In one of her projects, PA had to undergo a transformation that seems to be taking a toll behind the scenes. PA has been having a hard time in delivering her lines in a manner required by her character. According to the character profile, PA should be exuding more sophistication and a certain air in her scenes. Lucky for the production team, PA could act out the sophisticated and proud parts of her roles. In fact, she has improved much as an actress and can match skills with her co-stars, except for one area.
As PA is portraying a changed woman, she is required to deliver certain lines in the Queen’s language minus the accent, of course. Thus, PA had to deliver some lines in English, as her character required. However, the behind the scenes situation has proven difficult for PA, her co-workers, and the production team. PA apparently has a hard time pronouncing certain words, and thus, the scenes were taking longer to shoot. When she had to do a scene with Award-Winning actress (AW), several takes had to be done, which make AW impatient. The writers even had to cut short a few lines to make sure PA could deliver well. A speech coach was finally hired to assist PA, as lessening her lines in English would greatly affect her character.
One day, AW and Co-Star (CS) were talking about their children. AW said she was proud that her kids stayed in school, while CS said that before she would allow any of her kids to get into the entertainment industry, they need to finish school first. Unwittingly, PA overheard this conversation, and she could not say anything to the two older women. All she could do was to pretend she did not hear anything, as she realized where AW and CS were coming from. However, PA could not say that she had to skip school in favor of a showbiz career because she and her family do not have a means of living. Given that she has filial connections, the way to help her family was for her to venture into the business, and thus, sacrifice the opportunity to acquire good education.
‘I believe that we can, in a deliberate way, articulate the kind of people we want to become. We can articulate the culture that we would want to exist in our family, and you can then, as the rest of life happens to you, you can utilize those things to help you become the kind of person you want to be.’ – Clayton Christensen

DeleteM. Asiwa kasi pakinggan. Impossible naman na hindi sila marunong magsalita and pronounce, no? They should hire private tutor. There's nothing wrong with learning basic english, diction and pronunciation.
Btw, AW is and CS is S.
Deleteeasy, si M.
ReplyDeleteThis is M of KaF. Filial was the clue that made choosing which M the BI was pertaining to.
ReplyDeleteSi M?
There is something off.
DeletePA- M???
ReplyDeletePA - M
ReplyDeleteCH - KaF
AW - A
Cs - S
I feel bad for PA. Pwede pa rin nya maaral yan with a coach.
I don't get it why Filipinos are so obsessed with speaking excellent/no-accent English. It's really difficult to live in such a social-climbing society.
DeleteAnon 1:00
DeleteThey're actors. Parte ng trabaho nila yan. They have to make their characters believable. Puwede namang aralin yan with a coach kung gugustuhin.
1:00am, ok ka lang? Natural lang na marunong sa english. Anywhere you go, english dapat for convenience sa lahat. Para ano pa pinag-aral ka ng parents mo if you don't practice and learn english mismo.
DeleteYung kay M of KaH, true. Pangit talaga magsalita ..
DeleteM- forever starlet. Can never portray a rich character due to her intonation and diction. Why can't their station have some of their talents who are not good in english get tutored . It will benefit both of them in the end.
DeleteYou must get it 1:00, kaka.proud kaya. I went to an Asian country many of them cannot speak English. Ang hirap both for tourists and for them. Tayo kht 3yrs old nakaka.speak! Go Pinoy
Delete2:31 wag idamay ang wala sa issue.
DeleteI feel bad for her too but then again the scene calls for it. Even hollywood actors need to practice different accents.
DeleteBoth AW and CS are not good English speakers themselves especially AW! Most of the time, wrong grammar. Anyway, the character of PA should always speak English, but the Network/Production Team know that her lacking in speaking the language perfectly does not make her less of an ACTRESS, thus, she was given the project.
ReplyDeleteLacking in speaking talaga teh!
Delete1154 - problema? tama naman sya eh.
DeleteIt's M! She really has to improve her english tbh.
ReplyDeleteSi M?
ReplyDeleteM?
ReplyDeleteha ha alam ko kung sino ito, si M KaF yung Tv Show nya ito for sure, sino si AW? and CS?
Sno kaya to
Pareho silang may jologs feels.
Deletem
ReplyDeletePA is M; AW is A; CS is either S or the other co star; I really cringe each time I hear PA deliver her lines in English. She also needs to learn voice elocution.
ReplyDeletePA is M. Sooo sad, yun ang pinaka mahirap kasi it will never change. Lalabas at lalabas talaga yung flaw niya. Tumpak ang blind item nah toh... One cannot have everything talaga. I feel bad for the whole production dahil sa delay, apektado lahat. And as an actress, I think mahihirapan talaga si M pag ang role niya requires fluent English languange because she will never be able to deliver. Sad to say, she can't pronounce the words the way it should be. So that means her roles will be limited to her capacity as an actress.
DeletePA - M
ReplyDeleteCH - A
AW - A
CS - S
It is not about the accent. It is about having proper diction, pronunciation, and enunciation of words.
DeleteM.
ReplyDeleteAW - A
CS - S or I
Pwede pa naman maimprove yan, practice lang siya and try to read more.
ReplyDeleteM of KaF. Take rivals M and H of KaP as examples: M finished college pero medyo matigas talaga ang dila pag dating sa English, whereas H barely finished high school pero nadadaan sa pasosyal effect ang pagsasalita ng English (her grammar is a different story though). Sana M of KaF went through coaching first bago sumabak sa teleserye since they knew her character will require much of that.
Take it from H.
DeleteWhich is why I added "her grammar is a different story though" right?
They owe it to their audience to be the best when performing especially because they're paid very well.
ReplyDeletetrue at least talented sya at mabait
DeleteThis is M. She can try to finish her schooling through distance education, and she can be taught how to speak English like a native speaker by a language coach. M should not feel bad overhearing the co-stars, she should take this as a challenge to make herself better. After all, showbiz life won't be forever.
ReplyDeleteThis is true.
ReplyDeleteFunny naman Kung Yung remark ng co actors is ganun considering they also don't speak good English.
ReplyDeleteM has lots of room for improving her craft..hire a tutor to polish her english. Dedicated naman sya sa trabaho at mabait.
ReplyDeleteIf she really wants to, she still can go back to school naman na, for sure naman pwede siyang mag slow down sa work muna.
ReplyDeleteThis is M. She should take this as a challenge to herself to learn something new by learning English. At least it's easier now because you have the Internet. She can also finish school. It can be done if you really apply yourself.
As for M, more practice pa and try to watch as many english films and programs makukuha din nya yung diction. Sa kanonood ko ng hollywood movies and tv shows dun ko nakuha yung accent. Go girl hindi pa huli ang lahat.
ReplyDeleteAll the while i thought it was M of kaH. Pero nakapagtapos sya. So this is M of kaF pala.
ReplyDeleteYes the 2 actresses did not attend college but they know how to mimic naman po kaso si M superrr pangit mag english she doesn't know how to be fluent and confident. Meron naman po ibang tao hindi naka college but they read and watch a lot of american movies and they can speak well.
I feel sorry whoever it is in the blind item. Wala naman tayo sa America so let's not put her down dahil lang sa accent nya.
ReplyDeleteIt's also explained na hindi cya nakapagtapos ng pag-aaral because of financial difficulty the reason for her to enter showbiz.
As long as hindi cya pasaway at willing naman tumanggap sa mga flaws nya, i don't think we have the right to judge this person.
gayahin nya si puffstar, khit di nagcollege ok diction nya. khit nilalaro nya she can mimic good diction. thats the way artists does. sana kung anong flaw nya dun sya magconcentrate na aralin nya pra makalevels sya sa iba.ok nman syang actress. audience are paying so artists should give a good show.
ReplyDeleteIt does not matter, she is more successful than those who have the American twang. Those elders mentioned in the narrative would only wish their children would achieved what M has had accomplished in her chosen career.
ReplyDelete
