  1. I am from Iloilo and Im taking my kids (I have 3) to Qualimed pedia clinic and Im satisfied with the servive so far. I even recommend this hospital to my friend who gave birth 2 weeks ago with no hassle at all. Although I dont have an experience being an inpatient nor my kids but I have only good comments with this hospital from service to facilities. After reading this I need to have an option where to go in case of emergency especially it it concerns my kids life. Thank you FP for posting it here.

Plus, I checked 1:45AM's grammar on her behalf, and there's nothing wrong with it.

  6. To think it is the newest hospital in Iloilo and the most well equipped daw. Sa employees talaga nakasalalay reputation ng hospitals. It is the treatment given to you and the demeanor of nurses and doctors that will make or break it. Thank God for this post....

  7. The procedures, incompetence and inefficient services narrated by the mother are also the same in most hospitals. I wonder why the staff and employees have no idea on what they are doing.

Can't hospital just have one area for the cashier, billing and health insurance coverage? It's so time-consuming to be paying the bills in different places or areas.

Remember that not all patients have more than two guardians with them. Same goes for vet clinics. Staff and some vet doctors are also clueless and disrespectful in treating the customers and pets. However, they are very quick in asking for the payment of bills.

  8. Observed this practice of using diaper to "cover/protect" the iv site in babies/children. The purpose may have been to prevent the child from pulling/disconnecting it but then the possibility that the iv site/line was not properly connected/secured while not visible under the diaper becomes another bad scenario.

This kind of reality/experience (ex. using diapers to protect/secure iv site on children) is commonly observed in govt. hospitals. This is just one of so many poor/substandard practices that can be observed in govt. hospitals. The govt. should allocate sufficient funds with accurate accountability to govt. hospitals. Healthcare should one of the top priorities.

  9. Old practice yung diaper for securing IV lines for peds. It's better na nakaexpose ung skin and iv site, to check for infiltration, redness, swelling, etc. Risky talaga yun. They should have gotten a separate IV holder, one that is not attached to the bed. I know Nurses mean no harm sa patient, pero these things happen, hindi man natin gustuhin, it may very much affect our patient, kaya mag ingat po tayo at mag practice po ng tamang techniques for patient safety. I wish the baby well!

  10. Lol.. nurse ba yun? Who on earth will ever apply a diaper on an IV site?? Sue the hospital and kodge a complaint to PRC for this nurse's license to be revoked. Very unsafe practice.

    1. Practice ng maraming hospitals yun. Too much ang pag-revoke ng license. IR lang yan.

  11. Karamihan lahat ng hospitals they just don't care. Puro kita lang ang habol. What a sad life...

    2. Yes, that's true.. And for some nurses, stepping stone lang ang trabaho dito sa Pilipinas para maka work abroad. They really don't care about doing a good job. Tsaka na siguro sila magpapakatino pag nasa ibang bansa na sila.

    3. Not in America. 3rd world countries Lang Ang May Ganyan mentality.

  12. To be fair, minsan talaga IV insertions can be difficult in pediatric patients, lalo na if dehydrated. Even the best doctors could have more than one attempt at that. It is also possible for catheters to get dislodged, lalo na if may mga procedures like x-ray. At lalo na pag sa bata. But the use of diaper is very inappropriate. Dapat measures were taken to make sure that the IV site was secure and still ok.

Some things the mother mentioned like proceeding to the x-ray room before going to their chosen room and the cashier process-- these are usual occurrences in hospitals.

Medyo off lang ha when she said "good thing that the baby sitter was on the bed... so she was the one who got hit by it (IV pole)." She could have skipped the "good thing" part kasi kawawa din naman yung nanny (surely it wasn't a good thing for her).

I understand the worry and stress ng nanay, pero her narrative came off as parang know-it-all sya. She "informed" the nurse na bibigyan nya ng Dolan (oral). Why would she do that, the doctor is there already? And nainis pa when the child was given IV paracetamol, saying pareho lang ang effect. It's not as simple as that. IV medicines are absorbed faster and in pure, undegraded form, in contrast to just taking a drug orally. The child needed the immediate effect of the paracetamol! Yes, merong imperfections sa hospital, pero the woman should have avoided making ignorant claims. The staff could have done better though.

    1. Nurse yung mother topnotcher pa. She knows her stuff. The hospital is at fault here stop being petty anon.

      Delete
    2. Not all topnotchers are good in practice. Bakit siya nagbigay Ng gamot kahit nasa ER Na sila? Common sense to just let the hospital staff do their work. It's the nurses job to carry out the orders of the doctor. Kahit Alam mo ang mechanism of action ng gamot, may limitation Ang profession mo. Same with med tech's knowing the disease of the labs they do, Pero ethically wrong for them to interpret the lab results, kasi role Ng Doctor yun!

    3. 2:38 sabi nia binigyan na nia ng Dolan. Hindi bibigyan, kaya nga sabi nia baka no effect na kase delayed effect yung dolan kasi nga oral yun diba.

      Delete
    4. @2:38 maybe she was not trying to out smart the nurses by telli g them that she had given medications alreafy to her baby but it is a good idea for them to get notified so they knows what is needed from what not. Pr maiwasan ang overdosing. Nurses should have asked the mom first thing and foremeost what has been given anyways.

    5. @2:38 medyo off dn ung logic mo no? Good thing ung nanny tinamaan... kahit ung tatay o nanay. yes it is a good thing because we adults can take it. Medyo masakit, yes. Pero think about the infant. Pag infant ung tinamaan lalong mas delikado... haler! Knock knock may laman ba yan utak mo?

  13. Novelist ba to? Pwede namang I kwento ng maikli with the same result. That aside I agree with her concern. Especially when dealing with children because their vitals change swiftly and problems can escalate really quickly. Commenting while eating Venchi gelato (mahal but totally worth it) here in Venice.

  17. Hi! To the one posted on August 3, 2016 at 1:58 AM. I personally know the mother. She was my classmate in college. She's a registered nurse and was a topnotcher during the board exams. You should understand where she's coming from. Regarding that nanny statement, i dont think she meant it that way. She was just thankful that those IV fluids didnt hit her child. I'm currently an ICU nurse and what you said about her being a know it all is unfair. We encounter those people in the hospital, and we should really put ourselves in their shoes. They may appear as know it all for some but it only masks the stress and how worried they are. I for one is against placing diaper over an iv site. It is negligence on the part of the nurse. Blood loss like that could cause the life of the child. How do you think the mother should react?

    ReplyDelete
Or in this case dahil nilagyan nila ng diaper, nurses on duty should check it talaga time to time.

And true most hospital talaga pera pera na lang!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Goodness!!!napakaridiculous ng Ibang comments dito. It is clear that the hospital/staff is at fault. yes, it is true na mahirap naman talaga minsan maginsert ng iv sa babies. But using a diaper to secure the site is a definite no no.and if those nurses are using their common sense, they would not even ask for a diaper to cover the site. For those Na nagsabi that Krystle is being a know it all, let me ask you this, if you are a mom and would see a single drop of blood coming out from your baby, what will you do? What more kung ganyan karami?

  22. Qualimed hospital should do something about it, di pwede Haya.an na lng noh!!! Thank God walang nangyari kay baby Keisha, how stupid naman Ung ER nurse nagmamarunong talaga... Sinabihan na cya nabigyan na ng gamot still nag bigay pa ng IV di man lng nag double check.
About dun sa nahulog na IV kahit aq matamaan noh wag lng ung baby.... Soft pa and sensitive pa mga body parts nila...suite room ganun Chakaness

  23. it's very heartbreaking makabasa ng ganito.. sana mag karoon ng pagbabago sa mga hospitals in terms of rules and regulations.. kasi madaming worse pa kesa dito...

    ReplyDelete
  24. Even Makati Med uses diaper to cover the site. The main difference, it was checked time to time by the nurse on duty.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Don't get me wrong, I sympathize with the mother, pero magkaiba ang Dolan at paracetamol. Dolan is Ibuprofen and magkaiba sila ng mechanism of action ng paracetamol. For some cases, na hindi mapababa ang fever kahit uminom na ng isang gamot, pwede pa rin bigyan ng another gamot ang pasyente.

    ReplyDelete
  26. As I see it, the error lies in the inability to assess the IV site from time to time. Also, a splint should be available in all wards and please inspect your facilities on a regular basis. The last one, I consider an accident though.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Baka ojt lang yung mga nurse dun kaya walang alam or f bago nga yung hospital, wala pang maayos na systema..dapat kasuhan mo yung nurse involved at yung hospital for hiring incompetent staffs..

    ReplyDelete
  28. Yes, same here ..ganyan din nangyari sa anak ko ng i admit namin this year lng....parang nagpapractice pa lng talaga mga nurses dyan...kng hindi pa sumigaw at nagalit ang father in law ko kasi awang awa na sa bata at hindi dumating ang head nila, hindi pa makakabit ng eksakto ang IV.
