If she wants filipinos seen in american films maybe they should audition not demand to be included? You dont see americans or chinese demand to be represented in any Philippine dramas so what made her think that filipinos abroad are entitled to be part of any US dramas without them earning their slot?
Are you out of your mind? There must be a role for others to audition. If it’s not written in the story then there won’t be a spot for Pinoy nurses. And what Philippine drama that is centered within a family or barangay would require a non-Pinoy in the story?
Speaks poorly of how you understand the issue. You should have not opened your mouth because clearly you are out of touch with reality. Audition really?
@12:30 I agree with you @ 12:51 am. Galing galingan si 12:30 eh. Totoo nmn talaga Kahit San ka sa US , kakir morning shift or night shift Kahit Anong Deparment meron ngang Pinoy nurses...
You didn't get what she said. What she was trying to point out is, a hospital drama without an actor playing as a Filipino nurse is kind of funny since a lot of nurses in California or New York are Filipinos.
12:30 Lea is just using what was expressed at the Emmy's regarding diversity on TV. The hosts were stating the fact that ER for 15 years on air never had a Filipino nurse on its casts which doesn't reflect the true state of the hospitals in the US.
12:30 do you really get the point? Khit saang healthcare ka pumunta dito may Pinoy nurses at madami as in madaming Pinoy nurses. So its not realistic na walang Pilipino sa show. Nakuha nyo po? English english kase wala nman pla sa Amerika. Ay sauce!
2:14, paulit ulit ka. It does not matter who thought of it first. Lea prob echoed it kasi tama naman! You’re so nega for trying to mention it in every comment! My gosh kairita
My comments can only be understood by those with an open mind and working brain, which you obviously don't possess. I'm sure you don't know that. Because. -Leya
Oo nga! Tapos yung me mga mayayamang walang Domestic Helper na Pinoy!!!! Like yung sa Crazy Rich Asians at mga me features ng mga Rich People of this World tapos walang alilang Pinoy!???? Haler!!!!!
So true,I've been hospitalized last yr,treated at an ICU for heart patients in one of the biggest hospitas here in Nevada,US and, two of assistant heart surgeons were Pinoys 4 of the six nurses in operating room were Pinoys, and 3 of the 4 nurses who regularly attended to me were Pinays, plus a host of support office and medical staff, many of them pinoys.Kind, caring, competent Filipino medical practioners.Mabuhay.I owe them my second lease of life.
2:24 what are you trying to say? Nursing is a noble profession. Mhirap mkapasok sa nursing program madaming tests. And they earn a lot of money. Mataas respeto sa mga nurses sa amerika.
I wish people like Lea Salonga would stop doing sh** like this but instead encourage Filipinos 2 prove their worth thru their talent & skills. She played the role of Kim, a Vietnamese woman in Miss Saigon. That role could've gone 2 a real Vietnamese woman if they had bcome too PC
Hindi siya pinili over the others dahil pinoy Siya. How many pinoys get the job?
Do you even know what PC means? If you have a white girl playing an Asian gaya ni Emma Stone playing a Hawaiian eh mali talaga yun. But one race playing someone from the same race is not being UN-PC
I think it was mentioned/joked before na rin. Sa dinami dami ng seasons ng ER. Wala yatang “pinoy looking” na nurse. Eh in reality, they’re everywhere. Lol.
Yeah @1:00 i think sa Emmy's yun pinoint-out nung comedian host na sa hinaba haba ng season ng ER eh wala syang nakitang Filipino nurses sa staff, to which he found amuzing given the fact na lahat ata ng hosp at clinics sa US eh may mga pinoys, siguro may first hand experience sya sa caring approach ng pinoy nurses kaya tumatak yun sa kanya and made him wonder "why".. Soap/non sci fi dramas are reflection of their society.. And the host has no pinoy heritage at all mind you (i mean them hehe).. So kaya rin siguro napaisip si ate mo Lea hehe.. Siguro wait wait lang.. Sa ibang drama naman may pinoy casts with other roles aside from nurses. Like yung sa Superstore diba pinoy ganap ni bakla dun hehe..
I think it was mentioned before by a stand-up comedian (non-Filipino) during a gig.
But how can non-white actors show their "merit" if they do not have roles to audition for?
Let’s be real, if realism it is that they want, then there would be more Filipino nurses on shows in hospital settings. But, honestly, I can imagine the furor of Internet trolls if they see a bunch of Filipino nurses but no Filipino doctors. If it were just Lea, I would agree for the sake of faithfulness to reality, pero from experience Filipino trolls (not all) are never satisfied given the entitlement they feel “on behalf of” fellow Filipinos.
There's a Filipino in almost all the hospitals I've been. When I delivered my kids, at least two staff assigned to me were kabayans. It's a relief to see a familiar face while you're in OR, while recovering from CS, and when nurses do their rounds. At the same time, they're more relaxed too when their patient is a kabayan, hahaha! They get to have the small talks they aren't able to do with the other patients who are not Filipinos.
Don't be Low IQ, sinabi ba niyang PINOY actors only need apply? Her point is to have the group represented, pwede namang ibang Asian actors ang gumanap ng role.
In every hospitals in the US or even in the UK maraming filipino nurses. Ganun po un!! Hindi sya nag d demand!!!
Nakakaasar talaga ang mga taong ganito. Sobrang entitled.

DeleteThere are so many pinoy actors but they dont hire them coz there is prejudice in hollywood
DeleteI LOVE ALING LEA FOR THIS!!! THEY DON'T HAVE TO MAKE ALL CAST PINOY - ONE OR TWO WOULD BE ENOUGH!!!
DeleteNood kayo ng emmy awards 2018, part ng opening yan ng hosts regarding ER not having any pinoy nurse, pinalitan lang ni lea ng grey's anatomy.
Deletethe show is centred on doctors and not nurses
Delete12:30 Lea is just using what was expressed at the Emmy's regarding diversity on TV. The hosts were stating the fact that ER for 15 years on air never had a Filipino nurse on its casts which doesn't reflect the true state of the hospitals in the US.

ReplyDeleteNahiya si G.A TV Producer/Writer Shonda Rhimes, ganern? Haha!
DeleteSo what 214? Pinansin ba ung orig commenter? Mas may dating kung sabihin uli ni Lea being a Pinoy na may international exposure.
Delete2:14, paulit ulit ka. It does not matter who thought of it first. Lea prob echoed it kasi tama naman! You’re so nega for trying to mention it in every comment! My gosh kairita

DeleteOo nga! Tapos yung me mga mayayamang walang Domestic Helper na Pinoy!!!! Like yung sa Crazy Rich Asians at mga me features ng mga Rich People of this World tapos walang alilang Pinoy!???? Haler!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHonga!
DeleteI think Astrid’s housekeepers were portayed as Filipinos because of their accent lol
Deletewell if you're watching The Good Doctor may sinasali na sila na Filipino nurses dun.

ReplyDeleteMadami tlagang Pinoy sa Nevada!

DeleteModern day slaves ang mga pinoy.
Delete2:24 what are you trying to say? Nursing is a noble profession. Mhirap mkapasok sa nursing program madaming tests. And they earn a lot of money.

ReplyDeleteYou think Lea will resort to those kind of antics? Sa Glee nga, never syang nagparinig.
DeleteKaloka ka baks you got me at the nurse na mas marunong pa sa doctor hahaha
DeleteWell, they have to be able to act first, di ba? Hindi lang porke pinoy, okay na.
ReplyDeleteYup. So much this. Please give out the role by merit.
DeleteGanito kasi yun mga klasmeyts, yan ang defense ng mga hindi naghahire ng mga non-whites sa us because of "merit". But how can non-white actors show their "merit" if they do not have roles to audition for?
