Former Ilocos Sur governor and businessman Chavit Singson on Monday released his official statement in response to the Miss Universe Organization (MUO) having confirmed that its local franchise still belongs to the Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. (BPCI).

“I am thankful and honored for the statement made by the Miss Universe Organization recognizing my and the LCS Group’s contribution to the success of the organization and its various initiatives. I am excited to work with the Araneta Group and all our partners in developing Miss Universe in the Philippines further as well as welcoming the candidates to Vigan City. The Miss Universe pageant has always been about the empowerment of women, of which I am always in full support of,” he said.

Ending speculations as to who holds the said franchise, the MUO on Saturday said that it aims to continue their partnership with the Araneta Group on BPCI “while seeking to modernize and grow the brand into more than a one day special” with the help of Chavit’s LCS group.

“Simply put, without the vision and support of LCS, and specifically Governor Chavit Singson, the dream of hosting Miss Universe in the Philippines would not have been a reality. Governor Chavit Singson and (his daughter) Richelle Singson Michael worked tirelessly on behalf of Filipinos everywhere to make the Philippines the home of the Miss Universe 2016 event,” they said.

  3. yeah I think Chavit's group has the capability of funding the Miss Universe in terms of promoting it outside of metro Manila.

    5. 11:23 dapat nga hindi na siya umuupo as judge. Parang mas gusto niya panalo yung mga kalahi niya.

  4. the Araneta group's final bullet - they challenged MUO that if Chavit's group will take the ownership of MUP, then they will be in the forefront along with other countries' franchise holders and other close friends in peageant world in protesting against MUO when it accepts LCS as main partner and contributor for the yearly Miss U pageant for conflict of interest...

natauhan MUO, and naisip nila better to keep LCS their partner and sponsor na nga lang in staging Miss U (especially in countries they wish to hold it yet kulang ang sponsor)

    1. Oh, that makes sense.

    2. Right!
      Naisip ko nga rin yan...
Miss U has always been struggling in staging pageant in other countries - parating hindi nafo forecast ng maayos ang needed amount.

manila pageant - kulang pala ang $12M, LCS agreed to shell out more
bangkok pageant - dumating sa point na nacancel na ang pageant at ibabalik na lang sa vegas, if not sumaklolo ang another production group
south korea - hindi masara sara ang deal dahil kulang sa budget, LCS again to the rescue

Miss U has always been tied in vegas if not for outside financiers like LCS and they want to keep it that way.

And MUO indeed knows theyll lose a lot of franchise if LCS produces Miss U Phils, LCS sponsors Miss U (which at this point kelangang kelangan nila), and Miss U candidate wins...

Mexico and Venezuela have been leading the questioning.

Kawawa rin candidate natin pag nagkataon, mawawalan ng credibility

    3. I think ha, malaki ang investments na pinapasok ng LCS group dito. Im also proud of that because kapwa natin Pilipino ang nagsasalba sa Miss U pageant. Talagang parang Super Bowl sa Pilipinas ang Miss U.

  5. at least meron group like LCS na gusto magsabog ng pera for the purpose of MU pageant. This goes to show na Hindi po monopolyo ng Araneta ang Miss Universe. May mga ibang Pilipino din na mayayaman ang kayang mag labas ng salapi para diyan.
