Just a Major Frustration

Contrary to her denials, Gutsy Personality (GP) has been allegedly moving behind the scenes to make a bid for one of the most iconic roles in Philippine cinema. Thus, when the Original Choice (OC) gave the official announcement that she was dropping out of the project, GP was silently rejoicing far away from the limelight. After all, the role was up for grabs as the network was looking for possible talents to replace OC. Adding to her celebration was that someone whispered to her that she was among the names in the shortlist.

To strengthen her chances of landing the role, GP thought of several plans. First, she approached some people who can improve her public relations and make sure people would be interested in her. In other words, if a perception is created that the public likes her for the role, then she would have a good chance of being the one. Second, to cover social media, she tapped her fans to make noise for her and make memes. Again, this action could generate online interest, which is a vital factor for attracting millennials. Third, given her connection to Competent Host (CH), she asked him if he could give a good word or two for her as he is considered influential in the network. Fourth, she became generous to An Insider (AI), whom she thought could back her up when the final decision will be made.

Finally, her boldest move was to drop by the home of Powerful Executive (PE) to lobby. However, when the guards informed PE that GP wanted to see him, PE refused her and said that he was not expecting her. Thus, for ‘old time’s sake’ did not work for GP in what was supposed to be the most important step in her mission to land the role. Out of decency, PE refused to see GP because he was already rooting for Another Actress (AA) for the role. Hence, PE could not give false hopes nor fan the wishful thinking of GP.

Come to think of it, any project of the network is an investment. The iconic project will require a very high budget, and naturally, the network and its partners would want to get a high rate of return. Given the track record of GP, hardly does she have any project that could be considered a hit. Her last one could belong to the ‘first day, last day’ category, and the sales could not even pay for the production of that said project. Hence, getting GP to carry the movie is bound for financial disaster.

Finally, when the name was revealed, GP was so disappointed that she was not the one. To appease her heartbreak, she went on an unscheduled vacation. However, things seemed to be brighter when AI asked if she wanted the next best role, which was that of the antagonist. This piece of news seemed exciting. Besides, social media was abuzz with their choices for the villain role, and GP’s name would always be mentioned. Alas, even that role was not meant for her. Too bad.
