Is Kris Aquino Leaving ABS-CBN and Transferring to GMA?

Early this year, the contract of Ms. Kris Aquino with ABS-CBN expired and negotiations were then underway. After all, the years of service and dedication Aquino gave to the station were immeasurable and the idea of Kris no longer a ‘Kapamilya’ seemed unthinkable. However, Aquino opted to use the time to rest and attend to personal obligations that included her presence during the campaign for certain candidates. After the elections, Aquino extended her vacation and her fans expressed that she was sorely missed. Her social media postings became less frequent, but she would manage to post on certain days to update her followers.

The announcement of whether Aquino will remain with the station was still up in the air. While several talents were already signing their renewals with the network, Aquino was glaringly missing. A few days ago, a picture of Aquino meeting with Tony Tuviera, the big man of APT, Entertainment, Inc., raised a lot of speculations. First, rumors have it that she might be the leading lady of Vic Sotto in the next ‘Enteng Kabisote’ movie. Second, the meeting was an indication that Aquino was about to make a big move. 

According to a reliable source, the state of Aquino’s career with her former network is faced with an offer that any talent would find hard to refuse. Not only is the value rewarding, career management and endorsements are part of the APT contract as well. Rumors have it that Aquino has been offered to do a daily show with a yet-to-be-named talent of APT, a weekly gameshow, and an entertainment-oriented program.

Allegedly, the offer that her former network could put on the table is merely a fraction of what APT had presented to her. The contract had lesser amount and a shorter duration. However, nothing is still final, as the big bosses of ABS-CBN will still be meeting on the matter. Meanwhile, Aquino appeals to her fans for respect concerning her career decisions. She stressed that she needs her fans more than ever.

If indeed Aquino will be returning to GMA, it will be a homecoming of sorts. After all, Aquino was one of the hosts of GMA Supershow as well as Startalk before she moved to ABS-CBN.

The public will have to wait for the conclusion of this developing story that could create impact in the Philippine entertainment industry.
