Imelda Papin defended herself following the backlash she received for taking part in a music video released by the Chinese Embassy in Manila, which many Filipinos online viewed as an insult.
Titled "Iisang Dagat," the music video was billed as a call for unity between China and the Philippines amidst the coronavirus pandemic, featuring lines such as, "Ikaw at ako'y nasa iisang dagat." But many took it as an insult instead, noting China’s aggressive sovereignty claim over the West Philippine Sea.
In a message sent to ABS-CBN News' Mario Dumaual, the singer maintained that the song is about "unity," that she had taken no talent fee for the project, and that she had hoped it would inspire Filipinos during these anxious times.
"Dapat huwag bigyan ng kulay," she said. "Kasi mababa ang morale ng tao ngayon . . . Ngayon ang panahon na dapat magkaisa at wala na munang away."
Her statement came after she became one of the most talked about people on Twitter locally this Saturday, and Papin took offense with the posts lambasting her decision to lend her voice to the song.
"Bakit i-criticize ang participation ko?" she asked, before lashing out: "Bakit hindi sila kumibo sa mga tulong na binibigay ng China --doctors, protective equipment, etc."
"Bakit ako? I pray for everyone and as Filipinos let us all pray together and healed as one! Hindi ako sumingil kahit isang centavo. For love and unity," she said.
Her full statement can be read below:
"Hayaan natin sila ipagdasal ko na lang. Kasi hindi naman ako nag presenta. Ako mismo ang kinuha . . . bilang chosen artist ni Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Huang Xilian — the composer of the song — at ang message ng song — it's all about unity — awitin ng
pagkakaisa, pagtutulungan at pag asa."

But Malaysian Prime Minister Mahatir declined China's offer of lending money for building infrastructures. China will lend the money to Malaysia, but from Engineering, workers and material will be from China. PM Mahatir said, "I have the people and building material, why do I need to take from your side"? Sri Lanka, after they were not able to pay the money loaned to them by China, the largest port of Sri Lanka was leased to China for 99 years. China is always untruthful, like this Covid19.

DeleteState an example when the US back-stabbed Philippines, 3:36pm. It's easy to say things without proof, you know. So here are my anecdotal facts and proofs: I never heard of any Filipino saying that they want to go and live in China to get rich. But any Filipino in the US gets to work and earn decent wages, have the opportunities to have better lives, have the option to sponsor their families to migrate (this is in their government website*), climb the corporate ladder, be entrepreneurs etc (Many Filipino businesses, import&export or trade, population growth, children going to colleges there, are in their annual minority demographic statistics which means to show you the progress Filipino-Americans living there). In China, you go there as DH, you come back as DH. And if you're good with money, you may be lucky enough to build yourself a house in the province. They don't give you that much opportunities to live and truly prosper. They're a communist country (fact*), you cannot be free there, they monitor your every move and every word you utter against their government (fact*). Even their own citizens escape communist China and live in capitally inclined countries such as... you guessed it, US of A (fact* Chinese-Americans are the highest minority population next is Indian, then Vietnamese). Lesser of two evils? Definitely, definitely not China.

We should stop buying everything made in china and start producing our own, or we can also buy made from other countries because they have much better qualities. China should be held accountable by what they brought to the rest of the world.

It's so funny, they created this virus that resulted to Pandemic where all the countries are suffering now. Dahil kung naging truthful lang ang CCP about this virus eh naagapan na at hindi na lumabas ng China. CCP knew this deadly visur, instead of locking down eh hinayaan pa nilang lumabas ang libo libong Chinese to celebrate their lunar year sa labas ng China. In their mind while only China will have this virus.
