A Little Too Much Vanity

With no project in the offing, Talented Personality (TP) needs gigs to make sure his financial status remains stable. Hence, banking on his hosting skills, his team has taken jobs on his behalf to make sure he remains within the radar. Of course, the presence of TP adds a bit of class to the shows he hosts because his image exudes a certain distinction. In other words, TP does not belong to the mass crowd.

To make sure he is competitive, TP has agreed to a hefty cut in his fee. Nonetheless, the remaining amount is still good enough as he only needs to spend a few hours, rather than a few days if he is taping for a soap. The difference is that he needs to look glamorous to fit the occasion of the gigs he hosts.

One time, TP was tapped to host a beauty contest in a provincial area. Everything was prepared, such as the hotel and the room where TP could stay and fix himself. Even the makeup artist was oriented and was excited to work with TP. Finally, TP arrived and informed the organizers that he does not need the makeup artist, as he does his own makeup. Anyway, the makeup artist was put on standby, as the organizers wanted everything to be perfect.

When TP settled down, the makeup artist was shocked at seeing him bring out his makeup set, which even had its own lighted mirror. Apparently, TP was obsessed with makeup, which was the reason he had his own set. Minutes passed and TP was still putting on makeup. The organizers were getting worried as the program was unable to start on time.

TP was finally happy with his work and stepped on stage without incident. However, there was one problem. The venue was outside, which exposed TP to the elements. Consequently, the heat started to affect his makeup. Thus, TP dropped out between segments. In the room, he removed his makeup and wanted to redo his look.

Minutes passed and the program was getting delayed, as TP was once again taking too much time. The organizer turned to the road manager and aired his thoughts. After reprimanding and threatening the road manager for the delay, the organizer said that TP might run out of gigs, as he was too vain and his “being gay,” which was in reference to his taking time on putting on makeup, might affect his hosting assignments. TP heard the comment and he started to become agitated. After all, despite his looks, the gay issue seems to hound him. TP became very conscious and immediately, he looked at himself in the mirror and stepped out of the room as though nothing was happening.
