Stop being bitter... pana panahon lang yan. For sure naman me criteria sa pagpili at di lang basta basta. Si Ryan Cayabyab IS RYAN CAYABYAB.. my goodness!
Ryan Cayabyan is a National Treasure! His works have won the Philippines accolades/awards! Kay Ganda ng Ating Musika, Paraiso, Misa, aside from his opm compositions which were all hits in the 70s, 80’s . Up to now, he is still contributing to the music industry by discovering new talents and sharing his music abroad! That guy does not know what he is talking about! Do your research! This time kay Jim P ako!
jim paredes has been dealing with trolls more extensively in the past few years. he should know better than to argue with someone na nagmamarunong. the person he's debating with cannot be argued with kasi hindi naman open-minded para makinig. if her were sincere in asking about the credentials of ryan cayabyab to be a national artist, he would've heeded jim's advice to research on ryan's life and works. tama si jim, sobrang myopic ng kaniyang view sa mga ginawa ni cayabyab. lahat based lang sa popular works niya. may google naman kasi, ang dali-dali na lang magresearch ngayon. there really is no excuse for ignorance anymore in this day and age.
Thank God for Jim Paredes. It's pretty clear this troll knows very little about Mr. C's work and its impact to OPM. He's probably one of those hipsters who hates anything mainstream. Pag sikat "uncool" na. lol Sad, he's missing out on some GREAT music.
True. Ryan c was not the maestro for nothing. Isa pang natatandaan ko eh yung jingles ng cosmos commercials before which btw were also some of the best phil commercials
I'm a millenial (1900+) and I do appreciate Mr. C's works. Maybe yung mga later generation ang hndi maka appreciate ng mga gnito bagay since mraming new songs (both local and intl) at close minded s maraming bagay
Parehas silang may punto. I agree with Jim na Ryan Cayabyab being more “mainstream” than Amelia-Lapeña Bonifacio should not make his distinction any less legitimate, for his work has truly resonated with Filipinos and has helped shape Filipino music to what it is today. At the same time, popularity with the masses shouldn’t be the only determining factor, kasi art has many facets and mediums. Dapat we should recognize all hangga’t kaya. Also, pag usapang national artist dapat hindi naka-base sa counterpats, that’s a total disrespect to our artists, let them receive recognition for their actual work. Nora Aunor is an amazing actress for example at hindi niya kailangan ng pangalan ni Meryl Streep to get accolades for her work, in her own country.
Small remark, sorry hindi ko lang mapigilan: Jim, “Japs” is a derogatory word.
4:16 if u not aware, J*p is a racial slur. Like *ints*k is a slur. He could have used JPN, or just Japanese. Even if he didn't intend to, he could always learn new things right?
mahusay si ryan cayabyab. eh ano kung pop at mainstream ang karamihan sa mga gawa niya. hindi pa rin maikakaila na mahusay siya. and excuse me the coconut nut is a novelty classic. ganun ka wide ang range ni mr. c. He can be a conductor to an orchestra gumawa ng isang musical play and then next gumawa ng pop song. pacool lang itong si miyako. yan ang nakakairita sa iba. porket di napili bet nila sisiraan yung ibang napili.
may pa name drop name drop pa c basher to sound more believable. honestly, if "the coconut nut" is all you remember from Ryan Cayabyab, then everything example you said were just googled by you
Living artists who have been Filipino citizens for the last ten years prior to nomination as well as those who have died after the establishment of the award in 1972 but were Filipino citizens at the time of their death;
Artists who have helped build a Filipino sense of nationhood through the content and form of their works;
Artists who have distinguished themselves by pioneering in a mode of creative expression or style, making an impact on succeeding generations of artists;
Artists who have created a significant body of works and/or have consistently displayed excellence in the practice of their art form, enriching artistic expression or style; and
Artists who enjoy broad acceptance through prestigious national and/or international recognition, awards in prestigious national and/or international events, critical acclaim and/or reviews of their works, and/or respect and esteem from peers within an artistic discipline.
Woody Guthrie of the Philippines? Tama si Jim, bakit kelangan may "of the philippines" lagi? If you want Heber to reach a wider audience eh di use your Socmed to do just that and not tear down another man's work. It's not fair to him hindi siya nagbigay sa sarili niya ng award.
Both are opinions.
Ang dami na ginawang opm music, plays, orchestral works, Music for the UP madz, composer nila Hajji, Sharon, Basil, Celeste, Kuh, Etc. Dami awards natanggap for his composition.
Kay ganda ng ating musika is something that transcends generation and social strata, I think that what makes mr. C different because his artistry is universal.
Although I don't agree with Jim's political opinion, but his opinions about music, especially on this one, I agree with him. Sana palaging ganito. At 'yang si Miyako, napaka ignorante talaga. Bata palang ako, Ryan Cayabyab na yan.
Believe it or not, the commenter has a point. No one questions what Mr. C has accomplished but enough ba yun para maging National Artist? Lagi na lang the commenter isn't exposed to Mr. C's works. The fact that it didn't transcend generations nor create an impact across generations speaks highly why this dude is questioning why he got the title.
9:13pm What generations are you referring to? What song?
Alam mo 10:37 magsama kayo ni Miyako parehong pag-iisip nyo, kung sya ang sumulat at umareglo does it take away the credit from mrC? Singer lang ba ang credited? The fact that it’s a piece na ginagamit sa mga chorale, manood ka kahit Madrigal singers na performance for years, then oo it’s one of the pieces from his repertoire that transcended time and social strata.
marami ng pieces si Mr C na kinanta sa chorale world champ and I swear marami na din dun nanalo, so di pa din ba treasure satin yan?. ALAMIN NYO MUNA MGA WORKS BAGO MAGSALITA. Nakakagigil kayo.
Sabaw si basher.Bata pako may Ryan Cayabyab na, sikat na sikat noon yung Smokey Mountain, ilang singing competition napalanunan nila?Pa- smart si basher.

ReplyDeleteHe engaged the “basher” kasi si Miyako ‘yan, one of the vocal critics of PRRD at parang ex-personal friend/acquaintance ni Sassot.
DeleteYep. So not exactly a troll kasi she has following. Was never aware of her until several retweets of her posts started appearing on my feed.
DeleteI’m with Jim on this one! Di masagot ni Miyako yung ibang rebuttal ni Jim. She sounded like a hater lang.
ReplyDeleteThank God for Jim Paredes. It's pretty clear this troll knows very little about Mr. C's work and its impact to OPM. He's probably one of those hipsters who hates anything mainstream. Pag sikat "uncool" na. lol Sad, he's missing out on some GREAT music.

Actually he's underrated na bigla. Kaloka kasi ang generation ngayon. He deserves it!
ReplyDeleteGosh. Ang epal lang ng basher. Ano ba gusto niyang patunayan?
ReplyDeleteTrue. Ryan c was not the maestro for nothing. Isa pang natatandaan ko eh yung jingles ng cosmos commercials before which btw were also some of the best phil commercials
ReplyDeleteTrue Millenials? Probably GenZ ang di maka appreciate sakanya. Millenials regonize and will definitely agree na he's deserving!
DeleteI don't know why people keep on using millennials e karamihan samin late 20s early 30s na. GenY grew up with his music

I side with u Jim but maybe u dont know J*p is a racial slur.
ReplyDeleteHahaha! I-DM mo na sya dali!
DeleteJapanese ang sinasabi nya and not the insult. Bakit naman nya sasabihin yun
Delete4:16 if u not aware, J*p is a racial slur. Like *ints*k is a slur. He could have used JPN, or just Japanese. Even if he didn't intend to, he could always learn new things right?
DeleteComposer, singer, conductor, record producer, star builder/discoverer, hitmaker, ano pa gusto nya to prove that Mr C deserves the award?
ReplyDeleteWhy do people act like their opinions are facts?
ReplyDeleteBecause they're close minded people
DeleteAgree ako kay Jim Paredes. Di masagot ni basher ung ilang punto. Mr. C is Mr. C, hindi kung sinong eklat of the Philippines. May maicompare lang.
