When I think of Maine, top-of-mind is red lips. Iconic shade of Yaya Dub. It's the red Mac shade she wore that people liked. So why did they come out with a nude shade? A red shade would have made her stand out in the market which is already saturated with nude shades and celebrity lipsticks.
As you said, yaya dub "is" all red lips. This is Maine's brand - simple, versatile, and "masa"/universal. And fans nya from 10 to 90 years old. Do you want your aunties and grandmas to wear bright red ruby woo lippie? Hindi diba. This is the smarter choice business-wise.
I think it's her genes, ganun talaga eyes nya. But her eyes are expressive and gorgeous though and that matters more, don't you think? No need to beauty shame other girls. We are all different and we are all queens in our own right!
Dapat nagpakita si Maine ng different looks using that shade. Like one with no make-up just the lipstick, tapos may everyday make-up and night/ glam look. Puro kasi heavy make-up. Mas pansin ko pa yung eye make-up kesa sa lipstick.
Bakit ito ang shade? Hindi ito bagay sa lahat. I tried peachy nude shades. Mukha akong maysakit. I'm fair skinned btw. Mas universal ang pinkish brown nude.
Truth is, wala naman atang one shade to match all skin tones. Pinkish nude ay hindi bagay sa warm tone, dark skinned ladies kaya siguro peachy nude ang mas "universal" sa mga pinay.
Such a nice shade! I'll watch out for it so I can use it for my wedding next year! Other MAC makers had red, so it was nice to see a nude one. Good job, Maine!
Hmmmm the color fits Maine, no doubt she looks gorgeous. But I don't think the color fits well to all pinay's. I haven't seen her in person yet, but I don't think she's that morena, that's why her nude/peached tone lipstick suits her well. I saw photos in the internet of girls who tested her lipstick, it looked too pale to those morenas, while it looks so good to those who have fair skin or chinitas.
And I agree to those who said that her lipstick shade has a lot of dupes in the market, which has also good reviews and cheaper than MAC. I too was hoping for a bluish red or dark toned lipstick shade from her, as she was famous for the red/dark lipsticks she wears. Or I guess pink nudes suits pinay's well rather than peach nudes.
I guess the thing that makes this nude lipstick special is because it is formulated and created my Maine. Hence, still congratulations to Maine for her collaboration with MAC! :)
Personally, I love that she veered away from being too predictable as she is known for that red lipstick. What I do with my nude lipsticks naman is I use a deeper base whenever I use them. You can go with a red liptint base or a brown lip liner that you would put all over your lips.

Nude lippies are super tricky to wear kasi may tendency na wa wash out esp for morena skin girls. But pag pakak na pakak ang make up mo sobrang ganda talaga ng nude lipsticks. Favorite ko talga nude lipsticks lakas maka fresh at sobrang classy tignan.. mac kinda sexy ang sobrang nag co-compliment sa skin tone ko. Bet ko mga peachy shades na lippies than velvet teddy medyo dark sya sa akin pero maganda pa rin. Happy ako the she chose this shade but yes majority of us were expecting that she will go for red..

ReplyDeleteDapat nagpakita si Maine ng different looks using that shade. Like one with no make-up just the lipstick, tapos may everyday make-up and night/ glam look. Puro kasi heavy make-up. Mas pansin ko pa yung eye make-up kesa sa lipstick.

DeleteTruth is, wala naman atang one shade to match all skin tones. Pinkish nude ay hindi bagay sa warm tone, dark skinned ladies kaya siguro peachy nude ang mas "universal" sa mga pinay.

ReplyDeleteHmmmm the color fits Maine, no doubt she looks gorgeous. But I don't think the color fits well to all pinay's. I haven't seen her in person yet, but I don't think she's that morena, that's why her nude/peached tone lipstick suits her well. I saw photos in the internet of girls who tested her lipstick, it looked too pale to those morenas, while it looks so good to those who have fair skin or chinitas.
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree to those who said that her lipstick shade has a lot of dupes in the market, which has also good reviews and cheaper than MAC. I too was hoping for a bluish red or dark toned lipstick shade from her, as she was famous for the red/dark lipsticks she wears. Or I guess pink nudes suits pinay's well rather than peach nudes.
I guess the thing that makes this nude lipstick special is because it is formulated and created my Maine. Hence, still congratulations to Maine for her collaboration with MAC! :)
Agree. Was expecting a vibrant bluish/ purplish red from her. I guess they had to consider the market she represents? Not sure.
DeletePersonally, I love that she veered away from being too predictable as she is known for that red lipstick. What I do with my nude lipsticks naman is I use a deeper base whenever I use them. You can go with a red liptint base or a brown lip liner that you would put all over your lips.

DeleteNude lippies are super tricky to wear kasi may tendency na wa wash out esp for morena skin girls. But pag pakak na pakak ang make up mo sobrang ganda talaga ng nude lipsticks. Favorite ko talga nude lipsticks lakas maka fresh at sobrang classy tignan.. mac kinda sexy ang sobrang nag co-compliment sa skin tone ko. Bet ko mga peachy shades na lippies than velvet teddy medyo dark sya sa akin pero maganda pa rin. Happy ako the she chose this shade but yes majority of us were expecting that she will go for red..
