Thus, CS was confident that she will always be the one for such jobs, and thereby secure her place in the network. However, the network started to seek for new talents in many of their shows. Of course, every talent search brings out the best from contestants, and as a result, CS was joined by many others, younger talents who had more powerful voices. So, CS had to step up the game, but still, she was the bigger star, and thus, there was no need to feel threatened.
One day, Underrated Performer (UP) joined the roster of talents of the network. UP is an impressive singer who has no problems reaching high notes and all. Like CS, UP is also a veteran of various local and international gigs. Hence, the confidence in her style was obvious. CS knew that UP was bound to move into her territory, and she was prepared for such eventuality.
In an event, CS and UP had the opportunity to show off their singing skills. Initially, CS asked if she could sing the last part of their number. She knew that she would impress the audience given the high notes. UP agreed, but said she would like a number where she could get to sing the high notes of a song. She requested if she could do that in the finale. CS raised the valid point of making sure everyone gets equal opportunity, and their other co-performers agreed. However, UP insisted that she should sing the finale.
The exchange between CS and UP escalated when CS finally revealed that they were just being patient with the request of UP, as they already wanted to go home. Being professionals, they went onstage. This time, CS gave her all and the audience clapped at the range of her voice. Nonetheless, UP would not allow it, and soon, she was singing the last bars of the number and raised the level a notch higher than the performance of CS.
When CS realized what happened, she was very disappointed, and she had hoped that UP would honor the agreement. It was too late, and UP overshadowed her performance, and once again placed her in an awkward position.

Sa local singers, hindi naman lahat ng performances, birit sa high notes na lang para sabihing magaling ka. Sa kanila kasi, si A ang ordinary voice lang. Parang one note in every song unlike kay J and M na effortless and crystal voice pa.

DeleteWhen J was new to the network I pitied her because she was the underdog as everyone already knew each other. But as time passes she started showing her im-the-best-of-all attitude and sustains singing the last note of their song even if the others have already stopped. I guess upstaging others is typical for her, just as she was used to at her old network. She is good yes, but her attitude will isolate her from her peers. I hope she realize its lonely to be on top.

ReplyDeleteThese singers should take their cues from the more popular and less biritera legit stars. Humility and versatility is the key. Hindi yang nanguupstage sila ng isa't isa. J has been a starlet for so long, dapat gets na nyang attitude nta ang may problema kaya di sya mahal ng fans.
