On the contrary. Her make up line is actually pretty good and reasonably priced if you buy it directly from the website. It's the resellers who mark up the prices to as much as double the price.
it's self made because she started th business on her own, its not even inherited. btw, what's wrong with using her fame just to make her business work, it's really part of the business and she saw just saw the advantage of their fame in her business. it's still self-made
Self made sya in a way na hindi nya ininherit yang business nya. Plus points yun being considered self made!
7:23 from what dictionary did you get the meaning that *self made* is from a poor person becoming a ceo? Self made is being successful by your own effort. Kylie did not inherit the make up line, she made it herself. The advantage she got is her money and fame to boost her OWN business..
What's there to be inggit? Just stating the facts. Even dictionary.com clarifies the term. Ok ka lang? If not for Kim Kardashian's tape before, do you think they would be living in luxury the way they do now? It's all on KIM. 12:15am
She started her business from scratch kaya tinawag na self-made.
She isn't self-made kasi attached sa makeup line niya yung name niya - the brand she inherited from her family. She doesn't manage the company. Actually, she did not even start it. She didn't make the formulation for those makeup. She just attached her name to it. It's called personal branding. The thing with personal branding, if you are a famous celebrity, someone (particularly a company) will approach you to use your name. You just have to license it and then they'll do the rest for you. That's privilege.
7:04 Correct! It wasn't even hard for her to sell/market those products because she was already Kylie Jenner when the company started. She has so many followers. Walang ka-effort effort!
Hay people, Yes, Kylie Jenner is born into a wealthy family but that doesnt mean that she isnt-self-made. Kylie comes from a wealthy family and she got a visibility boost from her family but she owns her company and is valued based on earnings she has personally received and on the value of the company she founded. Smh
She is not self-made. Do you know the meaning of self-made? She’s already rich and famous when she started her make-up line. It’s an insult to self-made billionaires like Steve Jobs, Richard Branson, Bill Gates and even Mark Zuckerberg. That’s why all the backlash against Forbes.
Hindi pa ren self made un...may resources na sya to begin with. Napakadale na para sknya yumaman. Kahit atsara pa ibenta nya magiging bilyonarya sya dahil papatok un dahil sa apelidong dala dala nya
yes I do get your point 12:42. But she started her own company and if I am not mistaken, americans were cut-off by their parents money by the age of 17 and technically when she is still by her teen days, she is already earning by being in the KUWTK, along with her campaigns which helped her raised her own empire, her make-up line. so technically, she used her money to build herself, her company. That is why she is still considered as self-made because she own the company 100% and there is no kardashian money runnin to it.
@12:42 the word self-made is technically based on the money her make-up line generates and is valued based on earnings she has personally received and on the value of the company she founded , without even counting the money she receives from her various campaigns.
So ang may karapatan lang matawag na self-made e yung from rags to riches? I don't think so. Haha! Self-made pa din yun kasi sya nagpayaman sa sarili nya thru her business na she started from wala.
Mga bakla... ibig sabihin ng self made is from not being a billionaire to a billionaire without inheriting the billions.
Mind your own business kasi wag magpa self made basher😂
kylie’s getting the same comments (if not worse) dun sa US, mostly from POC (black, to be more specific) because a lot of them feel she got where she is by exploiting their culture.
kardashians arent super rich. hyped lang sila. as a matter of fact, kylie was cut off from her mom's support at age 17. She is self made because she owns 100% of the company.. if her family helped her shouldnt they own a part of it?
khloe kendall kourtney's net wort are 50m or less... kylies is 900m... that 850m was definitely self made!
Just because she’s the sole proprietor ng company self-made, saan ba siya kumuha ng capital para itayo ang company niya, malamang may tulong pa rin pamilya niya, esp her mom?
She's been working since she was a little girl. They have money but it's her parent's money. Bruce is not even that rich. The point is, she made billions from millions on her own. Hence making her self made.
It's Bianca's opinion, shared by a lot of people too. Marami din naman disagree doon. Kanya kanyang perspective. For sure if she said the opposite, marami ring magrereact.
i see why some ppl think she’s not “self-made” but the way they insist it borders on being too salty niya. imbes na ipagpilitan na hindi nya deserve suportahan nalang nila yung ibang young entrepreneurs na tingin nila dapat mapansin din.
anyway, kylie (& the rest of the kardashian clan) is also getting flak kasi from appropriating & exploiting black culture, tapos may mga tao din dun na tingin nila eh her work in the beauty industry sort of celebrates plastic surgery more than actual make-up artistry. kaya talagang ang daming discussions tungkol sa forbes feature na yan.
Actually nobody is exploiting tbe black culture. Lahat kasi inaangkin nila. Take for example wearing dreadlocks. Hindi nila pagmamay-ari ang hairstyle na yan. In fact, the Celts, Germanic tribes, Greeks and Vikings (who are WHITE) were known to sport the hairstyle. Kung susundin natin logic ng cultural appropriation, which is one of the dumbest things na pinauso ng PC culture, eh di black people should stop wearing their hair straight, or coloring it blonde ganern! O wag na tayo kumain sa Chowking kasi it promotes the exploitation of Chinese culture.
But anyway, wag naman natin i-invalidate yung narating ni Kylie. Kahit pa she comes from a privileged family, kung wala syang business sense, walang Kylie Cosmetics. Wag masyado magmarunong.
That’s misleading though. Kylie is not a billionaire that why Forbes received a lot of flak. She is worth $50 million which is admirable for her age but she is not a billionaire like what others believe. Taxes and expenses did not factor in that computation. She does not own 100% of her company and she only gets 20% from it. Her company earned almost a billion but she is not a billionaire.
grabe ang mga tao. Yes kylie was born with it pero yun kung ano meron sya ni research nila at nag samples sila ng team at sila nag market ng product nila. bakit ba pilit nila i disregard yun effort ng team at company nya
Definition of Self-made. Self-made is used to describe people who have become successful and rich through their own efforts, especially if they started life without money, education, or high social status.
Kylie Jenner- Own effort? No, her family helped her be a part of a tv show where she started. Without Money? Definitely not. She was making a LOT of money since she started in a TV show. Education? - She Graduated but not sure if college grad. High social status? Ano sa tingin nyo?
It's so easy to start a business with all the money and influence she has since she started.
Lol).
And then this "especially if they started life without money, education, or high social status" means that it will be much easier for someone to be called self made if ganyan sila, but it doesn't limit it.
She’s already rich and famous nung nag make up line sya. I admire na naging successful sya pero wag nating sabihin na self-made sya. Self-Made yung nagsimula sa wala like say $5 na budget naging millionaire. Like the owner of Metrobank na talaga namang self-made.
A company can hire the best team to build it, but may still flop. I understand that some people may say that she didnt start from nothing, but some companies start with millions and still not become succesful. Kylie made her company. No investors, no big promotions from anyone but her. Still admirable for someone her age. ❤️
Ano ba guys. Ang definition ng self-made, yung nagtayo ka ng negosyo mo without anyone's aid. She is born wealthy with a very popular name. Kumbaga, may jumpstart na sya agad. Hindi self-made ang tawag dun. That doesn't take away the fact na successful sya. But no, she's not self made.
It was her passion for lipstick that made her start her line. PASSION. very transformative. She could have just cruised by with her family's fame but she didnt. It could have been any celebrity product but she did her research, stood by and shilled for her product like any respectable businessman. I do not like her and her values but as a businessman she has my respect. Walang madaling negosyo kahit sabihin mo pa na maraming magagaling na managers under you. Yung maraming kuda di businessman or di nagaral, simple.
Basta para sa akin, hindi siya self-made. Malamang naisip lang niya magkaroon ng makeup line tapos nag hire lang ng people to do the thinking for her.
Dictionary.com has tweeted that forbes has essentially misused the word self made in kylie jenners case in particular, yun siguro pinanggagalingan ng mga netizens na yan
Was that really hate replies? People gave opinions that is not aligned with her statement. I don't think anybody said that they are not happy for Kylie. I also don't think that Kylie is strictly self-made as she has a lot of initial legs to stand-on but i am happy for her that she was able to capitalise on it. I think Bianca is the one negative and too egoistic sometimes on her assumptions and opinions.
Patalinuhan ba to? Daming may alam e ni isa nmn satin wlang kilala n pake c Kylie. May opinion c Bianca jst lyk u n me kya respetuhan dpt. Ginagalit nio lng sarili nio n pinagugulo mundo.
I'm stating my own opinion here. U don't know me n I don't know u either. Have u finished school? D way u react, I don't think so. Ur way below me, I tell u. Get back to school, u soupy brain!
sus nakisawsaw lang tong si bianca, there's already a ruckus on twitter against Forbes for calling kylie a self-made woman. even dictionary.com threw shade on both kylie and forbes. i used to like you, bianca. what happened to you, you've become too mainstream for my taste. i hope you're reading this.
All the hate just because of the word "self-made?" Magbasa naman kasi bago magcomment. Timely kasi ang post ni Bianca because Ms. Jenner's on the cover of Forbes where she was referred to as a self-made billionaire at 21. But mygosh nakikipagtalo all because of semantics. How is that intelligent at all?!? Magbasa muna kayo and be updated about a lot of things before kayo kumuda! Hindi yung nagju-jump kayo into judgments and conclusions without strong basis. Kalurks.
Mga baks ano ba gusto nyo definition ng self-made? Fairy tale? Kahit pa you classify yourself as mahirap, I'm sure you have a little amount of money (kahit coins sa pitaka- that's money) to start with. In fact, may internet nga kayo and smartphone (ke high-end o affordable phone) to comment here, diba? To make it short, you somehow have resources so wag ipokrito! Hindi ka rin lumot to begin with! Kylie just made sense of resources she had and created an empire out of them. Kayo mga baks, kahit may milyones kayo now, can you really make something out of those and reach her status? Kaya nyo? Going back, what is self-made again? Teleseryes nga pala uso dito, not fairy tales.
Magkaiba ang rags to riches at self-made. But then ang self-made is if you put a lot of effort all by yourself to make your company a success and I highly doubt Kylie did it by herself. For sure, maraming tulong na nakuha yan at hindi naman nahirapan so hindi rin siya self-made.
kahit ano pang react nyo..reality na billionaire c Kyie.. kaloka kau..self made lang pla problema nyo eh edit wag nyo iabsorb.. wapakels c kylie s inyo uy hahahahahah bsta xa billionaire siya..
Alam naming walang pakialam si Kylie. We're just sharing our opinion. At the end of the day, we don't really care about her being billionaire & this issue. We just have a spare time to share our opinion. This is afterall a comment section and we are on topic. Marami siyang advantage, her team used it and I'm happy for her. Yung label na "self-made" ang issue. Masyado naman kayong butthurt for your idol.
Yes, her name gives her business a big boost but kung pangit talaga ang products at di nya alam ihandle yung business with her team hindi nya maaachive yung status nya now.
People forget that before Kylie Cosmetics, The Kardashians had their Dash stores. We all know Kim is far more famous than Kylie, base sa logic ng mga tao dito Kim should be earning more than Kylie since she's famous and has a leg-start for her own company, no need to hassle na. So how come Dash stores is kulelat compare to Kylie's make up line? Because she worked hard and used her resources and advantages more wisely that's why she's called self-made. Hindi naman siya pinanganak with a built multi million Kylie Cosmetics line to not call her self-made.
Kasi nasa timing yan. Magaling ang team ni Kylie for marketing her makeup line through bloggers, vloggers, influencers.. Dun ko nga nalaman coz I don't follow Kylie. But I doubt she thought about that marketing strategy.
Tingin ko ang naiambag lang niya talaga is to perfectly look good using her makeup so that her followers would buy it. Easy-peasy.
selfmade or not, the fact that she puts a big company nakakapagpasahod sya at nakapag bigay ng trabaho. maging masaya nalang kayo. wala naman syang tinatapakang tao. and im sure wala syang pake tawagin man syang selfmade chuchu or not.
Okay lng nman hangaan c Kylie kse at such a young age mayaman na sha. Ang mali lng sa cnabi ni bianca is self-made c kylie, aminin nman naten bumenta un cosmetic line nya because shes part of a hugely popular family. When you say self made, no connections at all to reach the top, purely hardwork tlga.
Oh no, you don't Bianca. Kylie is not self-made. Even before her boutique and cosmetic line, she already has strong connections and is earning millions. Si Evan Spiegel pa ang masasabi nating self-made billionaire because he started from zero at nagsumikap siya. BTW, he's the founder of Snapchat
ANG DAMI NYONG HANASH EH MAY CHIKA NGA NA HINDI NAMAN NYA OWNED UNG COMPANY. YUNG KYLIE JENNER COSMETICS IS OWNED BY COLOURPOP. SILA DIN MANUFACTURER. MAY PERCENTAGE LANG SI KYLIE SA EARNINGS NG MGA MAKE UP LINE NILA. KALOKA KAYO.
mga inggiterang chismosa kasi . Crabs!
ReplyDelete"Self-made" is when you started from nothing, started from scratch.
Deletei.e Bill Gates

Delete2:28. Nope. Bill Gates is self-made billionaire too. Even Warren Buffet read their stories too on how they become a self-made billionaire
DeleteA company can hire the best team to build it, but may still flop. I understand that some people may say that she didnt start from nothing, but some companies start with millions and still not become succesful. Kylie made her company. No investors, no big promotions from anyone but her. Still admirable for someone her age. ❤️
ReplyDeleteSelf-made man o hindi. She’s worth $900,000,000.
ReplyDeleteHindi porket solo nya ang negosyo eh self-made na sya.
ReplyDeleteIt was her passion for lipstick that made her start her line. PASSION. very transformative.
ReplyDeleteBasta para sa akin, hindi siya self-made.
ReplyDeleteWas that really hate replies? People gave opinions that is not aligned with her statement. I don't think anybody said that they are not happy for Kylie. I also don't think that Kylie is strictly self-made as she has a lot of initial legs to stand-on but i am happy for her that she was able to capitalise on it.
ReplyDeleteI think Bianca is the one negative and too egoistic sometimes on her assumptions and opinions.
Patalinuhan ba to? Daming may alam e ni isa nmn satin wlang kilala n pake c Kylie. May opinion c Bianca jst lyk u n me kya respetuhan dpt. Ginagalit nio lng sarili nio n pinagugulo mundo.
DeleteI'm stating my own opinion here. U don't know me n I don't know u either. Have u finished school? D way u react, I don't think so. Ur way below me, I tell u. Get back to school, u soupy brain!
Deletesus nakisawsaw lang tong si bianca, there's already a ruckus on twitter against Forbes for calling kylie a self-made woman. even dictionary.com threw shade on both kylie and forbes. i used to like you, bianca. what happened to you, you've become too mainstream for my taste. i hope you're reading this.
ReplyDeleteAll the hate just because of the word "self-made?" Magbasa naman kasi bago magcomment. Kalurks.
ReplyDeleteMga baks ano ba gusto nyo definition ng self-made?
DeleteMagkaiba po ang concept ng *Self made* and *Rags to riches*. Ang dami yatang nalito. Lol..
ReplyDeleteMali kasi ang self made. Nagstart ka dapat sa zero at unknown
ReplyDeleteMagkaiba ang rags to riches at self-made. But then ang self-made is if you put a lot of effort all by yourself to make your company a success and I highly doubt Kylie did it by herself. For sure, maraming tulong na nakuha yan at hindi naman nahirapan so hindi rin siya self-made.
ReplyDeleteMagreklamo kayo sa forbes for using the term self made.. mukhang mas magaling naman kayo
Duh!
Deletekahit ano pang react nyo..reality na billionaire c Kyie.. kaloka kau..self made lang pla problema nyo eh edit wag nyo iabsorb.. wapakels c kylie s inyo uy hahahahahah bsta xa billionaire siya..
ReplyDeleteAlam naming walang pakialam si Kylie.
DeleteYes, her name gives her business a big boost but kung pangit talaga ang products at di nya alam ihandle yung business with her team hindi nya maaachive yung status nya now.
ReplyDeletehaha! napahiya c Bianca, buti nga
ReplyDeletePeople forget that before Kylie Cosmetics, The Kardashians had their Dash stores.
ReplyDeleteKasi nasa timing yan. Magaling ang team ni Kylie for marketing her makeup line through bloggers, vloggers, influencers.. Dun ko nga nalaman coz I don't follow Kylie. But I doubt she thought about that marketing strategy.
DeleteTingin ko ang naiambag lang niya talaga is to perfectly look good using her makeup so that her followers would buy it. Easy-peasy.
selfmade or not, the fact that she puts a big company nakakapagpasahod sya at nakapag bigay ng trabaho. maging masaya nalang kayo. wala naman syang tinatapakang tao. and im sure wala syang pake tawagin man syang selfmade chuchu or not.
ReplyDeleteOkay lng nman hangaan c Kylie kse at such a young age mayaman na sha. Ang mali lng sa cnabi ni bianca is self-made c kylie, aminin nman naten bumenta un cosmetic line nya because shes part of a hugely popular family. When you say self made, no connections at all to reach the top, purely hardwork tlga.
ReplyDeleteOh no, you don't Bianca. Kylie is not self-made. Even before her boutique and cosmetic line, she already has strong connections and is earning millions. Si Evan Spiegel pa ang masasabi nating self-made billionaire because he started from zero at nagsumikap siya. BTW, he's the founder of Snapchat
ReplyDeleteANG DAMI NYONG HANASH EH MAY CHIKA NGA NA HINDI NAMAN NYA OWNED UNG COMPANY. YUNG KYLIE JENNER COSMETICS IS OWNED BY COLOURPOP. SILA DIN MANUFACTURER. MAY PERCENTAGE LANG SI KYLIE SA EARNINGS NG MGA MAKE UP LINE NILA. KALOKA KAYO.
