  2. As a Mom. I prefer that I be the one to teach my children. Akward man, Atleast alam ko wnat they are learning. Sa US di ko sila binigyang permission to attend the class kase nakita ko that most kids were more excited to get condoms and pills!!! Religious and personal beliefs as a Mom na this is my role.

    1. As long as you are fully equipped to teach, why not. Sex education does not only entails sexual intercourse. Kasama dyan and human reproductive system, STD’s, mammogram, papsmear, other tests....

    2. as with everything, there should be a partnership between the school and the home. while i understand your apprehension about sex education being taught in schools, i believe that teachers are more oftentimes better equipped at teaching and handling whatever questions our kids may have about this topic. sex education does not only pertain to the act itself, it also covers the physiological and possible psychological effects it may have on people, particularly to girls. admittedly, i wouldn't be too confident about discussing the various stds that one can contract with unprotected sex. kailangan lang ng tulungan and balance between the home and school.

Ganun walang paligoy ligoy.

    4. Nasa magulang din yan . Kasi puro putak kaya ung bata tumitigas ung ulo.

    3. First of all I think it is the parents who should undergo sex education first. Dapat tanggalin sa isip nila ang malice. Sex education does not mean that they kids can go and have sex. After all it is still their choice based on their upbringing and religious belief. Sex education means showing the kids the biological, physiological and physical changes their bodies undergo what happens when they engage in sex, the consequences they face and if they chose to do it, the kind of protection that they can chose to avoid unwanted pregnancies and possibly STDs. I went to a catholic school and I remember vividly that in a science class we were shown a movie of what happens when an egg and a sperm are fertilized (in a biological perspective), the stages of the fertilization until it becomes a fetus and how the fetus develops. How hormones affect our moods and even sexual feelings and arousal, how we can be in control. Then we were shown the birth of the baby. Bloody hell that was our way of introduction to a part of sex ed. We were shown what happens when at the age of puberty the girls menstruate. The biological changes a girl undergoes when our uterus are biologically prepared for fertilization and pregnancy. For those who do not know sex ed does not only include use of condoms and other contraceptives it includes the changes boys and girls undergo during puberty, how copulation can lead to fertilization of egg and sperm and pregnancy. Basically, adults muna dapat ang mag karoon ng malice free background before they can effectively be sex educators. If teens are made aware of the hormonal changes in their physiological make up then they can be in control of their urges. A qualified sex educator is a must with a good knowledge of the things I have mentioned above.

It talks about contraceptives which will also cover any diseases that will lower the chances of it being transmitted.

    4. 12:41, And you think their children will listen to them? It should be thought in the context of the classroom curriculum. Besides, parents are highly prejudiced due to their religious belief, culture and traditions. Tama si 1:10 there are different aspects of sex ed not just the opening and closing of legs, choices and how to use contraceptives. So 12:41 if parents like you do not know this how can you properly handle giving sex ed to your kids.

  8. Sex education shouldn't be about religion or if you are conservative or liberated. As the name suggest, it's supposed to educate us about sex just like how we are educated about our reproductive system. It's supposed to form a solid foundation for teenagers to be able to make an informed decision regarding sexual decisions when they grow older. I got pregnant at 17 and looking back, I really wish I had a formal sex education when I was younger. Sex shouldn't be a taboo, we shouldn't be ashamed to discuss these things.

    1. Yes primary level is the best way to start. It does not mean you will tell them about copulating. Well we can and start with the birds and the bees. Dogs do it in the streets, lizards do it on the ceiling, birds do their love songs, etc. Simple things like this can be taught to young kids without malice, that it is a natural thing to do and that is how babies and the young came about, not from the stork. Before kayo mag react at ma shock why not take a look at the curriculum of sex ed in other countries and adjust it accordingly to our culture, religious beliefs and traditions. Sex or symbols of it are everywhere, on billboards, on ads, on tv, print media.

  14. Catholic school ako graduate, and yes tinuro sya samin at sa religion class pa mismo. Actually part yung sex education ng discussion about family. Kaya kasama yung roles ng parents and children.

  15. I see some ignorant people in here. They should put an age limit before they can teach Sex and among other things. And the people commenting about Sex Education, NO! It’s not just sex that they teach you in the program, but also SAFE SEX and what other diseases and consequences you get if you have unprotected sex.

    ReplyDelete
  16. sex education is more than getting pregnant! you need to educate the kids on using contraceptives or abstinence to avoid diseases such HIV/AIDS and other STDs. AIDS/HIV rates in the PH continues to increase, this is a solution for it

  19. The one who taught me all about sex is my mom and I'm lucky to have a mother who is open with it. She told me everything that I needed to know. When I was a teenager until young adult, Hindi ako nagmadali. I took my time and I'm glad I did. I discovered my own sexuality at the right age and on my own. Not sure if it's ok to teach sex sa mga Bata, but one thing is certain, sex should be taught as something good and not something to be ashamed of. It is part of being a human

    ReplyDelete

    1. I totally agree. That sex is something we should not be ashamed of. Problem is a lot of our citizens view sex as taboo. Labeling people na "malandi". Lack of education leads to unplanned pregnancy, maternal death, increased poverty, HIV etc. Education is key be it for the parents or in the form of school curriculum for our children. I am a mother to a 12 year old girl. I have to admit that I am not ready to discuss this with my daughter who started puberty at age 9. I am not ready because I need guidance from professionals how to do it right, how to discuss this properly without her just ignoring all the points I need to raise, and at the same time earn her respect like how you valued your mom's opinion.

sex is good when you have consent and you know that you are ready and able. jusko maging progresibo naman tayo kahit in thought na lang.

  23. Natawa na lang ako sa SexEd should be taught by parents. Tse! Eh kung majority ng mga magulang sa Pilipinas dose-dosena ang anak, do you think they are qualified to teach their kids about reproductive health? There's a reason why our country is over-populated.

If you are one of the few parents who are capable and willing to teach your child SexEd, then good for you. Check your privelege.

  24. Sex education may lower the cases of unreported sexual abuse. The reason why the victims don't report it, is because they are not aware that what they experienced was sexual abuse. Sobrang hirap para sa kanila na maintindihan why the abuse feels wrong kasi they don't know it's abuse na pala.

  33. One important aspect of sex education is teaching the kids about what is proper and improper when it comes to touching. It teaches teenagers about "consent", para alam nila kung inaabuso na sila or hindi, and when and where to report the abuse. It's to teach them about control, to prevent sexual abuse, teenage pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases. They were taught about their private parts and improper touching.

  34. We want our kids to be informed about their bodies, health, and rights, but will sex education teach them not to engage in sex until they finish school or are responsible enough to have kids?
