Extended Patience is Demanded

Basically, there are two types of actors. The first is the actor who studied acting and understands the job of acting. Such actor knows that he/she should follow the script and not ad lib the lines unless specifically instructed to do so. This type clearly knows that he/she should come to the set prepared by having read the script beforehand. He/She knows that her job is to act, the director directs, and the writer writes out the lines.

The second type includes Versatile Actress (VA). In this category, actors are confident that they know what they should do in a scene even without detailed instructions from the director. While this situation gives more room for creativity on the part of the actor, conflicts can arise as demarcation lines for roles might be crossed.

Whenever VA comes to the set of her project, the staff is always on their toes, as she could suddenly change into an irate personality. Considered as a veteran, professionalism seems to have a different definition for her. Instead of reading the script for the taping, VA would ask one of the production members to narrate the situation to her. Then, she would take it upon herself to change the story as she wishes. If she is not granted her request, she threatens to quite.

One time, VA commented on the gloom in her tent. She wanted to make the tent happier. This odd request puzzled the production, as they had no idea how to make a ‘happy tent.’ Then, later on, she made a big deal when she noticed a horse near her tent. She hated the idea even though the horse was not really that bothersome. VA said she does not deserve to be near the horse, which was needed for the scene. So as not to allow VA to rant more than she should, the production billeted her to a nearby hotel.

That’s not all. VA would request for long vacations, which often cause panic to the staff because they have to either tape way ahead or revise the scripts to accommodate VA’s inability to shoot. Then, she resorts to blackmail by threatening to resign if her request is not granted. However, her haughtiness has affected even her Co-Stars (CS). When a shoot was scheduled in the morning, the staff was elated as VA and CS were available, but they were wrong. VA said she will be late because she has to take her pets on a walk.

Although VA is highly respected in the industry, the production team can only extend their patience as slowly they realize that the VA behind the scenes is quirky and hard to work with. Sadly, she seems to have forgotten that she started at the bottom and should realize that one should be cooperative and humble regardless of achievement.
