PBA player Jeron Teng and his two former La Salle teammates got stabbed early morning Sunday, June 3, outside the Early Night Club at the Fort Strip in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig.
A police report said Teng, together with Thomas Torres and Norbert Torres, were walking outside the club at 2:30 am when a group got "their attention that resulted to a heated argument and a brawl."
Teng was reportedly stabbed on the body, while Thomas Torres got hit in the arm. The players were rushed to St. Luke's Medical Hospital in BGC.
The suspects were identified as Edmar Manalo, a 40-year-old Filipino-American, Joseph Varona of Paranaque City, and Willard Basili of Muntinlupa City. All 3 were arrested.
Just hours before the stabbing incident, Teng saw action with the Alaska Aces where he played a key role in their 109-103 win over GlobalPort in the PBA Commissioner's Cup. – Rappler.com

DeleteI saw a video of the altercation and my take away is nakakabother yung reaction ng security guards. They didnt do anything. I know security guards are not police officers and they shouldnt risk their lives but what is their purpose if they are going to simply watch from the sidelines? They didnt even try to stop the fight or try to establish authority. Ano ba extent ng responsibility ng security guards? Anyone know?

DeleteThe thing is nobody in this country respects authority, especially people with money. Have you seen how police and MMDA traffic enforcers are treated when they actually do their jobs? DeleteFrom what I saw of the video, the security guards were pacifying Jeron’s group while they were being escorted away from the scene.
Of course, we cannot expect them to be calmed down by the security guards, but don’t you think if Jeron’s group walked away and did not keep clapping back at those older guys that the matter would not have escalated to the point that it did?
It was senseless. They have exchanged words already, they had the opportunity to walk away from it. No matter what taunting the other group did, they should’ve just kept walking away. They had a girl with them, they could’ve at least thought about her safety, too, right? They had no way of knowing that those older guys had a weapon worth them, so why fully engage in the fight?
Parang ine-escort nga nila si Jeron’s & co. para pumasok sa loob ng building. Siguro para mahiwalay ng husto doon sa matatandang kaaway nila. In a way, ginagawa naman nila trabaho nila. Wala lang talagang magawa nung sumugod bigla yung kabila tapos sinalubong nila Jeron, eh may panaksak pala.

DeleteAs for the Fil-Am, if he is visiting the country, I hope he gets deported back to the US ASAP after his jail time. If he still has a US Immigrant status, I hope the DFA send a request to the US that his immigration privileges be revoked, or that this violent incident be added to his record, so that he may be rejected for his US Citizenship application in the future. If he is already a US Citizen, I hope they do not let him slide even if he invokes his US Citizenship. Ang yayabang ng mga yan porket galing sa America.
