Boring, bland and puro naka-yuko siya while walking. Kahit na lang lagyan ng pa-effect yung shawl niya sa Swimsuit competition, wala. Kulang sa kape. May energy gap siya.
I honestly think it has nothing to do with her walk. She’s got the looks, the body and a so-so walk and stage presence but what really lacked is her sense of compassion. She is so self absorbed that even the video showed about her has nothing to do with any of her advocacies if she even has any. Then on I knew na she’s just a beautiful face with not so much substance. She forgot that she joined Miss U because of its beauty with a cause purpose and I saw no cause or reason why she joined the pageant besides the fact that she wants to show the world how amazing she looks. She seems nice pero walang pakialam for the humanity to even be a miss Universe 🌍 And I guess it just simply showed.
In fairness naman din to Rachel, in previous MU pageants, never nag focus sa contestant’s own advocacy. This year lang. Maybe she and her team wasn’t aware or overlooked that part since sanay na sa dating gawi na ang advocacy is whatever MUO will decide to do. Miss World ang advocacy-driven pageant and sa kanila ang “beauty with a purpose” tagline.
And her gown, na overt ang pagiging sexy, emphasized that she's all about physical attributes. Lalo.tuloy nawala ang substance. Di talaga pang Miss U ang total package ni Rachel.
Partly, I think her coaches failed to prepare her for the world stage. I’d like to believe that having a strong stage presence could be taught as she prepared leading up to the coronation night, but I guess not. I mean, she’s pretty and poised, but I got worried for her because she really lacked energy during the pageant. It was so evident on TV, my Mom, who is 87 years old, commented that Ms. Philippines looked overwhelmed and out of her league in the Top 10. 😲
I now think back to last year’s when Maxine showed everyone that she had “it.” She was vibrant and lively the whole way through. She didn’t impress in the Q&A because she wasn’t very sharp, but we all kind of knew that going in. But whatever she lacked in wit and smarts, she made up for with her strong stage presence. With Rachel though, we thought that she would be the complete package, that she would show up with her beauty, brains, and spunk, but we know what happened there...what a missed opportunity, indeed. Anyway, there’s always next year.
Thank you Rachel! You’re still great, and still well-loved. Good luck in your future endeavors. Let’s all move on guys. ✌️
Better luck next time
