited number of users and customers is economically not viable. Membership renewal is diminishing as well.
Unfortunately, pressure coming from a Major Franchisee (MF) is adding to the woes of Local Investors (LIs) of a lifestyle center. With the end of the pandemic still muddled, most LIs already want to close down operations. However, MF has been preventing any such move by the LIs. Allegedly, MF has threatened LIs with the fine print of their contracts and LIs, of course, cannot afford any legal case at this point. LIs can feel the bullying of MF. If the LIs all close down, MF fears having no more centers when things return to normal or when a vaccine is finally available.
Thus, MF is continuously collecting fees related to the franchise, technology, ads, and others, as MF feels that business should go on. The LIs cannot even feel compassion and understanding from MF, who seems to have chosen money over welfare of the LIs.

DeleteMay mga ganyang tao talaga. Sakim sa pera. Parang yung landlord ko, umalis na lang daw kami pag di kami makabayad, pero forfeited yung 3 months deposit.

Oag 2 months di makabayad puputulan ka ng utilities (water, electricity)
Eh 6 months na kaming di nakakapagtrabaho.

DeleteSmall business owner kasi landlord mo. S/he probably only has a couple of units for rent and is probably paying for amortization. Although masama lang delivery nya.

ReplyDeleteIpabaranggay no. Deposit yun, it has to be returned. The law is on your side. Or consume the whole amount in rent. Ginawa na yan sa barkada ko, kinasuhan yung landlord. Lumang scheme na yan na pinagbabawal na ng batas
ReplyDeleteHello! Di kayo pwedeng paalisin ng landlord nyo. Wag kayong umalis. You have a right to be there yung pag pe pressure sa inyo ay labas sa Bayanihan Act. If he wants to eject you, idaan nya sa korte. Hindi rin nya pwedeng basta basta i forfeit ang deposit nyo unless may kontrata kayo. Do not leave your apartment. Ipa barangay nyo kung hinaharass pa rin kayo.
ReplyDeleteGrabe unfair ang batas. Pano kung yung landlord/landlady yun din ang income nila. Namuhunan sa pagpapagawa ng apartment. Ang laki ng investment din nila. Knowing Pinoy gagawing pang justify yan lagi para di magbayad ng upa kahit kumikita na pustahan.

Tama naman na wag ipa.consume deposit pano na lang electricity bill, etc pag umalis na kayo eh tyak ang laki nun dahil lahat nasa bahay.
