And according to WHO, there are about 1 million people in the PH that have active TB disease and every day more than 70 people die in the PH because of it. And BTW, PH has the 3rd highest prevalence of this very infectious disease, next to South Africa and Lesotho.

DeletePeople parroting articles without analyzing what the stats actually mean annoys me to no end. I’ve seen countless of them on fb and i couldn’t rebut because they’re my friends. Fatality rates aren’t even accurate as of now as the epidemic is ongoing. I’m even disregarding the strong possibility that there are many unreported cases (eg. as more people are getting symptoms there are less testing kits available, the govt is also silencing the media over the virus etc), I would go by the numbers we have alone. 200/9k+ deaths over the course of two months vs SARS with 770/8k+ deaths over the course of one year (a higher fatality rate which of course is true. For now.) It’s not even the fatality rate that you should be worried about but the R0 (which we’ve yet to find out) the number of people that an infected person can infect. Having a fatality rate of only 2% may still cause thousands of deaths. Now I don’t condone fear mongering but I wouldn’t downplay this either. Better to remember it just to be safe.
