Amalia’s is half german, Gloria Romero half American.
RIP Miss Amalia Fuentes. I admire you growing up watching your old Sampaguita movies sa Channel 9.
Same here. I grew up watching those old films every summer afternoons and my favorite are from Sampahuita Pictures. My mom is from the same era so that she would often regale us about those golden age of the Philippine cinema. Sadly, it is the end of the era. RIP to one of the most beautiful face that ever graced our silver screen.
RIP Amalia Fuentes. She was my favorite amongst the Sampaguita Pictures ladies. Ako din, I watched the re-runs of old black and white movies of Sampaguita Pictures in Channel 9 when I was young. Kahit kanino ata sya i-partner, may chemistry. My favorite movie is Inang Mahal, and I remember my lola and my titas and my cousins crying after watching that film. I've been trying to look for dvd copies of that movie pero wala ako makita. I hope whoever owns the rights to those movies e maisipan nila magbenta ng copy. I'd be one of the first to purchase a dvd set. Maganda rin makilala sila ng younger generations, and younger actors could learn from them.
I was staying at my friend's beach house and kaibigan nya yun mom ng friend ko. Very unpretentious sya, naka shorts and no make up. May edad na sya noon and a little on the heavy side pero bakas na bakas pa din sa mukha nya ang ganda. RIP po and condolences to her family.
Noong araw pag sinabing artista mukhang artista talaga. Yung mga leading ladies at leading men, specifically. Hindi pa rin uso ang retoke noon. Pag maganda o gwapo, ganun talaga ang itsura nila on and off cam. I saw Amalia noong 70's sa Manila Film Festival parade at stunning talaga ang ganda nya. Nakakatulala. My mother's idol.
True!
They embraced age and grew old gracefully sans enhancements or any intervention. Even yung tindig nila and the way they carried themselves, still so dignified.
She's from an era where stars really look like stars. They looked much more dignified and glamorous back then and conducted themselves in a more respectable manner. They were trained to always be presentable when appearing in public. Those were really the golden years.
She's one of those actresses who reminded me those days when I was just a young girl watching Sine Siete movies. My fave movie from her was the "Senyorito at ang Atsay", her partner was Juancho Gutierrez. May she rest in peace...
Uy natyempuhan ko yan Baby Bubut one time sa PBO I think. Sya pala yun? I remember her character there is isip bata pero grabe ang ganda. Nakakatuwa talaga yung mga sinaunang movies. I'm a millennial pero naaappreciate ko talaga sya.
Not only beautiful, intelligent pa. Before, entering showbiz, she obtained a scholarship for studies abroad. But being the breadwinner, she opted to pursue acting as the opportunity arose. She's a certified beauty and brains indeed.
Ke gaganda at kegaguapo. Yung legit ganda o guapo na meztizo or moreno, morena. Partida di pa uso ang cosmetic surgery noon or di pa talaga advance kaya wala pang nagpapagawa.
Hmmm....she was very beautiful and talented as oppose to today’s celebs - mediocre looks and not much talent. Just all hype and promo sa social media ang alam nila and their handlers.
She was so beautiful RIP and be reunited with your loved ones Amalia

ReplyDeleteNot only beautiful, intelligent pa. Before, entering showbiz, she obtained a scholarship for studies abroad. But being the breadwinner, she opted to pursue acting as the opportunity arose. She's a certified beauty and brains indeed.
DeleteI saw her house in Forbes Park way back.
DeleteCorrect, marunong mag invest and I think siya din nag aadvice sa kanyang mga pamangkin like nino and aga kaya mayayaman silang lahat.
Ke gaganda at kegaguapo. Yung legit ganda o guapo na meztizo or moreno, morena. Partida di pa uso ang cosmetic surgery noon or di pa talaga advance kaya wala pang nagpapagawa.
