    5. 1:24 He meant theater owners as the businessmen

For the sake of awards lang gagawa ng oelikula? Jusme. Lahat yan for tge sake of money. Negosyo yan bakla!

    7. Exactly 9:34.

The fact is: the theater owners have to make money, too, while the festival is in full swing.

That's why in the past MMFFs, the lowest grossing films were removed from the theaters after a few days to give way to the ones more/most in-demand.

For the highest grossing films, they (theater owners) earn their revenues; the producers earn their ROI; the actors get their bonuses; the MMFF organization hit their target and earn their income; the beneficiaries get their endowments; and the parents get to treat their children; and the children are happy.

  2. Kasalanan ng mga network, movies are few unlike what people see on tv daily.

  5. If it is not a festival for and by the Filipino masa, then what is it? A festival for the Filipino langaws? Ao if this ia not for the Filipino masa, para saan pa na nagpa-festival?

Though I do agree that this year's line up is a breathe of freah air, his words did not resonate so well to my liking. Again, just mine, kanya-kanya naman. He seems condescending and is so full of himself.

    1. He sure is, have known him, and the above is just the tip of an iceberg on how he is

    2. "Condescending and full of himself" is correct.
That jerk doesn't give any credence to whatever he's fighting for. He could've presented his case eloquently, but, there it is. Another pseudo-intellectual trying to convince the public to revolutionize the local film industry.

  7. While other countries are serious in promoting quality films with the help of government funds and state-sponsored events, Pinas is driven by profits so long as they can claim that the movie has reached this so-so amount in millions, carry na.

Different genres to cater to a different breed of audience naman sana. Not yung basta "sikat" ang cast, ok na kahit half-baked and non-legit ang acting.

  10. For me, whatever, however and in any which way you will try to see in all honesty the ordinary filipino family would want to relax and see a movie which will make them laugh and bond with their kids, i should know, this becomes a sort of every xmas activity for us, but this year we will not be going anywhere near the theater for those mababaw, sans-story-comedy movies that makes may 67 year old lola laugh are absent in the selection...its xmas i on my own opinion wanted to see a movie to relax, laugh and "just watch" there's time for those "quality" "intelligent" movies, but for me, not on xmas day.

  13. I'm never a fan of filipino movies (i don't care kung ibash ako 'coz i'm just saying the truth) kasi, wala pa akong napanuod na quality film ever produced by a movie outfit..lahat below par sa foreign movies. I hope to see the days when producers will make quality and realistic movies..those awards they get abroad are not mainstream movies and mostly the theme is dark, something new that csught the fancy of the judges.

    1. I have the same thoughts on mainstream movies nowadays. I highly suggest you watch classic Filipino films. There are a lot of indie films that are of good quality too.

Ang ayaw ko sa MMFF dati pa ay sapilitang pag showing only those picked for MMFF Movies including sa provinces iyan ha. Asan na po ang choices namin? This is our hard earned money so may right kami kung anong movie ang tangkilikin. AND please lang, DONT ATTACK the audience kung hindi kumita ang ibang pelikula. Mas Gusto ko pa rin ang Avengers kind of movie, yung for entertainment. Kung di ako manonood ng kabisera, ITS MY CHOICE.

  18. I invited 5 kids (5-10 years old) from my neighbors to watch an indie film (I won't mention the title, for the actor's sake) in our house. After sitting for around 15 mins, they 6left the house one at the time. I went out and asked them why and I was told it's boring, they felt sleepy, and the other kids just shook their heads. I wonder what kind of movie they can watch on Christmas day without feeling bored and sleepy...

  19. Hinihikayat niya na manood ng mmff this year para wag mag flop

  20. Nothing beats a simply-written opinion to get the message across. This guy is trying to appeal to a certain demographic of people who fancy themselves as "creative writers." But as we can all see, this kind of writing style doesn't reach the rightful audience that the writer has intended to send his message. I'm also inclined to think that this guy wrote his opinion soley to satisfy his own ego, you know, he probably likes hearing himself talking with other people to make himself look smart. #notreally #nobueno
